Target 1 face-up monster on the field; equip this card to that target. It gains 500 ATK. If the equipped monster attacks or is attacked while in Defense Position, it gains DEF equal to its ATK during damage calculation only.
I personally use this with amazoness swords woman and gravity lash. alot of cards have high defense as well so I use gravity lash to weaken them so they take the most possible damage from spikeshield. Also it's quite fun equipping spikeshield to one of their monsters econ into defense position and attacking into their outrageously large defense with swords woman. Usually they will only be able to answer with wall of d only making them take more damage due to swords woman's effect. Unfortunately I can't come up with the rest of a decklist to improve consistency however when it goes off it is magical lol
Shi En just negates all the cancerous bs you all thought of.
This is a great card to splash into any deck. It's very versatile being able to activate during the damage step allowing you to net a healthy chunk of life points from the unwary. But it can also be used to bait out your opponents destruction effects while still netting value with cards like black steggo and amazoness swords woman. Combine with the fact that even the most mediocer monsters become walls with this card. Makes this a great card for antimeta decks.
I don't know why they still haven't address this card. You just need 3 cards in your hand (DNA Surgery, this card, and Cipher Soldier), and you can OTK on the second/third turn of the duel, on your opponent's turn.
What? I never witnessed my monsters being surprised by this card. Instead of distorting facts why not say you are just impulsive and a bit stupeed in predicting your opponent's cards? Almost everyone who plays in a competitive environment either
1. "checks" the backrows first before they attack
2. destroy or banish control the opponent's backrows
3. predict based on cards, pauses, skills, etc
Monster removal's even less common than backrow removal, however.
Spikeshield is broken, It shouldn't be allowed to activate it on a face-down monster going face-up when attacked. And if it is, then i want to use my ennemy controller when attacking that same monster face-down, so i can change its position to attack position. See the point? now change it. Both have the same requirement but Spikeshield outruled this basic process.
Any effect that modifies ATK or DEF can be used in the Damage Step, which starts only after the Def Mode monster is flipped face-up. Since Enemy Controller does not modify ATK/DEF, it cannot be activated in the Damage Step. Spikeshield can tho
This card + DNA is the new ultimate troll combo lol
I have no idea how this card works. if it gives 500 atk and if it’s attackes gains defense equal to its attack meaning if you use 3 it’s only a 1500 boost so how did I take 6300 LP damage from a monster that only clears by 900
I use this card all the time(cons yes it's cloggy)backrow can remove the card but I believe the effect once activated is Perma and it's better than MetalMorph. It's both defensive and offensive and my cards I always use are Exarion,Two Thousand Needles(Quils)Mid/Big-Gardna etc etc. loving this hyper competitive card. It should be limited to 2 but it's surely looked over by komoney..
I guess it has some downsides... especially the backrow clogging. But it's a card that wins games on the very first turn. That's insane, the Cipher burn decks are out of hand.
This + Suijin/Sanga/Kazejin + lamb tokens = OTK in one turn. Once your opponent attacks, activate the shield to boost your def to 5000± then use the monsters' effects to dump your opponent's Atk to 0. 5000+ damage in one turn.
The only real downside is effects like in Sylvan decks and Sea Stealth Attack, and the other destruction/nullification effects. Also hard to use against defense/effect damage decks IME. It has about a 50% success rate in the Platinum ranks. Maybe a little tweaking could improve that.
It'll steamroll over any Amazoness deck. They'll be dropped before any of their card effects have a chance to do anything. Same with the Gladiator decks, Hero decks, and Archangel decks (though these can be tricky due to Daniki's effect...you have to kind of anticipate when they'll pull her out and plan accordingly if you can't activate an Ultimate Providence or similar card).
Thanks for the tip Gunsblazing I think we've all seen the video.
Sorry to keep blowing this up but I have an update. Lava golem to their field equip spikeshield to lava golem. swing with swords woman gravity lash at damage step. And I also want to get my hands on a reverse trap. Because gravity lash subtracts their for if you want to boost your attack to ridiculous level on your opponents turn or yours. Don't know about 1 or 2 yet.
