Duel Links Koa'ki Meiru Deck, How to Use, Koa'ki Meiru Deck Skill.
update 13/09/2022

Overview

The “Koa'ki Meiru” archetype revolves around Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru; the vast majority of the monsters self-destruct during the End Phase unless you send this Spell Card to the Graveyard or reveal a certain type of card from your hand.

How to Play

  • There are a lot of “Koa'ki Meiru” cards, so, naturally, there are also a lot of different decks that you can make with them, but the one that has seemingly been the most successful so far is this one.

Koa'ki Meiru Maximus

Koaki Meiru Maximus
Koaki Meiru Maximus
WIND Dragon ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Gaia Genesis [R]
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by removing from play 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your hand. During each of your End Phases, destroy this card unless you send 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" or 1 "Koa'ki Meiru" monster from your hand to the Graveyard. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can select and destroy 1 card your opponent controls.

As I said in the Overview, the “Koa'ki Meiru” archetype revolves around a card in particular: Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru. Iron Core can be recycled from the Graveyard via its effect, so, even if a monster requires you to discard it, you are not going to run out of them, but the case is different with Koa'ki Meiru Maximus because this Level 8 monster can only be Special Summoned by banishing the Spell Card.

If Iron Core is banished, there aren’t many ways to retrieve it consistently. In addition to requiring you to banish Iron Core in order to be Summoned, Maximus doesn’t just ask you to reveal a card during the End Phase: you will have to discard a copy of Iron Core or a “Koa'ki Meiru” monster, otherwise it will destroy itself during the End Phase.

This deck is built to make explosive, aggressive plays, so it generally doesn’t care about maintaining this monster, but, thanks to Diamond Core, you don’t necessarily have to discard anything during the End Phase.

Once per turn, Koa'ki Meiru Maximus allows you to destroy a card your opponent controls. You can destroy a Set Spell/Trap Card or a monster and, if you have more than one Maximus on the field, you can use this effect with both of them.

Koa'ki Meiru Monsters

Koaki Meiru Urnight
Koaki Meiru Urnight
EARTH Beast-Warrior ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 1500
Gaia Genesis [SR]
During each of your End Phases, destroy this card unless you send 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your hand to the Graveyard or reveal 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster in your hand. Once per turn, you can reveal 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" in your hand to Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Koa'ki Meiru" monster from your Deck, except "Koa'ki Meiru Urnight".

Maximus alone isn’t enough to deal with everything your opponent has on the field and, even though it does have a lot of ATK, it’s not going to be enough for an OTK.

Once per turn, Koa'ki Meiru Urnight can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower “Koa'ki Meiru” monster from your Deck, except another Koa'ki Meiru Urnight, if you reveal an Iron Core from your hand.

Koaki Meiru Sandman
Koaki Meiru Sandman
EARTH Rock ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 1200
Gaia Genesis [SR]
During each of your End Phases, destroy this card unless you send 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your hand to the Graveyard or reveal 1 Rock-Type monster in your hand. During either player's turn, when your opponent activates a Trap Card: You can Tribute this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

Use Koa'ki Meiru Urnight’s effect to Special Summon Sandman and then Special Summon Koa'ki Meiru Maximus. Now you have a board full of monsters, Maximus’ destruction effect and Sandman’s negation for a Trap Card.

Koaki Meiru Wall
Koaki Meiru Wall
EARTH Rock ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 1200
Revolution Beginning [R]
During each of your End Phases, destroy this card unless you send 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your hand to the Graveyard or reveal 1 Rock-Type monster in your hand. During either player's turn, when your opponent activates a Spell Card: You can Tribute this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

If not Sandman, you can choose to bring out Wall to prevent cards like Book of Moon from stopping your Maximus.

This also stops your opponent from using Mystical Space Typhoon on your set cards if you want to set Book of Moon or any traps you might want to play.

Koaki Meiru Ice
Koaki Meiru Ice
WATER Aqua ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 1200
Gaia Genesis [R]
During each of your End Phases, destroy this card unless you send 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your hand to the Graveyard or reveal 1 Continuous Spell Card in your hand. You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to destroy 1 Special Summoned monster on the field.

Ice is more of a turn 2 or higher card. Since most strong monsters are most likely special summoned monsters, Ice will most likely be able to deal with a lot of boss monsters.

Unfortunately, this effect does indeed target, despite not being written that way. The good thing is that this can even still destroy face-down special summoned monsters, allowing you to destroy your opponent's monster that you Book of Moon'ed without having to attack.

Diamond Core of Koa'ki Meiru

Diamond Core of Koaki Meiru
Diamond Core of Koaki Meiru
Normal Spell
Revolution Beginning [SR]
Add 1 "Koa'ki Meiru" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Diamond Core of Koa'ki Meiru". You can banish this card from your Graveyard; for the rest of this turn, "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters you control cannot be destroyed.

Use Diamond Core to add Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru, Koa'ki Meiru Urnight or Koa'ki Meiru Maximus from your Deck to your hand. You can’t add another Diamond Core to your hand, but there is no restriction on how many you can activate in a turn.

If all of this wasn’t enough, you can banish Diamond Core from your Graveyard to prevent all “Koa'ki Meiru” monsters you control from being destroyed this turn. You can activate this effect the same turn you activated Diamond Core and make your monsters immune to cards like Treacherous Trap Hole, Widespread Ruin and Super Rush Headlong.

Since your monsters can’t be destroyed by battle this turn, you can also safely attack monsters with the same ATK with them. Most of the times you do not want to add Koa'ki Meiru Sandman to your hand with Diamond Core because Koa'ki Meiru Urnight can Special Summon it from your Deck.

Kiteroid

Kiteroid
Kiteroid
WIND Machine ★1
ATK 200 / DEF 400
Card Trader [SR]
Activate when you discard this card from your hand during damage calculation after a direct attack. Any Battle Damage you would receive from that direct attack becomes 0. Only once, if you remove this card from the game when it is in your Graveyard, any Battle Damage you would receive from a direct attack becomes 0.

Prevents OTKs similar to Sphere Kuriboh. Keep it in your hand to avoid damage from a direct attack, then later banish it from the graveyard to avoid damage from another direct attack.

Spellbook Support will be act as Draw Filter for allowing to draw out Core Cards easier or increase your hand sources for setup combo.

Send to the GY either 1 Spellcaster monster you control, or 1 other "Spellbook" card from your hand or face-up from your field, except "Spellbook of Knowledge", and if you do, draw 2 cards. You can only activate 1 "Spellbook of Knowledge" per turn.
Spellbook of Secrets
Spellbook of Secrets
Normal Spell
Visions of Ice [SR]

Normal Trap
Revolution Beginning [R]
Reveal 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" in your hand. Destroy all face-down Spell and Trap Cards your opponent controls.

Destroy all of your opponent's Set Spell/Trap before you normal summon to have a more safer and uninterrupted play.

Extra Decks

Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon
Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon
LIGHT Dragon ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Heart of Xyz [UR]
3 Level 8 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Galaxy-Eyes" Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material, except "Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon". (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) Once per turn: You can target up to 2 Equip Cards equipped to this card; attach them to this card as Xyz Materials. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; destroy it.

Can be Xyz Summon using Cipher Dragon. Good for Face-up Card Destruction which is good for Monster Removal and Face-Up Backrow Removal for sometimes.

Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon
Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon
LIGHT Dragon ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Phantom of Rebellion [UR]
2 Level 8 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; monsters you control cannot attack your opponent directly for the rest of this turn, except this card, also take control of the targeted monster until the End Phase, but while this effect is applied, it has its effects negated, its ATK becomes 3000, also its name becomes "Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon".

A potential OTK card if your opponent controls 1 or 2 monsters. This almost works like Number 70: Malevolent Sin since it lets you direct attack if your opponent only controls 1 monster.

Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon
Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon
LIGHT Dragon ★9
ATK 3200 / DEF 2800
Heart of Xyz [SR]
3 Level 9 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a Rank 8 "Galaxy-Eyes" Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) Cannot be used as an Xyz Material for an Xyz Summon. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it. If this Xyz Summoned card is destroyed by your opponent's attack or card effect and sent to your Graveyard: You can target 1 "Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon" in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.

Can be Xyz Summon using Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon. Unlike Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon with Face-Up Card Removal limitation, Cipher Blade can remove any 1 card on the field which is good for getting rid of some backrow that will disrupt your combo or Big Boss monsters with bigger ATK stats than any of your monsters.

Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon
Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon
DARK Dragon ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Phantom of Rebellion [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters
You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes half its current ATK, and if it does, this card gains that lost ATK.

General Rank 4 Xyz Monster for players to use so far. Its effect essentially lets you deal 2500 (its own ATK) damage if this attacks the monster you targeted. The advantage is that your opponent's monster's ATK is also lowered, allowing you to attack over it with your other weaker monsters.

Number C39: Utopia Ray
Number C39: Utopia Ray
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [UR]
3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 39: Utopia" you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; it gains 500 ATK and 1 monster your opponent controls loses 1000 ATK, until the End Phase. You must have 1000 Life Points or less to activate and to resolve this effect.

Gives the deck an OTK option if your opponent has at least a 3000 ATK or lower monster, and you are low LP.

You can make this with the Star Seraphs or ranking up from Utopia.

Number 39: Utopia
Number 39: Utopia
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Shining Hope [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters
When any player's monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the attack. When this card is targeted for an attack, while it has no Xyz Materials: Destroy this card.

Mainly to be used to rank up into Utopia Ray when you're at 1000 LP or lower.

Number 55: Gogogo Goliath
Number 55: Gogogo Goliath
EARTH Rock ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
Shining Sunrise [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
All monsters you control gain 800 DEF. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Level 4 EARTH Rock-Type monster in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Number 55: Gogogo Goliath" once per turn.

Make this early so you can search for a Koa'ki Meiru Sandman or Wall for Beater or next turn setup.

Number 70: Malevolent Sin
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
DARK Insect ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3.

Useful when going against opponents that only have 1 strong boss monster on the field, especially if it's an Xyz monster since banishing them will also remove the materials.

Steelswarm Roach
Steelswarm Roach
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 0
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
During either player's turn, when a Level 5 or higher monster would be Special Summoned: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the Special Summon, and if you do, destroy it.

Roach is great for monster suppresion, much like a Trap Hole card. When your opponent summons a boss monster, use Roach's effect to immediately destroy it. This is an especially good counter against Synchro Decks. But most of the time, just Roach's presence on the field is enough to deter the opponent from making big monsters.

Diamond Dire Wolf
Diamond Dire Wolf
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 1200
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them.

Diamond Dire Wolf gets rid of itself along with any enemy card. Use this as on demand removal against a problematic card, or secure your attacks by getting rid of enemy backrow.

Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus
Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus
LIGHT Machine ★12
ATK 3600 / DEF 3200
Shining Sunrise [R]
3 Level 12 monsters
If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 3 "Super Quantal Mech Beast" Xyz Monsters with different names from your Graveyard. This card gains these effects, based on the number of Xyz Materials with different names attached to it.

● 2 or more: Once per turn, during either player's Main Phase: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; shuffle 1 card on the field into the Deck.
● 4 or more: It is unaffected by card effects, except "Super Quant" cards.
● 6 or more: Your opponent cannot add cards from the Deck to the hand by card effects.

Great Magnus will becomes powerful controller and great disruption effect on board with max. 3 materials which can be Xyz Summoned easily by using Dreadnoid's effect.

Number 27: Dreadnought Dreadnoid
Number 27: Dreadnought Dreadnoid
WATER Machine ★4
ATK 2200 / DEF 1000
Maximum Gustav [R]
2+ Level 4 monsters
At the end of the Battle Phase, if this card destroyed an opponent's monster by battle: You can Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 Rank 10 or higher Machine Xyz Monster by using this face-up card you control as material. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon. Transfer its materials to the Summoned monster.) You can only use this effect of "Number 27: Dreadnought Dreadnoid" once per turn. If this face-up card on the field would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can detach 1 material from this card instead.

Decent ATK and defensive effect to help survive. Bring this out if your opponent only has 1 monster on the field that you know you can get over. Destroying a monster by battle will let you Xyz summon a rank 10, which can be used to bring out Great Magnus with 3 materials.

Other Cards Option

Star Seraph Engine

Star Seraphs works as fillers in the deck. They help with some draw power because of their effects and are used to help make some rank 4s that uses 4 materials.

Scepter searches for Sovereignty from the deck, but if you already have Sovereignty in your hand, you'll be able to special summon the one in hand and the newly searched Sovereignty. This will already give you a +2 draw and 3 monsters on the field.

Once all Star Seraphs are on your field, you can make a Delteros or Ouroboros to activate Scepter's effect to destroy and draw a card before even using the Xyz monster's effect.

Star Seraph Scepter
Star Seraph Scepter
LIGHT Fairy ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF 400
Infinite Ray [UR]
When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Star Seraph" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Star Seraph Scepter". An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using 3 or more monsters, including this card on the field, as Xyz Materials gains this effect.
● When it is Xyz Summoned: You can target 1 other card on the field; destroy it, and if you do, you can draw 1 card.
Star Seraph Sovereignty
Star Seraph Sovereignty
LIGHT Fairy ★4
ATK 800 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [SR]
Cannot be used as an Xyz Material for an Xyz Summon, except for an Xyz Summon that uses 3 or more monsters as Xyz Materials. If you Normal or Special Summon a "Star Seraph" monster(s), except during the Damage Step: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, draw 1 card, then you can Special Summon it if it is a "Star Seraph" monster.

Light and Dark Monster Effect Negation

Koaki Meiru Powerhand
Koaki Meiru Powerhand
EARTH Machine
ATK 2100 / DEF 1600
Gaia Genesis [R]
During each of your End Phases, destroy this card unless you send 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your hand to the Graveyard or reveal 1 Normal Trap Card from your hand. If this card battles with a LIGHT or DARK monster, any of that monster's effects that activate or apply on the field are negated during the Battle Phase, while this card remains on the field.

Effect is very niche, and only works when it battles makes it even more situational. It's better to rely on monster removals like Maximus or the extra deck monsters.

OTK

Koaki Meiru Bergzak
Koaki Meiru Bergzak
EARTH Warrior ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF
Infernity Destruction [R]
During each of your End Phases, destroy this card unless you send 1 "Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru" from your hand to the Graveyard or reveal 1 Warrior-Type monster in your hand. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, it can attack once again in a row.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37DF8eoBQBU I actually got to 10k DP in KC Cup with this Koa'Ki meiru deck, still i don't think its really a good deck but its pretty fun.

This deck been so good winning me duels in KC cup as Hey Trunade deals with backrow or Sandman in a pinch and Maximus punches monsters like Wiz and Amazoness Queen in the face.

I really want Drago, it'd be a great card for the current meta

To be honest best koaki in this set is sandman with its negate effect and 1900 attack

The reason I feel sandman is the best card in the koaki stuff right now is simply for his effect he is an awesome tech with awesome attack.
If I were to use him I’d run at one and summon on a turn I know I should be able to otk and make use of his effect for annoying traps

Sandman would be even better once we have Guardian and Wall as well.

With enough luck the Last Gamble OTK variant of this deck is... actually fairly decent. With bad luck however... yeah you're screwed. Neat deck though, and, the fact that you're fairly likely to get all the pieces of it while UR chasing for this box makes it fairly easy to build as well.
Mr. Melon
Has anyone come up with a Grass variant for the deck? Iron Core being recoverable from the Grave and Urgent Synthesis enabling plays out of the Grave (and restocking the deck) seems like it could open up some possibilities. Not to mention the in-archetype Mirror Force.

Mega rock dragon and gaia plate maybe could help? Dunno though seems very weak just like the rest of the box tbh
