Insect Beatdown isn't much competitive in the meta
With the current card pool, it is quite difficult to construct a strong Insect-Type monster theme-deck. Although his signature card in the anime; “Great Moth” has very powerful stats, summoning condition is too hard to meet.
Get him to acquire a "foul" skill
The "Parasite Infestation" skill that Weevil acquire at Lvl 20 is a unique and that is based on Yu-gi-oh anime episode of Weevil vs. Joey during Battle City arc. Although it is a very useful skill that messes up with opponent’s drawing hand, but the amount of Parasite Paracide entering into opponent’s deck are random (from 1-3 cards). It is suggested for a control deck that depends on effect damage from “Parasite Paracide” to include “Jade Insect Whistle” card into the deck. → Parasite Infestation: deck recipe
Almost half of the duel reward card from Weevil are "Great Moth” set combo. It could be said that most of “SR” rarity “Great Moth” set received from him are quite useless. If the player does not have any interest in constructing Great Moth theme-deck, it is suggested that player should spend the gate key on other legendary duelists instead of him.

Insect Uprising You can use the skill when you control 3 or more Insect-type monsters. Decreases the ATK of face-up attack position monsters your opponent controls by 800. You can only use the skill once per turn.
Draw Sense: Low Level Can be used each time your Life Points decrease by 1800. In the Draw Phase, istead of doing a normal draw, draw a level 1-4 monster card.
Weevil Underwood is a master of insect deck. He has a real ability of the card game as he won a victory at National Championship but has a bad personality. His character came out when he threw Yugi's Forbidden One cards into the sea.
@everyone who wants Weevil to start with a Forest skill,,,I used to agree, but after using him for a while...
It doesnt suit him. All these other field card starters, they use <= lvl 4 monsters that have >1700 atk, minimum, and that's not Weevil's style.
I mean come on, are there any strong insects?? At level 4 or below??
Side point: Forest also deals with Beast, B-warriors, and plants. Now theres a hella good number of strong B-warriors, and I think that's why the creators excluded the Forest. Therell be way too many non-insects in Weevils deck. And we totally can’t have that .
Now going back to my main point: insects are weak. They are. The second highest atk of insects <= lvl 4 is Beetron at 1600. And then the 3rd highest is Blazewing, w/ 1500.
Insects are weak. They are weak. But they have some good effects (sorta). …. Ok, so Insects don’t have spectacularly amazing effects, but the true beauty imo of insects is swarming.
I mean, using some spells, most specifically Mult of Ants and Worm Bait, I can manage to get 3 monsters on the field. But the thing is, theyre weak af. But then other spells like Insect Imitation allows for beaters like Grasschopper and M. Scorpion.
And then using Insect Uprising: BAM all my opponent monster’s loses 800 atk.
Don’t ask for forest. Ask for a field spell like Jurrasic World that only targets insects. Sadly, I checked online and the only one mentions XYZ materials and the creators are definitely not ready for that.
Yeah, sorry for a long rant. I’ll give u a potato, but I don’t have any.
Personally, I just LOVE the fact that they made a skill specifically to help Weevil get out the Great Moths. The fact that there are so many cards that would let your cocoon survive for that long (S Kuriboh, Security Orb, Mask of Restrict, Windstorm, Half Shut, Mirror Wall and more) makes it vaguely feasible (though not so much in upper-tier duels). The only thing is, I think that if you actually summon Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, that you deserve an animation. They gave one to Vampire Lord, so clearly PEUG deserves one as well.
