Gravekeepers are not dead! Necrovalley is the most powerful spell against GY reliant decks, and this list is specially designed to maintain card advantage and disrupt opponent combos to victory. The deck is barely KOG worthy, but it's a fun rogue strategy, with a good degree of flexibility and various options against most common archetypes.
No Mortal Can Resist is currently the strongest skill in the game and allows for incredible comebacks (it also shuts down Shiranui, Chaos monsters and Judgment Dragon).
[Skill] description | User |
---|---|
No Mortal Can Resist Can be used when your Life points are at least 1000 less than the opponent's. All monsters in the opponent's Graveyard changes to Skull Servants (Zombie / DARK / Level 1 / ATK: 300 / DEF: 200). This skill can only be used once per turn. | Ishizu Ishtar |
The defense core (Spy, Noble, Headman), removal option (Descendant) and fusion tech (Spiritualist) are pretty standard.
Gravekeepers Spy | DARK Spellcaster ★4 ATK 1200 / DEF 2000 |
Dark Dimension [SR] | |
FLIP: Special Summon 1 "Gravekeeper's" monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck. |
Gravekeepers Nobleman | DARK Spellcaster ★3 ATK 1000 / DEF 1000 |
Dark Dimension [R] | |
When this card you control is destroyed by battle with an opponent's attacking monster and sent to your Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Gravekeeper's" monster from your Deck in face-down Defense Position, except "Gravekeeper's Nobleman". |
Gravekeepers Headman | DARK Spellcaster ★3 ATK 500 / DEF 1500 |
Dark Dimension [N] | |
If this card is Summoned: You can target 1 Level 4 “Gravekeeper's” monster in your GY; Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position or face-down Defense Position. You can only use this effect of “Gravekeeper's Headman” once per turn. This effect is unaffected by “Necrovalley”. |
Gravekeepers Descendant | DARK Spellcaster ★4 ATK 1500 / DEF |
Dark Dimension [R] | |
You can Tribute 1 other face-up "Gravekeeper's" monster to target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy that target. |
Gravekeepers Spiritualist | DARK Spellcaster ★4 ATK 1500 / DEF 1500 |
Dark Dimension [N] | |
During your Main Phase, if "Necrovalley" is on the field: You can Fusion Summon 1 Spellcaster Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using this card you control and other monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Material. You can only use this effect of "Gravekeeper's Spiritualist" once per turn. |
Necrovalley Throne | Normal Spell |
Dark Dimension [UR] | |
Activate 1 of these effects: • Add 1 “Gravekeeper's” monster from your Deck to your hand. • Immediately after this effect resolves, Normal Summon 1 “Gravekeeper's” monster. You can only activate 1 “Necrovalley Throne” per turn. |
3x Throne is good for scouting, thinning and potentially negate spells with Ultimate Providence (definitely the breakout card of the season).
Stele and Rite at 1x are surprisingly effective recycling options.
Gravekeepers Stele | Normal Spell |
Ishizu Ishtar at Lvl 25 [SR] Ishizu Ishtar [SR] | |
Target 2 "Gravekeeper's" monsters in your Graveyard; add those targets to your hand. This effect cannot be negated by the effect of "Necrovalley". |
Rite of Spirit | Normal Trap |
Dark Dimension [R] | |
Target 1 "Gravekeeper's" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. This card's activation and effect are unaffected by "Necrovalley". |
Oracle is the only option vs Cocytus, Sabre Dancer, and Cavalry, other than occasional OTK enabler.
Gravekeepers Oracle | DARK Spellcaster ★10 ATK 2000 / DEF |
Card Trader [SR] | |
You can Tribute 3 monsters or 1 "Gravekeeper's" monster to Tribute Summon (but not Set) this card. When this card is Tribute Summoned: You can activate any of these effects, and resolve in sequence, up to the number of "Gravekeeper's" monsters Tributed for the Summon. ● This card gains ATK equal to the combined Levels that all monsters Tributed for its Tribute Summon had on the field x 100. ● Destroy all Set monsters your opponent controls. ● All monsters your opponent currently controls lose 2000 ATK and DEF. |
The extra deck is simple: early game shall revolve around summoning Supernaturalist asap, excellent for offense, protection, card advantage, and combos well with Ultimate Providence.
Gravekeepers Supernaturalist | DARK Spellcaster ★10 ATK 2000 / DEF 2000 |
Dark Dimension [R] | |
2 “Gravekeeper's” monsters Gains ATK/DEF equal to the combined original Levels of the materials used for its Fusion Summon x 100. While “Necrovalley” is on the field, this card, and any card in your Field Zone, cannot be destroyed by card effects. During your Main Phase: You can activate this effect; during the End Phase of this turn, add 1 “Gravekeeper’s” monster or 1 “Necrovalley” card from your Deck to your hand. You can only this effect of "Gravekeeper's Supernaturalist" once per turn. |
Quintet is easy to bring out with Stele and Rite, but it's very situational.
Quintet Magician | DARK Spellcaster ★12 ATK 4500 / DEF 4500 |
Dark Dimension [SR] | |
5 Spellcaster monsters Must be Fusion Summoned. If this card is Fusion Summoned using 5 Spellcaster monsters with different names: You can destroy all cards your opponent controls. This face-up card on the field cannot be Tributed, nor used as Fusion Material, also it cannot be destroyed by card effects. |
Barrel Dragon, Shiranui, Thunder Dragons, Lightsworn and Crystrons are generally favorable match-ups.
Neos-Lunalight is also favorable, but bringing out Supernaturalist too soon may result in an early defeat due to the Fusion-Lunalight Crimson Fox-Lunalight Cat Dancer combo.
Elementsabers, Blue Eyes, Dark Magician and Cyber Dragon are most challenging, and games ultimately come down to sheer field presence and control; in particular, the Gravekeeper player must be extremely wary of the Invoked engine, Dragon Spirit of White, Dark Magical Circle, and Cybernetic Overflow.
Dragunity and Blackwings can be most challenging without counters or Necrovalley available in the opening hand.
