Marik Ishtar

Overview

Marik Ishtar is a character that's suspected to be coming soon. There are several files found in the game showing a character selection icon, and a player profile icon. Similar to Yugi Muto, he has an alter ego called Yami Marik. His Yami version is more likely to be an unlockable character to avoid having 2 of the same character. Marik Ishtar might make an appearance through a mini event just like the Yugi Muto event.

Cards

Based on the anime, Marik Ishtar takes control of other people and use their decks to duel and does not duel himself, unless he is in his Yami Marik form. If he were to appear, he could be bringing other gravekeeper monsters like Gravekeeper's Descendant, similar to Ishizu and Odion's duel rewards.

I hope that if they actually release regular Marik (honestly, I couldn't care less either way) they give him something that sets him apart from Ishizu, Odion and Yami Marik. I don't know HOW, but if he just gets a couple of leftover Gravekeepers and Fiends, he'll feel like even more of a wasted character.

Honestly, a different character. I can't think of how they'd make his inclusion worthwhile from a card standpoint. There isn't an obvious archetype like Ishizu's Gravekeepers or Bastion's Chemicritters to pad out his cards, either, and most of his cards are already Yami Marik drops/level rewards or in packs. Can't really have a cardpool based around just Metal Reflect Slime and Granadora...

On the Leaked Information page, they show Marik (not Jaden anymore) having all of these skills for the Winged Dragon of Ra. I don't know if I'm interested in using that, though. Ultimately, I don't care what he has as long as he comes to the game, but I can understand how he doesn't look too exciting as a duelist. Zane looks more fun with his Cyber Dragon stuff.

I hope Marik unlock event is a February event. It only showed Super Chazz and KC Cup. I suspect in the near future, Marik, Roba, and Grandpa will all be unlockable.

The quote would make sense if it is looked at as Marik being ready to take on the challenge of living a regular life in the world outside, finally free from his desire for revenge and tragic past. I'm not getting my hopes up for May, but it would make sense for him to be unlockable in the duelathon since it is right after the Yami Marik event with him showing up at the end of it.

Mirror force might be a little too OP for the app version of this game lol. It’s already fairly balanced so would hate to see cards like raigeki and dark hole etc. start making appearances

Most of the "expected cards" are unlikely. I'd say Metal Reflect Slime (which I'm expecting to be his signature card given a lack of anything else obvious), Dark Illusion and maybe Newdoria and/or Acid Trap Hole (likely as level rewards and not drops) are likely from this list.

There is a new character list from Xof that I found on Reddit, and Marik was on it.

They should make one big Egyptian god event that unlocks Marik, all 3 god card, Ra’s sphere form and Phoenix form, obselik and if you already have a god card instead of unlocking it you can get an exclusive skill for it’s anime user or marik

I don't know what is going on with the Ra leaks now, but it makes me wonder: Will Marik's deck have Ra as his ace monster with all of those new skills? Or will he be gravekeeper-themed? The waiting is annoying, but I kind of like how all of this with the Superb Duelist and the skills has given us something of a mystery here. Marik Ishtar is Duel Links' man of mystery right now. Lol.

(continued) Although I feel like the fact that the announcement says the word "certain" is a clue here. I will have to check past announcements, but I think they say that when referring to someone who is already here (maybe already seen in Marik's case), so I don't know if the superb duelist roaming thing is Marik. The way I see it, he might only be unlockable via BC, etc. with no prior roaming.

If it is Ra, I just hope it wasn't just something that they decided to change him to because they were afraid of having necrovalley and more gravekeeper stuff in the game and that is why it has taken so long, because that would really be ridiculous, imo. But yeah, Marik's waiting game is more suspenseful!

That would be nice, but since there hasn't been any datamining to suggest it, Ryou doesn't look possible right now. Konami tends to favor the Yami versions of characters, even in a way with Zane.

Rex and Weevil certainly act like third graders. XD I'm guessing that Marik would be unlockable after part 2 of Battle City because it will be like the player has saved Marik. XD But poor Ryou doesn't even have images... I wish he would have a Monster World event.

Level 4: LP boost alpha
Level 12: Draw-sense: Divine
Level 20: God summoner (begin with 2000 LP and 1 Ra's Disciples will added in your starting hand)
