update 22/12/2022

Lava Golem

Lava Golem
Lava Golem
FIRE Fiend ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Yami Marik [UR]
Yami Marik event [UR]
Yami Marik Starter Deck [UR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) to your opponent's side of the field by Tributing 2 monsters they control. You cannot Normal Summon/Set the turn you Special Summon this card. During each of your Standby Phases: Take 500 damage.

Lava Golem is an good monster to use as removal. His summoning removes 2 monsters from your opponent's side of the field through tribute which is almost impossible to stop. Use this to remove monster that can't be targeted or destroyed by battle and card effect from your opponent's field.

Lava Golem also burns your opponent 500 LP during each of their standby phases. But keep in mind Lava Golem is still a 3000 attack monster, so do not put him on your opponent's board without a way of dealing with him.

Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju

Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju

FIRE Dinosaur ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 1200
Link Revolution [UR]

If your opponent controls a "Kaiju" monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in Attack Position. You can only control 1 "Kaiju" monster. Once per turn: You can remove 3 Kaiju Counters from anywhere on the field; destroy all monsters your opponent controls. This card cannot attack the turn this effect is activated.

Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [SR]
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned from your hand to your opponent's side of the field by Tributing 1 monster your opponent controls. If you Special Summon this card, you cannot Normal Summon or Set this turn.Once per turn, you can send 1 other card you control to the Graveyard to inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. During your End Phase, either Tribute 1 other monster or take 1000 damage.

Attack Blockers

Kiteroid
Kiteroid
WIND Machine ★1
ATK 200 / DEF 400
Card Trader [SR]
Activate when you discard this card from your hand during damage calculation after a direct attack. Any Battle Damage you would receive from that direct attack becomes 0. Only once, if you remove this card from the game when it is in your Graveyard, any Battle Damage you would receive from a direct attack becomes 0.

Prevents OTKs similar to Sphere Kuriboh. Keep it in your hand to avoid damage from a direct attack, then later banish it from the graveyard to avoid damage from another direct attack.

Kuriboh
Kuriboh
DARK Fiend ★1
ATK 300 / DEF 200
Ranked Rewards [SR]

Wightprincess

Wightprincess
Wightprincess
DARK Zombie ★3
ATK 1600 / DEF 0

This card’s name becomes "Skull Servant" while it is in the Graveyard. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 "Wightprince" from your Deck to the Graveyard. During either player's turn: You can send this card from your hand or field to the Graveyard; all monsters currently on the field lose ATK and DEF equal to their own Level/Rank x 300, until the end of this turn.

LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 2000

Photons of Galaxy [UR]
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR] [UR]

Number 70: Malevolent Sin
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
DARK Insect ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3.

Other Cards Option

Ritual Beast Engine

Spiritual Beast Tamer Winda
Spiritual Beast Tamer Winda
WIND Psychic ★4
ATK 1600 / DEF 1800
Spirit of the Beast [UR]
If this card in its owner's possession is destroyed by an opponent's card (by battle or card effect): You can Special Summon 1 "Ritual Beast" monster from your Deck or Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions. You can only Special Summon "Spiritual Beast Tamer Winda(s)" once per turn.

Easily splashable monster in any deck, not because of its stats, but because of how easily it can become either a high ATK beater or a high DEF monster to block attacks. Therefore, just crash Winda into an enemy monster or have your opponent destroy her to get a free Ritual Beast Fusion monster onboard or just keep stalling by special summon Winda once again.

Ritual Beast Ulti-Apelio
Ritual Beast Ulti-Apelio
WIND Pyro ★6
ATK 2600 / DEF 400
Spirit of the Beast [UR]
1 "Ritual Beast Tamer" monster + 1 "Spiritual Beast" monster
Must be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by banishing the above cards you control, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. (You do not use "Polymerization".) If this card attacks, it is unaffected by other cards' effects until the end of the Damage Step. During either player's turn: You can return this card you control to the Extra Deck, then target 2 of your banished monsters (1 "Ritual Beast Tamer" monster and 1 "Spiritual Beast" monster); Special Summon them in Defense Position.

Its last effect is unusable in this deck since there aren't any "Ritual Beast Tamer"s, but it's still useful as a beater with a good chance of being able to attack.

Unaffected by other card effects when it's attacking gives it a strong immunity to literally everything. Allowing you to attack safely even if you know your opponent is playing something like a Drowning Mirror Force or Sphere Kuriboh.

Ritual Beast Ulti-Pettlephin
Ritual Beast Ulti-Pettlephin
WIND Aqua ★6
ATK 200 / DEF 2800
Spirit of the Beast [R]
1 "Ritual Beast Tamer" monster + 1 "Spiritual Beast" monster
Must be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by banishing the above cards you control, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. (You do not use "Polymerization".) Cannot be destroyed by card effects. During either player's turn: You can return this card you control to the Extra Deck, then target 2 of your banished monsters (1 "Ritual Beast Tamer" monster and 1 "Spiritual Beast" monster); Special Summon them in Defense Position.

Has high DEF and can't be destroyed by card effects. Provides a good answer to decks that relies on destroying through card effects like Fire Kings or Yubel - Terror Incarnate.

Abyss Actor Engine

Abyss Actor - Wild Hope
Abyss Actor - Wild Hope
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1600 / DEF 1200
Force of Infinity [SR]
Pendulum Effect
Once per turn: You can target 1 "Abyss Actor" card in your other Pendulum Zone; its Pendulum Scale becomes 9 until the end of this turn, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except "Abyss Actor" monsters (even if this card leaves the field).

Monster Effect
Once per turn: You can make this card gain 100 ATK for each "Abyss Actor" monster with different names you currently control, until the end of this turn. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can add 1 "Abyss Actor" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Abyss Actor - Wild Hope". You can only use this effect of "Abyss Actor - Wild Hope" once per turn.

Wild Hope can search for Sassy Rookie when it is destroyed by battle or card effect.

Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie
Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 1000
Force of Infinity [R]
Pendulum Effect
If an "Abyss Actor" monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect, you can destroy this card instead.

Monster Effect
The first time this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect each turn, it is not destroyed. If this card is destroyed by battle, or if this card in its owner's Monster Zone is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Abyss Actor" monster from your Deck, except "Abyss Actor - Sassy Rookie". If this card in the Pendulum Zone is destroyed: You can target 1 Level 4 or lower monster your opponent controls; destroy it.

It's a pretty good defensive card, especially for turn 1 plays. With just 1 sassy rookie, you can end up blocking 3 attacks, and if you special summoned Wild Hope when Sassy is destroyed, Wild Hope can get its search effect off when destroyed. However, just 1 of it is not enough if you go against Cyber Slash Harpie Lady.

Tribute Fodder

Mithra the Thunder Vassal
Mithra the Thunder Vassal
LIGHT Thunder ★2
ATK 800 / DEF 1000
Empire of Scarlet [SR]
Selection Box Vol. 02 [SR]
If this card is in your hand: You can activate this effect; you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, also Special Summon this card, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Vassal Token" (Thunder-Type/LIGHT/Level 1/ATK 800/DEF 1000) to your opponent's field in Defense Position. If this card is Tributed for a Tribute Summon: You can activate this effect; you can Tribute Summon 1 monster during your Main Phase this turn, in addition to your Normal Summon/Set this turn. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) You can only use each effect of "Mithra the Thunder Vassal" once per turn.

Can be special summon from and your hand and give 1 "Vassal Token" to your opponent's field. After that, you can special summon Laval Golem or Santa Claws by removing the token to your opponent's field. This method can prevent OTK from your opponent who uses Lava Golem or Santa Claws on their next turn.

Ghostrick Yuki-onna

Ghostrick Yuki-onna
Ghostrick Yuki-onna
DARK Spellcaster ★2
ATK 1000 / DEF 800
Bonz at Lvl 38 [SR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned, unless you control a "Ghostrick" monster. Once per turn: You can change this card to face-down Defense Position. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: You can change the monster that destroyed it to face-down Defense Position, and if you do, it cannot change its battle position.

This card’s effect puts the monster that destroyed it in face-down defense position, after which it can’t change its position anymore, just like the effect of “Floodgate Trap Hole”. A very good effect in a deck that aims to stall.

Other Block Attack Techs

Arcana Force XIV - Temperance
Arcana Force XIV - Temperance
LIGHT Fairy ★6
ATK 2400 / DEF 2400
Sartorius Kumar Unlock Event [SR]
During damage calculation, in either player's turn: You can discard this card; you take no Battle Damage from that battle. When this card is Summoned: Toss a coin and apply this effect. The effect lasts while this card is face-up on the field.● Heads: Halve all Battle Damage you take.● Tails: Halve all Battle Damage your opponent takes.
Sphere Kuriboh
Sphere Kuriboh
DARK Fiend ★1
ATK 300 / DEF 200
The Ultimate Rising [UR]
When an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; change the attacking monster to Defense Position. When you Ritual Summon a monster, you can banish this card from your Graveyard as 1 of the monsters required for the Ritual Summon.

Santa Claws

Santa Claws
Santa Claws
LIGHT Fiend ★6
ATK 1200 / DEF 2500
Force of Infinity [SR]
You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) to your opponent's field in Defense Position, by Tributing 1 monster they control. If Summoned this way, once, during the End Phase of this turn: You can draw 1 card.

Another good monster to use as monster removal. But you opponent will draw 1 card after you special summon Santa Claws to your opponent's field by this effect.

Stardust Spark Dragon & Stardust Re-Spark

Similar to Counter Gate's effect, but Stardust Re-Spark can be used to special summon Stardust Spark Dragon in a pinch.

When your opponent tries to go for the win with an attack from a special summoned monster, activate Stardust Re-Spark to special summon Stardust Spark Dragon. Then, activate Stardust Spark Dragon's effect to make itself cannot be destroyed by battle and survive from OTK.

Stardust Spark Dragon
Stardust Spark Dragon
LIGHT Dragon ★8
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Future Horizon [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 face-up card you control; once during this turn, it cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects.
Stardust Re-Spark
Stardust Re-Spark
Normal Trap
Stardust Acceleration [N]
Future Horizon [N]
Stardust Nexus [N]
When an opponent's Special Summoned monster declares a direct attack, if its ATK is greater than or equal to your LP: Negate the attack, and if you do, draw 1 card, then you can Special Summon 1 "Stardust" monster from your Extra Deck or Graveyard. You can only activate 1 "Stardust Re-Spark" per turn.

Techs

Breakthrough Skill
Breakthrough Skill
Normal Trap
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR]
Target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; that face-up monster your opponent controls has its effects negated until the end of this turn. During your turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; that target has its effects negated until the end of this turn.

Breakthrough Skill's effect is very relevant and can help stop your opponent's plays. While it may have a more limited use compared to something like Forbidden Chalice, not having a boost ATK effect and being able to use it a second time can be beneficial in a lot of situations.

The fact that it can be used again in the graveyard is an added bonus. This makes it still useful even if your opponent destroys your back row before you get to use it. However, the second effect only works during your turn, and only the turn after it's sent to the grave.

Fiendish Chain
Fiendish Chain
Continuous Trap
Selection Box Vol. 03 [UR]
Shining Hope [UR]
Activate this card by targeting 1 Effect Monster on the field; negate that face-up monster's effects, also that face-up monster cannot attack. When it is destroyed, destroy this card.

Stops attack and potential combos from being performed. You can even use it against Lava Golem when there is no other option. However, it can be stopped if your opponent chains a quick-play spell/trap removal. This also doesn't stop your opponent from using the affected monster into a synchro or XYZ.

Floodgate Trap Hole
Floodgate Trap Hole
Normal Trap
Generation Next [UR]
When your opponent Summons a monster(s): Change that monster(s) to face-down Defense Position. Monsters changed to face-down Defense Position by this effect cannot change their battle positions.

Floodgate Trap Hole is less versatile than Paleozoic Canadia sometimes since it cannot be activated during Battle Phase, but it can locks the opponent’s monster it from flipping face-down itself on the next turn.

Other Extra Monsters

Gachi Gachi Gantetsu
Gachi Gachi Gantetsu
EARTH Rock ★2
ATK 500 / DEF 1800
Antinomic Theory [SR]
2 Level 2 monsters
If this face-up card would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead. Face-up monsters you control gain 200 ATK and DEF for each Xyz Material attached to this card.

For defensive stalling or to get some small ATK boost to your other monsters.

you don't understand what your saying buddy.
the numbers prove that stall have the highest win rate per farm time.
they don't follow archetypes and don't necessitate buying new cards each time new ban list limits your current cards.
other decks have to be entirely modified when impacted by banlists ->more expensive.
only whales see that normal

This only applies to F2P Lava Golem users idiot.
They are so money-less and so F2P that they have to resort to that card to be competitive.

Good job Konami for teaching them that no F2P are allowed to be good at this game. Nerfing LG was the right way to burry F2P.
