I remember when yugioh TCG was first released in 2002. All the card effects are easy to understand just like this one.
"Destroy the attacking monster."
This is good and simple.
"Target that attacking monster; destroy that target."
This is what happened to most of the cards. Why do you need to 'target' before destroying? The game would be much more better if Komoney stop playing with the words!
They did it just to introduce more "new" mechanics-cards to the game. In the end they had to make 2, 3 even 5 times erratas to old cards. That made the game MUCH more complicated and frustrating in TCG tournaments, were you had to tripple check if the card actually targets or not.
