“Dragunity” is an archetype of Dragon and Winged Beast monsters whose effects mainly revolve around equipping the Level 3 or lower Tuner monsters to the higher Level non-Tuner ones. Once the Level 3 or lower monsters are equipped, there are multiple ways to Special Summon them from the Spell & Trap Zone, giving you access to various Synchros.
It has definitely been a while since the last time Dragunity Synchro has seen competitive play in Duel Links, but the new Structure Deck EX Dragunity Overdrive might be what the archetype needs to return to relevance.

Destiny Draw Can be used when your Life Points decrease by 2000. In the Draw Phase, instead of conducting your normal draw, draw a card of your choice. This Skill can only be used one per Duel. | ![]() Yami Yugi |

Equipment Exchange Can be used when your LP is 3000 or below. Return up to 2 cards, including at least 1 Equip Spell Card, from your hand to the bottom of your Deck. Then, draw the same number of cards as you returned. This skill can be used once per Duel. | ![]() Leo |
![]() Dragunity Senatus | WIND Winged Beast ★4 ATK 1800 / DEF 600 |
Dragunity Overdrive [SR]
You can discard 1 "Dragunity" card; equip 1 Dragon "Dragunity" Tuner from your Deck to this card, also, you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except Dragon monsters. You can only use this effect of "Dragunity Senatus" once per turn. If a "Dragunity" card(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can destroy 1 "Dragunity" card equipped to this card, instead. |
By discarding 1 “Dragunity” card, Dragunity Senatus allows you to equip to it 1 “Dragunity” Tuner directly from your Deck.
![]() Dragunity Couse | WIND Dragon ★2 ATK 1000 / DEF 200 |
Judgement Force [UR] | |
Cannot be used as Synchro Material, except for the Synchro Summon of a "Dragunity" monster. This card on the field can be treated as a Level 4 monster when used for a Synchro Summon. If this card is currently equipped to a monster: You can Special Summon this equipped card. |
If you activate Dragunity Senatus’s effect, you cannot Special Summon any non-Dragon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. Additionally using Couse locks you to only making Dragunity Synchros. Sadly, preventing you from using generic synchro toolboxes like Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier.
![]() Dragunity Dux | WIND Winged Beast ★4 ATK 1500 / DEF 1000 |
Blackstorm Rising [SR]
This card gains 200 ATK for each face-up "Dragunity" card you control. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can select 1 Level 3 or lower Dragon-Type "Dragunity" monster in your Graveyard and equip it as an Equip Card to this card. |
If Couse is in your graveyard, the combo above can also be performed by Normal Summoning Dux and then equipping Couse to it. This variation of the combo costs less resources to perform. The downside is you cannot do this on your first turn.
![]() Dragunity Arma Mystletainn | WIND Dragon ★6 ATK 2100 / DEF 1500 |
Blackstorm Rising [R] Dragunity Overdrive [R]
You can Special Summon this card from your hand by sending 1 face-up "Dragunity" monster you control to the Graveyard. When this card is Normal or Special Summoned from the hand, you can select 1 Dragon-Type "Dragunity" monster in your Graveyard, and equip it to this card. |
You can Normal Summon Couse as cost to Special Summon Mystletainn, then Special Summon Couse with its own effect and make Ascalon. This combo can also be done if Couse is already in your graveyard, just send any other Dragunity you control to the graveyard. Overall Mystletainn is just another way to quickly get to Ascalon. There isn't really much reason to keep Mystletainn on the field as a beater when you can use it to make Ascalon for a much stronger monster.
![]() Dragunity Phalanx | WIND Dragon ★2 ATK 500 / DEF 1100 |
Dragunity Overdrive [SR]
Once per turn, while this card is equipped to a monster as an Equip Card by a card effect, you can Special Summon this card. |
Phalanx is simply a downgraded Couse. It has the same ability of being Special Summoned while treated as an Equip card, but lacks the level modulation effect of Couse. The reason we run Phalanx is to have more targets for Cards of Consonance.
![]() Cards of Consonance | Normal Spell |
Selection Box Vol. 03 [UR] Blackstorm Rising [UR] [UR]
Discard 1 Dragon-Type Tuner monster with 1000 or less ATK; draw 2 cards. |
Simple yet effective deck cycling. Discarding Couse or Phalanx as Cards of Consonance's cost will load them into your graveyard where they can be equipped by Dux or any of your Dragunity Synchros.
Discard Couse or Phalanx as cost then Normal Summon Dux to start your Synchro climb.
![]() Dragunity Divine Lance | Equip Spell |
Blackstorm Rising [R] | |
Equip only to a "Dragunity" monster. It gains ATK equal to its Level x 100, also it is unaffected by Trap effects. During your Main Phase: You can equip 1 Dragon-Type "Dragunity" Tuner monster from your Deck to the monster equipped with this card. You can only use this effect of "Dragunity Divine Lance" once per turn. |
Equip Dragunity Divine Lance to Ascalon to protect it from Trap effects and make it an even bigger beater. Since Ascalon can't remove your opponent's backrow, the protection from Traps can protect Ascalon from battle traps such as Wall of Disruption. It also protects againsts disruption like Raigeki Break, Fiendish Chain, and Paleozoic Canadia.
Divine Lance can also be used in a combo to make Ascalon, if you only open with Dux or Mystletainn without Couse. Summon Dux or Mystletainn then equip the monster with Divine Lance and equip Couse directly from your deck.
![]() Forbidden Lance | Quick Spell |
Valhalla Calling [UR] Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [UR]
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; until the end of this turn, that target loses 800 ATK, but is unaffected by the effects of other Spell/Trap Cards. |
Use Forbidden Lance on Ascalon to make him immune to enemy backrow. Even after losing 800 ATK, Ascalon is still strong enough to deal significant damage. Also, Ascalon won't be clashing with any boss monsters; since you'll be using his removal effect to get rid of enemy monsters.
![]() Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg | WIND Dragon ★6 ATK / DEF |
Blackstorm Rising [R] Dragunity Overdrive [R]
1 Dragon-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Winged Beast-Type monsters If this card attacks or is attacked, during the Damage Step you can remove from play 1 (only) Winged Beast-Type monster from your Graveyard, to have this card gain the ATK of that monster until the End Phase. |
Gae Bulg's effect turns him into a powerful beater by banishing a Winged-Beast in your graveyard. You will usually summon Gae Bulg by Ascalon's floating effect to push damage.
His ability to suddenly boost his own ATK can prevent your opponent from attacking into him and letting you stall until your opponent has some way to out Gae Bulg. This will be quick though, since he does not have any protection and simply changing his battle position leaves him vulnerable.
![]() Dragunity Knight - Barcha | WIND Dragon ★8 ATK 2000 / DEF |
Blackstorm Rising [R] Dragunity Overdrive
1 Dragon-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Winged Beast-Type monsters When this card is Synchro Summoned, you can select any number of Dragon-Type "Dragunity" monsters in your Graveyard, and equip them to this card. This card gains 300 ATK for each "Dragunity" card equipped to this card. |
You will usually make Barcha on your synchro climb with Senatus/Dux and Couse. Barcha equips Couse which Special Summons itself to make Ascalon. You can also go into Barcha instead of Gae Bulg when Ascalon is destroyed. Gae Bulg has higher damage potential than Barcha but Barcha has a better permanent ATK.
![]() Dragunity Knight - Ascalon | WIND Dragon ★10 ATK 3300 / DEF 3200 |
Dragunity Overdrive [UR]
1 "Dragunity" Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters You can banish 1 "Dragunity" monster from your GY, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it. If this Synchro Summoned card in its owner's control is destroyed by an opponent's card: You can Special Summon 1 "Dragunity" Synchro Monster with 3000 or less ATK from your Extra Deck. (This is treated as a Synchro Summon.) You can only use this effect of “Dragunity Knight - Ascalon” once per turn. |
Ascalon is the end goal of all your combos. It single-handedly gives this deck powerful monster clearing and high damage potential.
By banishing 1 “Dragunity” monster from your Graveyard, Dragunity Knight - Ascalon allows you to target 1 monster your opponent controls and banish it. This would be a pretty underwhelming effect for a Level 10 Synchro that even requires a specific Tuner if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s not limited to a “once per turn” use. As long as you have “Dragunity” monsters in your Graveyard to banish, you can keep on activating this effect to clear your opponent's field. This banishing effect does not destroy, allowing it to bypass the protection of Shiranui Sunsaga and Neos Fusion.
When Ascalon is destroyed, he floats into any other Dragunity Synchro in your Extra Deck. Since this is treated as a Synchro Summon, if you use Ascalon’s effect to Summon Dragunity Knight - Barcha or Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana, you will be able to equip them with Dragunity monsters.
![]() Dragunity Aklys | WIND Dragon ★2 ATK 1000 / DEF |
Blackstorm Rising [R] Dragunity Overdrive [R]
When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 "Dragunity" monster from your hand, then equip it with this card. When this card is sent to the Graveyard while equipped to a monster, select 1 card on the field, and destroy it. |
![]() Dragunity Militum | WIND Winged Beast ★4 ATK 1700 / DEF 1200 |
Blackstorm Rising [N] Dragunity Overdrive [N]
Once per turn, you can select 1 "Dragunity" card in your Spell & Trap Card Zone, and Special Summon it. |
![]() Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana | WIND Dragon ★6 ATK 1900 / DEF 1200 |
Blackstorm Rising [UR] Dragunity Overdrive [UR]
1 Dragon-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Winged Beast-Type monsters When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target 1 Level 3 or lower Dragon-Type "Dragunity" monster in your Graveyard; equip that target to this card. Once per turn: You can send 1 Equip Card equipped to this card to the Graveyard; double this card's ATK until the End Phase. |
Note by IIINC:
Players are currently favoring heavy backrows. Trunade becomes the card of choice to counter this preference. Tech in Kiteroid if the meta slows and favors drawing more cards before making your move. Hold onto backrow removal for a 3-for-3 wipe. If you are sparse on backrow removal but have extra two-card combo’s or ignitions, use one of them this turn to get your opponents to play their first few lines of defense. If they can’t replenish their board with the same set-up or more, you win.
