Abyss Actor: deck recipe [Mar 22]

Duel Links Abyss Actor deck, Abyss Actor in the meta, how to use Abyss Actor cards.
update 22/03/2023

Overview

Abyss Actor is a pendulum-based deck with a beatdown playstyle that has good OTK potential when going second. Its main way of doing so is by swarming the field, including at least 1 Superstar to search for an Abyss Script (in-archetype spells), which is usually Rise of the Abyss King, allowing the deck to destroy multiple face-up cards that can't be responded with.

Additionally, the Abyss Script spells have some strong effects when destroyed by your opponent's card effects. This can give them some good advantage since backrow removal cards like Mystical Space Typhoon or Harpies' Hunting Ground are pretty common.

How to Play

Main Pendulum Scales & Searchers

The 2 pendulum cards often used for pendulum summoning are Madonna and Wild Hope, and they're also both kind of the searchers for the deck.

Use Madonna's pendulum effect to search for Wild Hope so you can pendulum summon, or Superstar if you already have Hope in hand. Sassy Rookie is also a good option if you get first turn since it has a good defensive effect.

Wild Hope's search effect only works when it gets destroyed, which you can manually trigger by using Mystical Space Typhoon when it's in the pendulum zone. You have the option of using MST on Wild Hope after using its pendulum effect to change the other pendulum scale to 9 so you can search for Superstar, Madonna, or Sassy. Then use any other low scale so you can pendulum summon Superstar to fetch Rise of the Abyss King.

Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna
Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna
DARK Fiend ★7
ATK 1800 / DEF 2500
Force of Infinity [SR]
Pendulum Effect
You can pay 1000 LP; add 1 "Abyss Actor" Pendulum Monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna", also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except "Abyss Actor" Pendulum Monsters (even if this card leaves the field). You can only use this effect of "Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna" once per turn.

Monster Effect
Gains 100 ATK for each "Abyss Script" Spell in your GY. You can only use each of the following effects of "Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna" once per turn.

● When a Pendulum Monster you control is destroyed by battle: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
● If an "Abyss Script" Spell Card or effect is activated: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Abyss Actor" Pendulum Monster from your Deck, but return it to the hand during the End Phase.
Abyss Actor - Wild Hope
Abyss Actor - Wild Hope
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1600 / DEF 1200
Force of Infinity [SR]
Pendulum Effect
Once per turn: You can target 1 "Abyss Actor" card in your other Pendulum Zone; its Pendulum Scale becomes 9 until the end of this turn, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except "Abyss Actor" monsters (even if this card leaves the field).

Monster Effec
Once per turn: You can make this card gain 100 ATK for each "Abyss Actor" monster with different names you currently control, until the end of this turn. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can add 1 "Abyss Actor" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Abyss Actor - Wild Hope". You can only use this effect of "Abyss Actor - Wild Hope" once per turn.

Abyss Actor - Superstar

Abyss Actor - Superstar
Abyss Actor - Superstar
DARK Fiend ★7
ATK 2500 / DEF 1800
Force of Infinity [UR]
Pendulum Effect

Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Abyss Actor" monster, then target 1 "Abyss Script" Spell Card in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.

Monster Effect

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, your opponent cannot activate Spell/Trap Cards or their effects. Once per turn: You can Set 1 "Abyss Script" Spell Card directly from your Deck, but send it to the Graveyard during the End Phase.

Not being able to use cards against it when it's summoned means that it can't be Floodgate Trap Hole'.

Since the monster effect is not hard once per turn, you can special summon multiple Superstar so you can get multiple Abyss Script. Rise of the Abyss King is often the main priority because it's a monster removal that also can't be responded to once activated.

Abyss Actor - Comic Relief

Abyss Actor - Comic Relief
Abyss Actor - Comic Relief
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1000 / DEF 2000
Sylvio Sawatari at Lvl 35 [UR]
Pendulum Effect
You can target 1 "Abyss Actor" Pendulum Monster you control and 1 monster your opponent controls; switch control of both monsters, then destroy this card. You can only use this effect of "Abyss Actor - Comic Relief" once per turn.

Monster Effect
You take no battle damage from attacks involving this card. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: Give control of this card to your opponent. Once per turn, if control of this face-up card changes: Activate this effect; the owner of this card can destroy 1 Set "Abyss Script" Spell in their Spell & Trap Zone.

Comic Relief's Pendulum Effect is a key combo for this Deck that can lets you swap 1 of your "Abyss Actor" monster for a monster you opponent controls. Ideally, you should swap Wild Hope, who can searches an "Abyss Actor" card when he is destroyed by battle or card effect. Don't worry about that destroyed Wild Hope since it can be Pendulum Summoned back from your Extra Deck after this.

Abyss Abyss Actor - Funky Comedian

Abyss Actor - Funky Comedian
Abyss Actor - Funky Comedian
DARK Fiend ★1
ATK 300 / DEF 200
Sylvio Sawatari at Lvl 10, 18, and 30 [SR]
Pendulum Effect
Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Abyss Actor" monster, then target 1 "Abyss Actor" monster you control; it gains ATK equal to the Tributed monster's original ATK, until the end of this turn (even if this card leaves the field).

Monster Effect
If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can make this card gain 300 ATK for each "Abyss Actor" monster you currently control until the end of this turn. You can target 1 other "Abyss Actor" monster you control; it gains ATK equal to this card's current ATK until the end of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Abyss Actor - Funky Comedian" once per turn. This card cannot attack the turn this effect is activated.

Helps you beat over high ATK monsters if you can't destroy with Rise of the Abyss King.

It works better as a follow-up turn since you can tribute Superstar so you can pendulum summon her back to get another Abyss Script search from the deck. This will let you re-use her effect without needing to put multiple copies of Superstar.

Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie

Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie
Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 1000
Force of Infinity [R]
Pendulum Effect
If an "Abyss Actor" monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect, you can destroy this card instead.

Monster Effect
The first time this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect each turn, it is not destroyed. If this card is destroyed by battle, or if this card in its owner's Monster Zone is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Abyss Actor" monster from your Deck, except "Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie". If this card in the Pendulum Zone is destroyed: You can target 1 Level 4 or lower monster your opponent controls; destroy it.

It's a pretty good defensive card, especially for turn 1 plays. With just 1 sassy rookie, you can end up blocking 3 attacks, and if you special summoned Wild Hope when Sassy is destroyed, Wild Hope can get its search effect off when destroyed. However, just 1 of it is not enough if you go against Cyber Slash Harpie Lady.

Its pendulum effect is also pretty nice, but being a low scale makes it a problem since Madonna is usually the top priority.

With Wild Hope, Madonna, and MST: you can use both Madonna and Wild Hope's effect first, then MST the Wild Hope so you can pick up Sassy from the deck. Doing this will let you get a search from Madonna and Hope so you can get a Superstar from the deck and Sassy as one of the scales.

Abyss Script - Rise of the Abyss King

Abyss Script - Rise of the Abyss King
Abyss Script - Rise of the Abyss King
Normal Spell
Force of Infinity [R]
Target face-up cards on the field, up to the number of Attack Position "Abyss Actor" monsters with different names you control; destroy them. If you control a Level 7 or higher "Abyss Actor" monster, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this card's activation. If this Set card in its owner's control is destroyed by an opponent's card effect, and you have a face-up "Abyss Actor" Pendulum Monster in your Extra Deck: You can add up to 2 "Abyss Actor" cards and/or "Abyss Script" Spells with different names from your Deck to your hand.

It's a top priority to search for with Superstar's effect. And with Superstar on the field, using this will mean your opponent can't respond to it when you activate this card.

This card can still be targeted after the activation of Superstar to set this from the deck, so just relying on 1 Superstar for 1 Rise of the Abyss King isn't a sure-fire thing.

It's only an issue to consider if your opponent has something like Cosmic Cyclone since your opponent will most likely not want to destroy it with cards like MST to avoid the last effect.

You can also recover this back from the grave by using Superstar's pendulum effect.

Techs

Mystical Space Typhoon
Mystical Space Typhoon
Quick Spell
Antinomic Theory [UR]
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR]
Target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy that target.

Deals with your opponent's backrow so that you can more safely summon your monsters, or to manually trigger Wild Hope's search effect.

Dark Hole
Dark Hole
Normal Spell
Future Circuit [SR]
Destroy all monsters on the field.

Dark Hole's effect to destroy all monsters on the field can provide a significant advantage in many situations.

Storm
Storm
Normal Spell
Odion [R]
Ranked Rewards [R]
Destroy as many Spell/Trap Cards you control as possible, then destroy as many Spell/Trap Cards your opponent controls as possible, up to the number of cards destroyed by this effect.

A budget version compared to MST, but this can destroy multiple backrow cards with a single use.

You can destroy 3 backrow cards by activating this with 1 set spell/trap or pendulum card on your field, then chain MST to the Storm.

Extra Decks

The extra deck cards are mostly optional and won't be used that much. This is because activating Madonna and/or Wild Hope will lock you out of summoning any other monster other than "Abyss Actor" pendulum monsters.

However, there will be times where you might still have monsters on your field at the start of your turn. You can then use them to Xyz summon a monster before activating Madonna or Wild Hope again.

Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon
Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon
DARK Dragon ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Phantom of Rebellion [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters
You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes half its current ATK, and if it does, this card gains that lost ATK.

General Rank 4 Xyz Monster for players to use so far. Its effect essentially lets you deal 2500 (its own ATK) damage if this attacks the monster you targeted. The advantage is that your opponent's monster's ATK is also lowered, allowing you to attack over it with your other weaker monsters.

Abyss Dweller
Abyss Dweller
WATER Sea Serpent ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 1400
Photons of Galaxy [UR]
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR] [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters
While this card has an Xyz Material attached that was originally WATER, all WATER monsters you control gain 500 ATK. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; any card effects that activate in your opponent's Graveyard cannot be activated this turn.

Useful to have in case you go against decks that rely on effects that activate in the graveyard. But this deck doesn't have any WATER monsters, so Dweller will only have 1700 ATK.

Number C39: Utopia Ray
Number C39: Utopia Ray
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [UR]
3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 39: Utopia" you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; it gains 500 ATK and 1 monster your opponent controls loses 1000 ATK, until the End Phase. You must have 1000 Life Points or less to activate and to resolve this effect.

Gives the deck another OTK potential, but there isn't a good way to bring this out since the only ways to special summon is to pendulum summon. This relies on Wild Hope's effect, which will end up locking you out of summoning monsters other than Abyss Actors.

Number 39: Utopia
Number 39: Utopia
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Shining Hope [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters
When any player's monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the attack. When this card is targeted for an attack, while it has no Xyz Materials: Destroy this card.

Mainly to be used to rank up into Utopia Ray for an OTK potential.

Number 70: Malevolent Sin
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
DARK Insect ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3.

Works well against opponents that only have 1 monster on the field. Temporarily banishing them will allow you to attack directly, which can end up securing some games.

Even better if it's an XYZ monster since it will remove all their materials, or if it's a monster that says that it can't be special summoned in the card text.

Steelswarm Roach
Steelswarm Roach
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 0
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
Selection Box Vol.05 [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
During either player's turn, when a Level 5 or higher monster would be Special Summoned: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the Special Summon, and if you do, destroy it.

Steelswarm Roach's effect to negate the special summon of a level 5 or higher monster can be very useful in disrupting your opponent's plays and maintaining control of the field.

Diamond Dire Wolf
Diamond Dire Wolf
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 1200
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them.

Useful 1 for 1 removal. Destroy your opponent's backrow before you commit to other plays so you can more safely do the combos.

Link Disciple
Link Disciple
LIGHT Cyberse
ATK 500 / DEF 1
Link Revolution [R]
1 Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster
You can Tribute 1 monster this card points to; draw 1 card, then place 1 card from your hand on the bottom of the Deck. You can only use this effect of "Link Disciple" once per turn.

Giving a Piercing ATK Damage effect to your Linked Monster will help to deal more amount of Battle Damage.

Other Card Options

Amano-Iwato

Amano-Iwato
Amano-Iwato
EARTH Rock ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 1200
Card Flipper [SR]
Inglorius Bastion Event [SR]
Gong Strong at Lvl 7, 16, and 25 [SR]
Cannot be Special Summoned. Monsters cannot activate their effects, except Spirit monsters. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card was Normal Summoned or flipped face-up this turn: Return this card to the hand.

Preventing the activation of monsters will pretty much disable most combos that involve monster effects, especially ones that needs to activate in order to special summon. This can be considered the ultimate counter to decks like D/D/D or Burning Abyss that heavily rely on them.

Handtrap cards will also be unusable, ensuring that you can deal damage when you attack directly without getting stopped by cards like Kiteroid, Sphere Kuriboh, or Battlin Boxer Veil.

Its biggest downside is that it will return to your hand in the end phase, but thanks to Smile World Skill, you can make it stay on the field since it's return effect will not be activated.

Abyss Actor - Twinkle Little Star

Abyss Actor - Twinkle Little Star
Abyss Actor - Twinkle Little Star
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1000 / DEF 1000
Force of Infinity [R]
Pendulum Effect
You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "Abyss Actor" monsters. This effect cannot be negated. Once per turn: You can target 1 "Abyss Actor" monster you control; this turn, it can make up to 3 attacks on monsters during each Battle Phase, also other monsters you control cannot attack for the rest of this turn (even if this card leaves the field).

Monster Effect
Cannot be destroyed by battle during your turn. This card can make up to 3 attacks on monsters during each Battle Phase.

Works best if you are using more cards that is more towards a classic beater playstyle. Gives the deck a decent OTK potential with any other monster, as long as you have high ATK or some ATK increasing cards.

Archfiend Eccentrick

Archfiend Eccentrick
Archfiend Eccentrick
LIGHT Fiend ★3
ATK 800 / DEF 1000
Selection Box Vol.01 Super Mini [UR]
Pendulum Effect
You can target 1 other Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy both it and this card. You can only use this effect of "Archfiend Eccentrick" once per turn.

Monster Effect
You can Tribute this card, then target 1 monster on the field; destroy it. You can only use this effect of "Archfiend Eccentrick" once per turn.

Mostly to be used for a spell/trap removal, but it's also useful for turns where you have the advantage and your opponent keeps setting monsters.

Techs

Necrovalley
Necrovalley
Field Spell
Selection Box Vol. 02 [UR]
Dark Dimension [UR]
All "Gravekeeper's" monsters gain 500 ATK and DEF. Cards in the Graveyard cannot be banished. Negate any card effect that would move a card in the Graveyard to a different place. Negate any card effect that changes Types or Attributes in the Graveyard.

Necrovalley is a good addition to this type of play since it can prevent many different decks that uses the graveyard at all especially The Phantom Knights Deck.

Treacherous Trap Hole
Treacherous Trap Hole
Normal Trap
Visions of Ice [SR]
Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [SR]
If you have no Trap Cards in your Graveyard: Target 2 monsters on the field; destroy those targets.

Very powerful monster removal cards that the deck can use since it doesn't rely on other semi-limited cards or even traps.

Other Extra Decks

Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation
Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation
DARK Dragon ★7
ATK 2800 / DEF 1000
Chaotic Soldiers [UR]
2+ Level 7 monsters
Once per turn, if you have exactly 5 DARK monsters in your GY, you can also Xyz Summon "Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation" by using 1 Level 5 or higher DARK Dragon monster you control as material. You can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it, then banish 1 card from your GY, also, this card cannot attack for the rest of this turn.

Has a card removal effect that you can use multiple times in a turn, up to however many materials you use to make it which is a good follow-up after Superstar + Rise of the Abyss King. Needing to banish a card in your grave won't be a big issue since you can use it on the used spells/traps like MST/Book of Moon.

Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack
Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack
WIND Machine ★7
ATK 2600 / DEF 2200
Sign of Harpies [UR]
2 Level 7 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 2 "Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens" (Machine-Type/WIND/Level 3/ATK 0/DEF 0). While you control a Token, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. This card cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect.

Only consider going into this if you have the zones to spare and need the defensive effect. Otherwise, this can end up clogging your field because of the tokens.

Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon
Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon
DARK Dragon ★7
ATK 2800 / DEF 2400
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [SR]
2 Level 7 monsters
Cannot be destroyed by card effects while it has Xyz Material. While this card has Xyz Material, each time your opponent activates a card or effect, inflict 500 damage to your opponent immediately after it resolves. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 "Red-Eyes" Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.

A good card to bring out if you find that your opponent is playing defensively/slow/stall.

You can get a complete deck with 2 lucky digs in a mini box. This is the definition of a F2P deck. I wonder what somesmuck has in mind as "f2p"? Cyber angels?
P2W deck are decks that necessary need money to be made, like decks using 3 copies of structure deck exclussive cards. P2W deck can also considered decks that require 3 digs in 2+ main boxes, since the amount of gems needed is ridiculus.

Do you find logical a player who just started the game to have to spent 3+ months diging on main boxes to make a decent deck for pvp just to see banlisted/power crept when he finally makes it? Thats why mini boxes and structures exist. To give a chance to new f2p and low budget p2w players to compete veterans. Not a surprise that most miniboxes and sd usually become instant tier decks.

^this is why you invest on staple, not EVERY DECK THAT JUST RELEASED.

Btw master duel also had a same gacha by their trailer, even tho there is feature where you can convert copies to in-game to trade with ( in 40 card format, so it might take a longer time ).

The point? Yugioh official ONLINE platform might be NOT for you. Just play tagforce, or maybe a duel simulator.

Here's another Abyss Actor deck idea:

Focus on bringing out the beaters like Superstar, Evil Heel, Sassy Rookie, and Twinkle Little Star (TLS likely needs ATK boost though), and combine them with Abyss Script - Fire Dragon's Lair.

Basically, the focus is on killing your opponent's Extra Deck options.

But they don't lock normal summon, so, you can use a version using resonators, but using just the normal summon to summon them, & destroying your own cards that lock special summon... But it won't be as good as a pure abyss actor deck...
<< Anonymous(VICTORIA)
Anonymous Reply
The summoning lock doesn't work like that once the effect that locked you goes through it stays for the rest of the turn even if the card attached to that effect leaves the field

You could try doing the resonator part first but I think they also lock you into summoning x type of monster too
