Rovvylicious | The Tie that Binds | Apr 24 |
A comment from Rovvylicious:
Summary:
First KOG with my favorite archetype, syncrhons!! Took this from platinum all the way to KOG. This decks win rate is actually really strong and I didn’t find the grind to KOG all that brutal. Legend to KOG started to get tiresome, but the rest was pretty quick. Breakdown of match ups:
Six Sam:
If it ain’t Tier Zero, it’s a freaking strong tier 1. Enishi is really the only problem card. Your Synchros beat over Shien every time, Cerberus locks out Dual Wield. I played somewhere near 20ish samurai matches and besides an occasional less than stellar hand; Enishi was the only reason why I lost.
Ancient Gear:
The lack of back row is a big plus. The only time I lost was due to less than stellar hands. No tuners/too many tuners.
Yubel:
Easy. Even with poor hands you can stall out long enough to blow out their field and make yubel miss timing.
Neos:
I only played 2/3. And they never stood a chance. It was even my final boss into KOG and I demolished it in one turn.
The meta is tons of Sam and AG. The meta might be boring, but this deck is tons of fun! I’m semi F2P and had ungodly luck pulling QuickDraw and resetting the box twice. Ironically haven’t opened enough packs to make a competitive samurai deck. You’ll typically see Sangan over Witch, but she does a good enough job.

Savitar | Sealed Tombs | Apr 25 |
A comment from Savitar:
First Time KOG ever. It was really hard but the current meta helped me up my game.
VS 6Sam: Flip the p-box before ShiEn is out or just bait him to either get stadium or p-box face up. Seal the tombs when you suspect an incoming Enishi to avoid being recked next turn if you have a boss on the field and just play midfielder next turn to bait enishi. Mithra is good for clogging their board and deniying dual wield but you can still play around it thks to midfielder event without mithra. Do not hold on midfielder in the hand as it can save you from tricky situations. Some ppl think bad aim is ... bad but i think it is very disruptive but be aware of any Fuma in the gy if you are going for a montser Overall you need to play very smart.
VS AG: Harder matchup. If you have box in hand first turn you have a chance otherwise your chances of winning will drop drastically. Just flip it up at the beginning of the battle phase. You cannot dunk over 3300 AGRD without P-box but you can vs wyvern breaker or even mithra to get rid of it. Bad aim their geartown and breathe a little.
VS Amaz/burn/Stall, Neos hybrid, Yubel/Nephtys Autowin imo thks to slugger , P-box and sealed tombs.
Hardest matchup Dinos and Buster.
Please konami we need signing deal and defensive U.A.

Savitar | Sealed Tombs | Apr 26 |
A comment from Tinyu:
Vampire deck is a powerful deck but difficult to operate. I crept from Legend 1 to KOG and have seen none of the opponents using vampire deck. Here are some experiences I can share in using this deck. To begin with, get one Vampire Retainer or Vampire Familiar in your graveyard. If you have more vampire spell/trap on hand, send Familiar.
If you have more vampire monsters on hand, send Retainer. The best way is to use Gozuki or Samurai Skull. If you don't have them in your starting hand, just set Familiar or Retainer on the field and wait for your opponent to destroy it. If you go first, summon Gozuki to do so.
If you go second, summon Skull because your opponent can prevent you from activating Gozuki's effect by cards like Canadia or Floodgate but not for Skull. Also, you don't have to be afraid of Treacherous Trap Hole since you can call monster from your deck if Skull is destroyed and optionally call monster from your hand if Gozuki is destroyed.
Why Sealed Tombs?
This skill is useful in this meta. You can prevent your opponent from activating Neos Fusion in their gy so that you can feel free to destroy their fusion HEROs. Also disabling the effects of Samurai - Enishi, Fuma and Kizaru, and Diamond Core for example.
Match-ups:
Six Samurai
For Samurai - Enishi, Fum, Kizaru, etc. seal their gy. For ShiEn synchro, fake it with Vampire Kingdom, this works for 99% because if your opponent knows you are playing a vampire deck, they will be afraid of this card. Then swarm your field, summon Vampire Vamp and take ShiEn as equip card. Use Vamp Domain if needed.
ELEMENTAL HERO (New)
Seal their gy, You should be able to destroy their HERO monsters. If they have silent swordman, use Vampire Vamp to take it down.
Anti-meta
Parasite should not be a problem unless you go second and your opponent got an Insect Whistle in starting hand. You have many chances to shuffle your deck. Also, you can directly remove parasite on the top of your deck with Simultaneous Loss. For Lava Golem, you have chances to perform tribute summons, besides, Vamp Kingdom + Simultaneous Loss combo can destroy anything on the field. Including Lava Golem on your side. You can destroy it before opponent end turn.
Hazy Flame
Almost impossible to win. Good luck~

Serpentine3 | My Name is Yubel | Apr 13 |
A comment from Serpentine3:
Notes:
This was quite a tough climb, at least once I'd reached Legend, since I didnt have access to the Nephthys Ritual Cards
Strategies:
Amazoness Burn: Definitely needed the Galaxy Cyclone to remove the Amazoness Onslaught, players generally banish the Yubels with it, but effect damage still takes place for Yubel and Terror Incarnate. Don't be afraid to tribute a monster and Parasite Paracide to set Yubel if you think they're going to use Lava Golem. You can remove LG by tribute summoning or with the field spell. Generally I mainly had to stall these out using the Wall of Disruptions.
Six Samurai: With the amount of Battle Traps being played, these were fairly easy to get over as long as you keep a Yubel on the field (Always play the traps in order from weak to strong, like WoD to Drowning, they can only negate one of them). Playing Limit Reverse before Shi En hits the field helps to prevent the opponent from removing one of them with Enishi. If they only have one samurai on the field and a set card, its most likely Dual Wield, so having Yubel and Yaksha, simply set (Enishi), or summon / suicide (no Enishi) and summon Terror Incarnate without setting any other cards.
My favorite play on this set is if they Dual Wield the Terror Incarnate and a set Limit Reverse, you can activate Limit Reverse and set off the ability to summon both Incarnate and Ultimate Nightmare, as well as retain the trap as it goes to the hand.
Ancient Gear: If you can keep a Yubel on the field without the Field Spell in play, you'll be fine as long as they don't Enemy Controller it. The best way to do this is summon Terror Incarnate with Fire King Island (if you don't have Yaksha), search Yaksha and summon it, when Yaksha is destroyed by Incarnate remove the field spell and summon Ultimate Nightmare.
Hazy Flame: Summon Terror Incarnate and it's game over (they only have monster cards), though watch out for the Berlineth, which can remove Yubel from your hand. Wall of Disruption also severely hurts them if you have a monster on the field.
Deskbots: Again, Summoning Terror Incarnate and keeping it on the field was practically the only thing I had to do, Deskbot009 may be a problem if you only have Yaksha.
Mirror Match: Somewhat a Toss-Up, you can deal major effect damage if the opponent uses and keeps Cerulean or the normal Nephyths on the field. Try to remove their Terror Incarnate with yours to break the cycle.
IMPORTANT:
Do not be afraid to suicide Yaksha into a stronger monster (except Armades) when you have Yubel in the Hand, as you are mainly attempting to clear the field of monsters, so the life point loss is worth it in the end.
Also make sure to set off Enemy Controller or Curse of Anubis early for monsters like Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon so they cant prevent effects or summon more Dragons when attacking.
You may occasionally draw a bad hand, but earlier in the streak I decked out more times since with the field spell you will go through resources in your deck rather quickly, feel free to take the destruction and search slowly.
Never needed to use the Synchros, but having the option with Enemy Controller may be useful to you.
