“Dragunity” is an archetype of Dragon and Winged Beast-Type monsters whose effects mainly revolve around equipping the Level 3 or lower Tuner monsters to the higher Level non-Tuner ones. Once the Level 3 or lower monsters are equipped, there are multiple ways to Special Summon them from the Spell & Trap Zone, giving you access to various Synchros with powerful effects.
This Spell Card allows you to draw two cards by discard a Dragon-Type Tuner with 1000 or less ATK, we are going to use it as a way to get Dragunity Phalanx and Dragunity Aklys into the Graveyard while also going through our deck; Dragunity Partisan was not considered for this version of the deck because it has more than 1000 ATK.
Once Dragunity Phalanx or Dragunity Aklys are in the Graveyard, you can Normal Summon Dragunity Dux and use its effect to equip them to it. If you equipped Dragunity Phalanx to Dragunity Dux, you can Special Summon Dragunity Phalanx from the Spell & Trap Zone using its effect and then Special Summon a Level 6 Synchro, whereas, if you equipped Dragunity Aklys, you still have a 1900 ATK monster on the field that you could also equip with Dragunity Divine Lance.
If you Special Summoned Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana using Dragunity Dux and Dragunity Phalanx, you can equip it with the Level 2 Dragon-Type monster from the Graveyard and then Special Summon it again from the Spell & Trap Zone for a Level 8 Synchro like Stardust Dragon or you can just send it to the Graveyard with Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana’s effect to double its ATK.
Dragunity Militum is able to special summon any Dragunity monster from your Spell/Trap zone which is great for swarming and putting Tuners on the field. The downside is that unlike other Winged-Beast Dragunity monsters Dragunity Militum does not have an inherent effect to equip Dragunity monsters from the graveyard to herself.
You can normal summon Dragunity Aklys and then use his effect to special summon Dragunity Militum from your hand, and with Militum's effect special summon Aklys from the Spell/Trap zone which you can then use both monsters for a Synchro summon.
Dragunity Militum is also able to special summon Dragunity monsters equipped to other monsters. You can also equip Dragunity Militum with Dragunity Divine Lance to equip Dragunity monsters from your deck which you can special summon.
This Level 6 Dragon-Type monster can be Special Summoned from the hand by sending a face-up “Dragunity” monster you control to the Graveyard. If you send Dragunity Phalanx, you can equip it to Dragunity Arma Mystletainn and then Special Summon it from the Spell & Trap Zone for a Level 8 Synchro. An alternative way of Special Summoning Dragunity Arma Mystletainn would be to use Dragunity Aklys, but keep in mind that Mystletainn’s effect will miss the timing.
Dragunity Aklys has a pretty good effect that allows you to destroy a card on the field when it’s sent to the Graveyard while equipped to a monster. If you are familiar with “Cyberdark” and “Inzektor”, you will already know that this effect will not trigger if the monster equipped to Dragunity Aklys is destroyed or banished, but you could consider running cards like Storm, Double Cyclone or even Parallel Twister in this deck to take advantage of it.
Most of the times you will trigger Dragunity Aklys’ effect by sending it to the Graveyard with Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana; you don’t necessarily need to have Dragunity Aklys in the Graveyard in order to do this, you can just equip it from the deck to the Level 6 Synchro using Dragunity Divine Lance.
Double Cyclone gets rid of your opponent's backrow along with one of your equipped Dragunity Tuner. The best target for destruction would be Dragunity Aklys so that you can destroy another card with Dragunity Aklys' effect. You can use Dragunity Divine Lance to search your deck for Dragunity Aklys to fuel your Double Cyclone, or simply summoning some Dragunity monsters can equip Dragunity Aklys from your graveyard.
I’ve already mentioned this card a couple times, but I need to emphasize just how good it is: if you equip Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana with this card, you will be able to equip it with Dragunity Aklys from the deck, increase its ATK by its Level x100 (600) and make it immune to Trap Cards.
If you are not convinced yet, let me add one more thing: if you then send Dragunity Aklys to the Graveyard with Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana’s effect, you will be able to destroy a card on the field and double Vajrayana’s current ATK, making a 5000 ATK monster immune to Trap Cards. Honestly the opponent has to stop you before you get to this point, unless you are playing against a Spellbook player.
You can Special Summon Stardust Dragon by “Synchro Climbing”, as I’ve explained at the very beginning of the previous section, or simply using Dragunity Arma Mystletainn and one of the two Level 2 Tuners. Stardust is great against Yubel Fire King and it also benefits from the Skill we are going with.
You can choose Black-Winged Dragon as your Level 8 Synchro or just add it to your Extra Deck in exchange for one of the Level 6 ones, but I would suggest not to, as there is no way of taking advantage of its effect in this deck.
I’ve already explained what you can do with this card, so I’m not going to repeat myself, the only thing that should be noted is that its effect doubles its “current” ATK and not its original ATK.
When it attacks or is attacked, Gae Bulg allows you to banish a Winged Beast-Type monster from your Graveyard (Dragunity Dux), in order to increase its ATK by the ATK of that monster until the End Phase. You can activate Gae Bulg’s effect during the Damage Step, but you can only do this only once per Damage Step.
Gae Bulg is great against opponents that prefer not to read card effects before attacking and, if Rose Lover taught us anything, is that there are a lot of people that do it.
Most Masked HERO decks run Cosmic Cyclone, which could easily be used to prevent you from Special Summoning Dragunity Phalanx from the Spell & Trap Zone, Destiny HERO - Decider can potentially wall your high Level monsters, but you can still get rid of it with Dragunity Dux or Treacherous Trap Hole.
Dragunity Divine Lance is great in this matchup because it makes your monsters unaffected by Trap Cards such as Paleozoic Canadia, Mirror Wall and Treacherous Trap Hole, leaving Masked HERO players with only one possible play, if they weren’t able to prevent you from getting to that point: going into Masked HERO Anki.
Use Cosmic Cyclone to get rid of the Field Spell as soon as it hits the field, it will be difficult to get another one out right away. After your opponent has lowered their Life Points to set up the board, it will be easy to finish them off with Vajrayana or Gae Bulg.
A constant flow of high ATK monsters is difficult to deal with, but Gae Bulg is able to wall the opponent for an entire turn, unless you are dealing with the Psychic Ace variant of the deck or your opponent has an Enemy Controller available.
Treacherous Trap Hole is not an issue if you have Dragunity Divine Lance, unless it’s used preemptively before you are able to get your Synchro monsters out. Dragon Spirit of White can be used to get rid of your monsters in the Spell & Trap Zone, unless the opponent gets too excited and ends up chaining Silver's Cry to the activation of an effect, making the monster miss the timing.
Spellbook of Fate is one of the biggest threats for this deck, as it can easily banish your Synchros that you have been trying to Special Summon, and Silent Magician is also an issue because of its ability to negate Cards of Consonance and Dragunity Divine Lance.
Cosmic Cyclone can help you get rid of Spellbook of Fate before starting to Synchro Summon, so, while I wouldn’t call it a key card, I have to admit it is very useful in this case. Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana can get over Silent Magician LV8 by battle or with the help of Aklys, so the floating effect of Silent Magician is not really a problem.
