Yubel Fire King: deck recipe [Jan 9]

Duel Links Yubel Fire King deck, Yubel Fire King in the current meta, how to use.
update 09/01/2023

Overview

The concept behind this deck is actually quite old: Yubel synergizes very well with the “Fire King” archetype and its second form, Yubel - Terror Incarnate.

How to Use

True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher

True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher
True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher
FIRE Wyrm ★9
ATK 2900 / DEF 1900
Selection Box Vol.05 [UR]
If this card is in your hand: You can destroy 2 other monsters in your hand and/or face-up on your field, including a FIRE monster, and if you do, Special Summon this card, and if you do that, you can banish 1 monster from your opponent's field or Graveyard, if both the destroyed monsters were FIRE. If this card is destroyed by card effect: You can add 1 non-FIRE Wyrm-Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand. You can only use each effect of "True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher" once per turn.

It's a powerful boss monster since it has a non-targeting monster removal effect. The cost of summoning isn't a big issue in this deck since your Fire King monsters have effects when destroyed.

Ideally, you want to use a Fire King High Avatar Garunix or Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys for Wipe Monster and Backrow.

Arvata is good too since it can special summon a monster from your graveyard. The special summoned monster is negated so it's mostly just to have another monster on the field for tribute or help with OTK.

Yubel & Fire King Island

Yubel
Yubel
DARK Fiend ★10
ATK 0 / DEF 0
Yubel at Lvl 45 [UR]
Special Pack Vol. 02 [UR]
Yubel Unlock Event: Rise of the Yubel, the Ultimate Nightmare [UR]
Rise of the Yubel - Soul Polymerization [UR]
This card cannot be destroyed by battle. You take no Battle Damage from battles involving this card. Before damage calculation, when this face-up Attack Position card is attacked by an opponent's monster: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK. During your End Phase: Tribute 1 other monster or destroy this card. When this card is destroyed, except by its own effect: Its owner can Special Summon 1 "Yubel - Terror Incarnate" from their hand, Deck, or Graveyard.
Fire King Island
Fire King Island
Field Spell
Dawn of Destiny [R]
If this face-up card in the Field Zone is sent to the Graveyard or banished: Destroy all monsters you control. You can only use 1 of the following effects of "Fire King Island" per turn, and only once that turn.
● During your Main Phase: You can destroy 1 monster in your hand or you control, and if you do, add 1 "Fire King" monster from your Deck to your hand.
● If you control no monsters: You can Special Summon 1 FIRE Winged Beast-Type monster from your hand.

You want to at least start the Duel with these two cards.

Once per turn, you can destroy a monster in your hand or that you control with Fire King Island and then add a “Fire King” monster from your deck to your hand or, if you control no monsters, you can Special Summon 1 Winged-Beast FIRE monster from your hand.

The first part of the effect of the Field Spell allows you to trigger Yubel’s effect and Special Summon Yubel - Terror Incarnate from your hand, Deck or Graveyard while also adding a Fire King monster to your hand. Whereas second effect is used to get Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys or High Garunix on the field right away.

My Name is Yubel allows you shuffle back into the Deck one of the two other forms of the monster and add a copy of the first form to your hand, making the deck more consistent.

Fire King High Avatar Garunix

Fire King High Avatar Garunix
Fire King High Avatar Garunix
FIRE Winged Beast ★8
ATK 2700 / DEF 1700
Return of the Fire Kings [UR]
During the next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard: Special Summon this card from the Graveyard. When you do: Destroy all other monsters on the field. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Fire King" monster from your Deck, except "Fire King High Avatar Garunix".

High Avatar Garunix is another boss monster of the deck with high destructive power like Yubel - Terror Incarnate. Destroy High Avatar Garunix from your hand with effects like Fire King Island, Arvata, etc. and wait for till your next turn for mass destruction. You can also fetch High Avatar Garunix directly from the deck with Onslaught of the Fire Kings.

If High Avatar Garunix is destroyed by battle, you can float into Arvata. Then when Arvata is destroyed, float into High Avatar Garunix again.

Fire King Avatar Monsters

Fire King Avatar Arvata
Fire King Avatar Arvata
FIRE Beast-Warrior ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF 200
Rage of Volcano [SR]
When a monster effect is activated while this monster is on the field (Quick Effect): You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy 1 other FIRE monster in your hand or field. If this card is destroyed and sent to the GY: You can target 1 FIRE Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast monster in your GY, except "Fire King Avatar Arvata"; Special Summon it, but it has its effects negated, also it is destroyed during the End Phase. You can only use each effect of "Fire King Avatar Arvata" once per turn.

In a monster effect heavy meta, Arvata performs well in disrupting enemy plays. For example you can negate Noble Knight Medraut to stop a Noble Knight deck from performing its combo. This negation is not once per turn, and you can keep using it as long as you have monsters to destroy. The second reason this effect is so powerful is because it triggers the effects of your Fire Kings. Destroy High Avatar Garunix or Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys to prepare a zone wipe.

Arvata's floating effect is another reason why he is a good monster to have on-board. In case Arvata is destroyed, you can revive High Avatar Garunix to fall back on. Then during the opponent's End Phase, the revived High Avatar Garunix will be destroyed, preparing a monster wipe come your Standby Phase. The floating effect also comes in handy when Arvata is destroyed by your own High Avatar Garunix or Terror Incarnate, letting you replace Arvata with another body. Revive Barong so that you can search when he self destructs.

Fire King Avatar Yaksha
Fire King Avatar Yaksha
FIRE Beast-Warrior ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF 200
Dawn of Destiny [R]
If a face-up "Fire King" monster you control is destroyed by a card effect (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: You can destroy 1 card in your hand or that you control. You can only use this effect of "Fire King Avatar Yaksha" once per turn.

If you did not start with Fire King Island, don’t worry, you can still activate Yubel’s effect: when Yaksha is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard, you can destroy a card in your hand or that you control.

Yaksha’s effect is not mandatory, so you don’t have to activate it, but you can use it to destroy High Garunix to the Graveyard and destroy monster cards respectively it’s revived by its own effect on your next turn.

Fire King Avatar Barong
Fire King Avatar Barong
FIRE Beast-Warrior ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF 200
Blades of Spirit [R]
If a face-up "Fire King" monster you control is destroyed by a card effect (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand. During the next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard: Add 1 "Fire King" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Fire King Avatar Barong".

You can’t activate Fire King Island’s effect unless you have a “Fire King” monster in your Deck to add to your hand. Barong has the exact same stats as Yaksha and, just like it, it can be Special Summoned from your hand when a face-up “Fire King” monster you control is destroyed by card effect.
If Barong is destroyed by card effect, you can add another “Fire King” card from your deck to your hand during the next Standby Phase, including the Field Spell. This makes Barong your most versatile searcher.

Yubel - Terror Incarnate

Yubel - Terror Incarnate
Yubel - Terror Incarnate
DARK Fiend ★11
ATK 0 / DEF 0
Ranked Rewards [UR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned by "Yubel", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card cannot be destroyed by battle. You take no Battle Damage from battles involving this card. Before damage calculation, when this face-up Attack Position card is attacked by an opponent's monster: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK. During your End Phase: Destroy all other monsters on the field. When this face-up card leaves the field: You can Special Summon 1 "Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare" from your hand, Deck or Graveyard.

Yubel - Terror Incarnate destroys all monsters on the field, except for itself during your End Phase: which will allows you wiping out all monsters including yours like High Avatar Garunix that can be special summoned and attack directly.

Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare

Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare
Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare
DARK Fiend ★12
ATK 0 / DEF 0
Ranked Rewards [UR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned by "Yubel - Terror Incarnate", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card cannot be destroyed by battle. You take no Battle Damage from battles involving this card. At the end of the Damage Step, if this face-up Attack Position card battles with an opponent's monster: Inflict damage equal to that monster's ATK to your opponent, also destroy that monster.

The best thing about Yubel is easily the fact that, when it is destroyed by card effect, it floats into its next form, but there is to say that the “final form” is a bit underwhelming compared to the second. Sure, you can attack your opponent’s monsters, deal effect damage equal to their attack and then destroy them, but it just doesn’t compare to blowing up all monsters on the field. Still you should run at least one copy of Ultimate Nightmare to have something to fall back on when Terror Incarnate is destroyed. This also counts another search card for Yubel with the Skill My Name is Yubel.

Battlin Boxer Veil

Battlin Boxer Veil
Battlin Boxer Veil
FIRE Warrior ★4
ATK 0 / DEF 1800
Rage of Volcano [R]
When you take battle damage: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, gain Life Points equal to the damage you took.

Keep Veil in your hand until you take your first large amount of damage. Then Special Summon him to effectively nullify the damage from that attack, and getting a body on board to catch a subsequent attack. If Veil survives till your next turn, you can use it as Xyz material.

Techs

Dark Hole
Dark Hole
Normal Spell
Future Circuit [SR]
Destroy all monsters on the field.
Fire Formation - Tenki
Fire Formation - Tenki
Continuous Spell
Eternal Stream [SR]
When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Fire Formation - Tenki" per turn.

Additional Notes

Skills

Yubel
Yubel

This Skill makes the deck a lot more consistent, making it easier to start your main combo. You obviously don’t want to Special Summon Terror Incarnate or Ultimate Nightmare from your hand and My Name is Yubel allows you to shuffle them back into the Deck.

Other Cards Option

Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys

Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys
Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys
FIRE Winged Beast ★8
ATK 2400 / DEF 1600
Dawn of Destiny [UR]
During your next Standby Phase after this card was destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard: Special Summon this card from the Graveyard. When you do: Destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field.

Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys Special Summons itself from the Graveyard during your Standby Phase after it was destroyed by card effect, destroying all Spell/Trap Cards on the field. This will allows you to attack your opponent directly without worrying your opponent's backrow.

Block Attack

Kiteroid
Kiteroid
WIND Machine ★1
ATK 200 / DEF 400
Card Trader [SR]
Activate when you discard this card from your hand during damage calculation after a direct attack. Any Battle Damage you would receive from that direct attack becomes 0. Only once, if you remove this card from the game when it is in your Graveyard, any Battle Damage you would receive from a direct attack becomes 0.
Sphere Kuriboh
Sphere Kuriboh
DARK Fiend ★1
ATK 300 / DEF 200
The Ultimate Rising [UR]
Selection Box Vol. 01 [UR]
When an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; change the attacking monster to Defense Position. When you Ritual Summon a monster, you can banish this card from your Graveyard as 1 of the monsters required for the Ritual Summon.

Since Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys is going to destroy your own Spell/Traps too, you can’t really run common Battle Traps like Wall of Disruption or even cards like Paleozoic Canadia because you run the risk of wasting them; Sphere Kuriboh is great in this deck because it’s a Hand Trap, your opponent can’t do anything about it Hey, Trunade! or Cosmic Cyclone.

Sphere Kuriboh can avoid OTKs from decks like Masked HEROes, Fur Hires and Vampires while you wait for Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys to come back.

Fire King Avatar Garunix

Fire King Avatar Garunix
Fire King Avatar Garunix
FIRE Winged Beast ★4
ATK 700 / DEF 1700
Return of the Fire Kings [SR]
If a face-up "Fire King" monster you control is destroyed by a card effect (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Fire King Avatar" monster from your Deck.

Garunix floats into any Fire King monster except High Avatar Garunix. Most of the time you'll use this to put Arvata on the field. You also Special Summon Barong if you want an archetype-wide search effect.

Onslaught of the Fire Kings

Onslaught of the Fire Kings
Onslaught of the Fire Kings
Normal Spell
Return of the Fire Kings [SR]
If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters: Special Summon 1 FIRE Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster from your Deck. Its effects are negated and it is destroyed during the End Phase. You can only activate 1 "Onslaught of the Fire Kings" per turn.

Straight up Special Summons High Avatar Garunix from the deck, then destroys it to prepare for a monster wipe the next turn. The Special Summoned monster can still attack so you can use this to push damage.

Circle of the Fire Kings

Circle of the Fire Kings
Circle of the Fire Kings
Quick Spell
Return of the Fire Kings [UR]
Target 1 FIRE monster you control and 1 FIRE monster in your Graveyard; destroy that monster you control, and if you do, Special Summon that other monster from your Graveyard. You can only activate 1 "Circle of the Fire Kings" per turn.

Destroy High Avatar Garunix and revive Arvata. Do this at the start of the opponent's turn, preparing Arvata to disrupt their plays. When your Standby Phase comes, High Avatar Garunix is revived and Arvata is destroyed. Arvata then floats into another Fire King so you should have enough ATK on-board to OTK.

nearly a year and this deck still doesn't have an out to "keep setting monsters one at a time until you can bring out Stardust Dragon," lol

You know... forbidden chalice is an old card, I think it's been released in 2017

I wonder why you don't know it

Don't need to. This deck is not that hard to play against.

just because there is a yubel event everyone is using it now. man... this piece of 🔥 deck forces me to use buster blader deck. just 🔥 off from the ranked, will ya!

It looks pretty pretty good. Thanks

I just hit KoG with Yubel mill in a format full of Koaki Meiru no-brainers. I won 12 out of 12 games vs Koaki Meiru through Legend. Dont hate on this deck only because it does well into your Meta trash. The only thing this deck struggled with was e-con and U.A./Amazoness banishing Terror.

My recommendation is to not use sphere ebola but regular ebola instead. If you’ve got shallow grave use that, Ultimate nightmare will do its best to neutralize the shallow grave downside

Using regular Ebola vs Sphere Ebola let’s you survive armades and U.A slugger by affecting you vs changing their battle position.

Armades and Mighty Slugger aren't Star Eater. They don't give a crap what's affected. You just straight can't activate anything, including Kuriboh.

an update about this mill strategy: Koa'ki meiru are using canadia to flip Ultimate terror facedown

I think they caught on so this deck isn't an auto win if your opponent knows what to do

LOL you was just lucky playing against noobs in the end of season! Lol

Lol I think people kinda hates this deck because it's pretty much f2p. Not really expensive at all, most of its cards are from an event and phoenix is not expensive at all. (Excluding Sphere kuriboh's ofc). But you can play it without them.

You cant play this deck without Sphere Kuriboh

Masked heroes and Koakis will make Hamburgers from you because no background trap protection
<< Anonymous

Actually you can (sphere is the best card to use but you can run this deck with 2 econs, tribute/offering of the doomed and a wall of disruption in place of the spheres, not as survivable but MUCH cheaper than going through ultimate rising for 1 card)
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
LOL what?
Wall of disruption in Sacred phoenix deck?
Also it is not survivable at all
The main advantage of the Sphere kuriboh is that you can activate it from your hand, while the placed traps can easily be removed.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Well yeah, basically this deck is F2P. Phoenix is not hard to obtain and the only expensive card you'll need would be Sphere Kuribohs (which you can get thanks to Dream Tickets).

To be fair, it's a pretty boring deck to face, especially if you don't have a lot of outs to Yubel. I actually encountered someone USING the deck getting bored of it and Tributing their Terror Incarnate off just to try and get some damage in, lol.

The deck isnt that bad, all you really need is a single destruction card or forbidden chalice to break the chain (only problem is if they get phoenix and TI on the field, and with how often this bricks? Not much of a problem if you include some counter cards.

BBlader the Dragon Destruction Swordmaster + DNA Surgery shuts down final Yubel's effect or not? The one time I fought someone with Yubel I pulled out my boss monster + DNA Surgery field which meant I didn't have time to check for interactions.

You dont need to negate her effect, just activate dna surgery and offer her as a tribute to summon your busterblader the destruction swordsman from your extra deck lol

This deck is so broken and still loses to even more broken decks.. Too many decks with blow

I tried the Mill warm worm version and Phoenix Calculator beatdown

After hundreds of games I reached KOG with the mix version of both

In Deck Destruction Version, I feel like Shallow Grave isn't the optimal ones to revive Warm Worm because it's giving a room for opponent's counterplay. Can other revival cards for the deck be used, or was it intended to use so that Yubel/s can have an attack target as well on the opponent's side of the field?
<< Anonymous
Rhysk Reply
You could use Limit Reverse, and replace Double Trap Hole with Windstorm of Etaqua or some other stall card.

I personally prefer Limit, since it can draw your opponent's anti-S/T cards. Plus if you use it during your opponent's turn, you can swap the revived monster to defense mode in order to blow it up, to trigger any related destruction effects.
<< Anonymous(Rhysk)
Rhysk Reply
Shallow Grave is still very effective though, since if you have Terror Incarnate on the field, all monsters summoned by Shallow will be destroyed during your End Phase anyway. Plus, Shallow isn't limited strictly to monsters with 1000 or less attack, so it could work with Phoenix, if you run a copy or two.
