Dragunity Synchro: deck recipe [Feb 13]

Duel Links Dragunity Synchro deck, Dragunity Synchro in the current meta, how to use.
update 13/02/2023

Overview

“Dragunity” is an archetype of Dragon and Winged Beast monsters whose effects mainly revolve around equipping the Level 3 or lower Tuner monsters to the higher Level non-Tuner ones. Once the Level 3 or lower monsters are equipped, there are multiple ways to Special Summon them from the Spell & Trap Zone, giving you access to various Synchros.
It has definitely been a while since the last time Dragunity Synchro has seen competitive play in Duel Links, but the new Structure Deck EX Dragunity Overdrive might be what the archetype needs to return to relevance.

How to Use

Dragunity Monsters

Dragunity Arma Gram
Dragunity Arma Gram
WIND Dragon ★10
ATK 2900 / DEF 2200
Stars of Synchro [SR]
You can banish 2 Dragon and/or Winged Beast monsters from your GY: Special Summon this card from your hand or GY. You can target 1 face-up monster; its effects are negated, also it loses 1000 ATK for each Equip Card you control. When your opponent's monster is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: You can equip it to this card. You can only use each effect of "Dragunity Arma Gram" once per turn.
Dragunity Senatus
Dragunity Senatus
WIND Winged Beast ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF 600
Dragunity Overdrive [SR]
You can discard 1 "Dragunity" card; equip 1 Dragon "Dragunity" Tuner from your Deck to this card, also, you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except Dragon monsters. You can only use this effect of "Dragunity Senatus" once per turn. If a "Dragunity" card(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can destroy 1 "Dragunity" card equipped to this card, instead.

By discarding 1 “Dragunity” card, Dragunity Senatus allows you to equip to it 1 “Dragunity” Tuner directly from your Deck.

  • Normal Summon Senatus, discard 1 “Dragunity” card and equip Dragunity Couse. While it’s equipped to a monster, Course can be Special Summoned from the Spell & Trap Zone.
Dragunity Couse
Dragunity Couse
WIND Dragon ★2
ATK 1000 / DEF 200
Judgement Force [UR]
Cannot be used as Synchro Material, except for the Synchro Summon of a "Dragunity" monster. This card on the field can be treated as a Level 4 monster when used for a Synchro Summon. If this card is currently equipped to a monster: You can Special Summon this equipped card.
  • Special Summon Couse and make Barcha or, if you want to end the synchro climb, make Gae Bulg.
  • Equip Couse to Barcha and then Special Summon Couse again to make Ascalon.

If you activate Dragunity Senatus’s effect, you cannot Special Summon any non-Dragon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. Additionally using Couse locks you to only making Dragunity Synchros. Sadly, preventing you from using generic synchro toolboxes like Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier.

Dragunity Dux
Dragunity Dux
WIND Winged Beast ★4
ATK 1500 / DEF 1000
Blackstorm Rising [SR]
This card gains 200 ATK for each face-up "Dragunity" card you control. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can select 1 Level 3 or lower Dragon-Type "Dragunity" monster in your Graveyard and equip it as an Equip Card to this card.

If Couse is in your graveyard, the combo above can also be performed by Normal Summoning Dux and then equipping Couse to it. This variation of the combo costs less resources to perform. The downside is you cannot do this on your first turn.

Dragunity Legatus
Dragunity Legatus
WIND Winged Beast ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF 1200
Stars of Synchro [SR]
If you control "Dragon Ravine" or a "Dragunity" monster: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If a "Dragunity" Monster Card(s) is in your Spell & Trap Zone: You can target 1 Spell/Trap on the field; destroy it. You can only use each effect of "Dragunity Legatus" once per turn.

Another Level 4 Winged-Beast Dragunity monster which as a good Combo Starter that can be special summoned while you control a "Dragunity" monster or Dragon Ravine on your field without utilizing a normal summon. The Backrow Removal effect while there is a "Dragunity" monster(s) in your Spell/Trap zone also can helps for wiping out your opponents backrow to secure some games.

Dragunity Guisarme
Dragunity Guisarme
WIND Dragon ★3
ATK 600 / DEF 1600
Stars of Synchro [R]
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 Level 4 or lower WIND Dragon or Winged Beast monster in your GY; Special Summon it, but negate its effects. While this card is equipped to a monster: You can Special Summon this equipped card. You can only use each effect of "Dragunity Guisarme" once per turn.

A one-card Synchro enabler which synergies with another Level 4 Winged-Beast monsters, letting you immediately go into a level-7 Synchro. Similar with Couse effect, it can also special summon itself while it is equipped to a Dragunity monster.

Burning Abyss Engine

Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1000 / DEF 1900
Fantastic Arc [R]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of these effects of "Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" per turn, and only once that turn.

● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
● If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 monster on the field; banish it until the End Phase.
Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal
Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal
LIGHT Fairy ★6
ATK 2500 / DEF 2800
Heart of Xyz [SR]
Selection Box Vol.06 [SR]
2 Level 6 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by sending 1 "Burning Abyss" monster from your hand to the Graveyard, then using 1 "Dante" monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If Summoned this way, the following effect cannot be activated this turn. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; send 1 card from your Deck to the Graveyard. If this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Burning Abyss" monster from your Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions.

Harpie Engine

Harpie Channeler
Harpie Channeler
WIND Winged Beast ★4
ATK 1400 / DEF 1300
Sign of Harpies [SR]
You can discard 1 "Harpie" card; Special Summon 1 "Harpie" monster from your Deck in face-up Defense Position, except "Harpie Channeler". You can only use this effect of "Harpie Channeler" once per turn. While you control a Dragon-Type monster, this card's Level becomes 7. This card's name becomes "Harpie Lady" while it is on the field or in the Graveyard.

Harpie Channeler is an Extra Deck play enabler. Generally, you use her effect to Special Summon another Level-4 Harpie from the Deck then use both monsters to either Synchro Summon into Cyber Slash, or go into your Rank-4 toolbox.

Harpie Channeler also can be used to Synchro Summon Dragunity Ascalon (Channeler's effect will make herself Level becomes 7 since you control a Level 3 Dragunity Tuner.

Harpie Perfumer
Harpie Perfumer
WIND Winged Beast ★4
ATK 1400 / DEF 1300
Sign of Harpies [SR]
This card's name becomes "Harpie Lady" while on the field or in the GY. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand that specifically lists the card "Harpie Lady Sisters" in its text. If you controlled a Level 5 or higher "Harpie" monster when you activated this effect, you can also add a second such card, with a different name from the first. You can only use this effect of "Harpie Perfumer" once per turn.

Perfumer has two search targets: Harpies Feather Rest and Elegant Egotist.

Perfumer can be an Extra Deck enabler when comboed with Elegant Egotist. First summon Perfumer then fetch Elegant Egotists. Activate Elegant Egotist to Special Summon Harpie Lady 1 from the Deck. With both monsters you can proceed to make Cyber Slash. So generally if you don't have Cyber Slash on the field yet, fetch Elegant Egotist with Perfumer.

If Cyber Slash (or Level 7 Channeler) is present on the field, Perfumer allows you to search both its search targets. This is especially good because Harpies Feather Rest works best if Cyber Slash is on the field.

Harpie Lady 1
Harpie Lady 1
WIND Winged Beast ★4
ATK 1300 / DEF 1400
Mai Valentine at level 35 [SR]
Card Trader [SR] [SR]

Aerial Assault [UR]
Selection Box Vol.04 [UR]
If this card is in your Graveyard: You can return 1 face-up card you control to the hand; Special Summon this card, and if you do, take 400 damage. You can only use this effect of "Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite" once per Duel.

Dragon Ravine

Field Spell
Stars of Synchro [SR]
Once per turn: You can discard 1 card, then activate 1 of these effects;

● Add 1 Level 4 or lower "Dragunity" monster from your Deck to your hand.
● Send 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.

Main Core Card which 3 should be used in Dragunity Deck that can allows you to search out the deck for the tuners and dragons that players need for the combo.

Dragunity Divine Lance

Dragunity Divine Lance
Dragunity Divine Lance
Equip Spell
Blackstorm Rising [R]
Equip only to a "Dragunity" monster. It gains ATK equal to its Level x 100, also it is unaffected by Trap effects. During your Main Phase: You can equip 1 Dragon-Type "Dragunity" Tuner monster from your Deck to the monster equipped with this card. You can only use this effect of "Dragunity Divine Lance" once per turn.

Equip Dragunity Divine Lance to Ascalon to protect it from Trap effects and make it an even bigger beater. Since Ascalon can't remove your opponent's backrow, the protection from Traps can protect Ascalon from battle traps such as Wall of Disruption. It also protects againsts disruption like Raigeki Break, Fiendish Chain, and Paleozoic Canadia.

Divine Lance can also be used in a combo to make Ascalon, if you only open with Dux or Mystletainn without Couse. Summon Dux or Mystletainn then equip the monster with Divine Lance and equip Couse directly from your deck.

Forbidden Chalice

Forbidden Chalice
Forbidden Chalice
Quick Spell
Servants of Kings [SR]
Selection Box Vol. 01 Mini [SR]
Special Set Bundle Sale [SR]
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; until the end of this turn, that target gains 400 ATK, but its effects are negated.

Forbidden Chalice is a versatile Quick-Play Spell that can be used to prevent your opponent activates monster's effect for searching or carrying out combo.

The Extra Deck

Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier
Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier
WATER Dragon ★11
ATK 2700 / DEF 2000
Stars of Synchro [UR]
1 Tuner + 2+ non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can banish up to 3 cards your opponent controls. If this Synchro Summoned card in its owner's control is destroyed by an opponent's card: You can Special Summon 1 "Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" from your Extra Deck or GY, its ATK becomes 3300, then halve the ATK of any face-up monsters your opponent currently controls, also negate their effects. You can only use this effect of "Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier" once per turn.

Can be Synchro Summoned by using 2 Level 4 Harpie Monsters (Channeler + Perfumer/Lady 1) with Level 3 Dragunity Guisarme Tuner. Banish up to 3 cards under your opponent's control (keep in mind that this is an Untargeted Effect) which can help you to clear their board and OTK them.

Trishula Zero Dragon's floating effect will help you bring out Trishula Dragon either from your Extra Deck or Graveyard with 3300 ATK stats which can stop your opponent from OTK.

Dragunity Knight - Ascalon
Dragunity Knight - Ascalon
WIND Dragon ★10
ATK 3300 / DEF 3200
Dragunity Overdrive [UR]
1 "Dragunity" Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
You can banish 1 "Dragunity" monster from your GY, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it. If this Synchro Summoned card in its owner's control is destroyed by an opponent's card: You can Special Summon 1 "Dragunity" Synchro Monster with 3000 or less ATK from your Extra Deck. (This is treated as a Synchro Summon.) You can only use this effect of “Dragunity Knight - Ascalon” once per turn.

Ascalon is the end goal of all your combos. It single-handedly gives this deck powerful monster clearing and high damage potential.

By banishing 1 “Dragunity” monster from your Graveyard, Dragunity Knight - Ascalon allows you to target 1 monster your opponent controls and banish it. This would be a pretty underwhelming effect for a Level 10 Synchro that even requires a specific Tuner if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s not limited to a “once per turn” use. As long as you have “Dragunity” monsters in your Graveyard to banish, you can keep on activating this effect to clear your opponent's field. This banishing effect does not destroy, allowing it to bypass the protection of Shiranui Sunsaga and Neos Fusion.

When Ascalon is destroyed, he floats into any other Dragunity Synchro in your Extra Deck. Since this is treated as a Synchro Summon, if you use Ascalon’s effect to Summon Dragunity Knight - Barcha or Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana, you will be able to equip them with Dragunity monsters.

Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
WATER Dragon ★9
ATK 2700 / DEF 2000
Starter/Special Set Bundle Sale [UR]
1 Tuner + 2 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can banish up to 1 card each from your opponent's hand, field, and Graveyard. (The card in the hand is chosen at random.)

The effect by banishing 1 card each from your opponent's hand, field, and Graveyard which can easily disrupt your opponent's combo. However, this card is unable to special summoned in normal way except by Trishula Zero Dragon's effect.

Cyber Slash Harpie Lady
Cyber Slash Harpie Lady
WIND Winged Beast ★8
ATK 2600 / DEF 1400
Sign of Harpies [UR]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
For this card's Synchro Summon, you can treat 1 "Harpie" monster you control as a Tuner. This card's name becomes "Harpie Lady" while on the field or in the GY. When a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated (except during the Damage Step) (Quick Effect): You can target 1 monster your opponent controls or 1 "Harpie" monster you control; return it to the hand. You can only use this effect of "Cyber Slash Harpie Lady" once per turn.

Cyber Slash has a unique Synchro Summoning condition that allows us to run no Tuners in this Deck. Additionally, since any Harpie Lady can act as the Tuner, summoning Cyber Slash is made much more consistent. Cyber Slash's stats are nothing special, but her effect lets you bounce one enemy monster if a Spell/Trap is activated. This can also be triggered when your Spell/Trap is activated; and bounce an enemy monster.

Dragunity Knight - Luin
Dragunity Knight - Luin
WIND Dragon ★6
ATK 1200 / DEF 1900
Chronicle of Glory [SR]
1 "Dragunity" Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
If this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 "Dragunity" monster in your GY; equip it to this card. If this card is sent to the GY: You can target 1 "Dragunity" monster you control; equip this card to that target. It gains 1000 ATK/DEF. You can only use each effect of "Dragunity Knight - Luin" once per turn.
Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg
Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg
WIND Dragon ★6
ATK 2400 / DEF 800
Blackstorm Rising [SR]
1 Dragon-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Winged Beast-Type monsters
Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can add 1 Level 4 or lower Dragon-Type or Winged Beast-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. Then discard 1 Dragon-Type or Winged Beast-Type monster.
Dragunity Knight - Barcha
Dragunity Knight - Barcha
WIND Dragon ★8
ATK 2000 / DEF
Blackstorm Rising [R]
Dragunity Overdrive
1 Dragon-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Winged Beast-Type monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned, you can select any number of Dragon-Type "Dragunity" monsters in your Graveyard, and equip them to this card. This card gains 300 ATK for each "Dragunity" card equipped to this card.

You will usually make Barcha on your synchro climb with Senatus/Dux and Couse. Barcha equips Couse which Special Summons itself to make Ascalon. You can also go into Barcha instead of Gae Bulg when Ascalon is destroyed. Gae Bulg has higher damage potential than Barcha but Barcha has a better permanent ATK.

Dragunity Knight - Gormfaobhar
Dragunity Knight - Gormfaobhar
WIND Dragon ★7
ATK 2600 / DEF 2300
Stars of Synchro [R]
1 "Dragunity" Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target 1 "Dragunity" Tuner in your GY; equip it to this card. (Quick Effect): You can send 1 Equip Card you control that is equipped to this card to the GY, then target up to 2 cards in your opponent's GY; banish them. You can only use each effect of "Dragunity Knight - Gormfaobhar" once per turn.
Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg
Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg
WIND Dragon ★6
ATK / DEF
Blackstorm Rising [R]
Dragunity Overdrive [R]
1 Dragon-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Winged Beast-Type monsters
If this card attacks or is attacked, during the Damage Step you can remove from play 1 (only) Winged Beast-Type monster from your Graveyard, to have this card gain the ATK of that monster until the End Phase.

Gae Bulg's effect turns him into a powerful beater by banishing a Winged-Beast in your graveyard. You will usually summon Gae Bulg by Ascalon's floating effect to push damage.

His ability to suddenly boost his own ATK can prevent your opponent from attacking into him and letting you stall until your opponent has some way to out Gae Bulg. This will be quick though, since he does not have any protection and simply changing his battle position leaves him vulnerable.

Number 70: Malevolent Sin
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
DARK Insect ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3.

Malevolent Sin is an anti-Xyz tech. Summon Malevolent Sin and use its effect to temporarily banish an enemy Xyz monster. The Xyz monster will return with no materials attached to it.

Link Disciple
Link Disciple
LIGHT Cyberse
ATK 500 / DEF 1
Link Revolution [R]
1 Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster
You can Tribute 1 monster this card points to; draw 1 card, then place 1 card from your hand on the bottom of the Deck. You can only use this effect of "Link Disciple" once per turn.

Other Useful Cards

Other Dragunity Monsters

Dragunity Arma Mystletainn
Dragunity Arma Mystletainn
WIND Dragon ★6
ATK 2100 / DEF 1500
Blackstorm Rising [R]
Dragunity Overdrive [R]
You can Special Summon this card from your hand by sending 1 face-up "Dragunity" monster you control to the Graveyard. When this card is Normal or Special Summoned from the hand, you can select 1 Dragon-Type "Dragunity" monster in your Graveyard, and equip it to this card.

You can Normal Summon Couse as cost to Special Summon Mystletainn, then Special Summon Couse with its own effect and make Ascalon. This combo can also be done if Couse is already in your graveyard, just send any other Dragunity you control to the graveyard. Overall Mystletainn is just another way to quickly get to Ascalon. There isn't really much reason to keep Mystletainn on the field as a beater when you can use it to make Ascalon for a much stronger monster.

Dragunity Phalanx
Dragunity Phalanx
WIND Dragon ★2
ATK 500 / DEF 1100
Dragunity Overdrive [SR]
Once per turn, while this card is equipped to a monster as an Equip Card by a card effect, you can Special Summon this card.

Phalanx is simply a downgraded Couse. It has the same ability of being Special Summoned while treated as an Equip card, but lacks the level modulation effect of Couse. The reason we run Phalanx is to have more targets for Cards of Consonance.

Techs

Forbidden Lance
Forbidden Lance
Quick Spell
Valhalla Calling [UR]
Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [UR]
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; until the end of this turn, that target loses 800 ATK, but is unaffected by the effects of other Spell/Trap Cards.

Use Forbidden Lance on Ascalon to make him immune to enemy backrow. Even after losing 800 ATK, Ascalon is still strong enough to deal significant damage. Also, Ascalon won't be clashing with any boss monsters; since you'll be using his removal effect to get rid of enemy monsters.

And an effective one at that. Dragunity is one of the best OTK decks around. Once you neutralize the opossing backrow, it can´t be stopped.

"Konami miscalculated with their last round of nerfs"

No miscalculation here. Not everyone had bought the new shiranui box, the full meta versions of tier 0,1,etc..
The amount of Shiranui, Invoker,.. sold just recently reached the expected profit margin to trigger the already prepared banlist.

Even now some were still buying DM, Invoke cards.

So how did this glass cannon deck reach tier 3 without crystal wing and Areadbhair?
Pretty sure you will have a hard time if CC and trunade arent in your first hand. Even if someone using CC on Course would screw your game. To make ir worst, DM trap can negate the tuner eff from the s/t zone
