Overview

Aster Phoenix (Edo Phoenix in JP) is a professional duelist and a child prodigy. Famous for being a celebrity, he made an impact around the world, introducing Duel Monsters to the masses. Making an appearance in the second season of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, he is better known to be the anti-hero counterpart to Jaden, and was able to be one of the few people who were able to beat Jaden Yuki in a duel.

How to unlock

Once you summon DARK-attribute Monster(s) 200x in GX World, Aster Phoenix unlock missions will appear. Complete all the missions to unlock Aster Phoenix as a playable character!

Destiny Calling Can be used after your Life Points are at 2000 or below. Play the Field Spell "Dark City." If there already is Field Spell on your side of the Field, return it to your hand. This skill can only be used once per Duel.	Lv4
Master of Fusion Can be used each time your Life Points decrease by 1800. In the Draw Phase, instead of doing a normal draw, Polymerization spell card, from outside of your Deck, is added to your hand.	Lv13
Reinforcements Can be used each time your Life Points decrease by 1800. Return 1 card from your hand to your Deck and draw a random Warrior-Type monster.	Lv20

Destiny End Dragoon

Created by Aster Phoenix's father, Aster uses a Destiny Hero deck, consisting of Dark Warrior-Type monsters that resembles the "Elemental HERO" archetype that Jaden uses. Its playstyle revolves around using Clock Tower Prison by stalling the duel, and then destroying the field spell to special summon Destiny HERO - Dreadmaster, along with the other destiny hero monsters for a beatdown.

I mean look at the similarities. The laugh. The ego. The destined talk about his father who made heroes card specially for him. Pegasus obsessed with cartoons that usually have heroes. Dress sense. Mythically named.
Maybe Pegasus's real name is Pegasus Phoenix...a double mythical hit.

Pegasus is still very alive in GX, and he and Aster have scenes together. In the English dub, Aster's dad is voiced by Goku.

I was able to unlock Aster but even after unlocking him he doesn't appear at the Duel Gate? How do I get him to appear at the Duel Gate so I can farm for his cards

i hope you are not using aster while searching him at the gate. he will only appear if you use other chars.

Anyone else finding D heroes extremely underwhelming, I mean plasma is an alright ultra rare monster, but the rest of the cards seem to only be good for swarming the field with other D heroes to tribute him and the supports aren't great either, no clocktower or D force cards to make spell combos.

Yeah, but at least E heroes have fusion supports, the the only e hero really being hung out to dry right now is Neos with no fusion cards, hopefully they'll add some more cards in the next booster box, since the amount of cards needed to make these deck useable exceeds the limit in a mini box

The current E hero fusions aren't good enough to make them viable though. The only decent one is Thunder Giant iirc

flame wingman pretty good if you get him out early enough you can get a fast effect damage win, but yeah, no phoenix enforcer, not even the elemental hero blade edge who was his jadens key card early season

Im disappointed with d heroes. I definitely expected clock tower prison and dreadmaster, and maybe some decent support, but this? I farmed 3 Diamond dudes (my favourite, hes cool), 3 double dudes and 3 of the 1k beaters but I must say, I was so disappointed in how weak it is, compared to cyber angels. Its shocking that alexis gets better support than the main character and the heroes in general. Tried an e.hero fusion flame wingman skyscraper deck but its just not good. Hopefully they buff eheroes and dheroes so we see perhaps a positive change in the meta.

Hopefully, they will do some roaming events (the same as Super Joey, Elegant Mai, etc.) for the GX characters so that there will be more cards that support their decks. Especially Aster.

I hope so too. Clock Tower Prison would be a nice reward. My best bet is it'll be a part of a future event like Super Joey and Elegant Mai unless they are planning to have it as part of a box later on. All we have to do is wait and see how those cards will be released.

You could try adding thunder dragons in as a mini support engine for deck thinning and for twin-headed thunder dragon. With recycling plant and king of the swamp and the burstinatrix and avian, probably run 2 of each, It could very well work. However if you have Thunder Giant feel free to replace the flame wingman stuff. This should make the deck a bit more usable

In the Character Unlock Missions page it says: Aster Unlock Missions appear once you summon DARK-attribute Monster(s) 200 time(s) in total.

So... Which one is it? Do the dark monsters need to be summoned specifically in the GX World, or can they be summoned in any duel?
