Set Skill

[Skill] descriptionUser
Master of Rites: Super Soldier
Can be used on turn 2 and onward. Send 1 Ritual Monster from your hand to the Graveyard and add 1 "Super Soldier Synthesis" from your Deck to your hand. During this turn, you can only Special Summon "Black Luster Soldier" monsters, and during this Main Phase, you can only activate one monster effect.

If you send "Black Luster Soldier" to the Graveyard, you can also place 1 face-down "Super Soldier Rebirth" from your outside of your Deck to your field.

This Skill can be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck (excluding Extra Deck) that contains a total of at least 6 cards that are include "Black Luster Soldier" in their card text. These 6 cards must also include 4 different types of card. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

How To Play

Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier

Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier
Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier
EARTH Warrior ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Chaotic Soldiers [UR]
You can Ritual Summon this card with "Super Soldier Ritual". If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK in the Graveyard. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, or if this card in your possession is destroyed by an opponent's card effect and sent to your Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. You can only Special Summon "Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier(s)" once per turn.

While it may seem unimpressive since it requires a lot of cards to just bring this out, BLS monsters have some ritual supports that will give them some additional effects.

Use the skill to reliably search for either BLS or Super Soldier Synthesis. Gateway to Chaos can search for both BLS and the ritual spell as well, but if you want to make a play right away, you can use Cosmic Cyclone on the field spell after the search so you can use the skill.

Ritual summon BLS with Super Soldier Synthesis using a combination of Beginning and Evening Twilight Knights from your hand and deck. This will give your BLS a total of 4 effects:

  • Can banish a monster your opponent controls twice. Activated separately.
  • Able to attack twice if the first attack destroys a monster.
  • Can banish 1 card from your opponent's hand temporarily.

Selection Box Vol.05 [UR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can activate 1 of these effects.

● Target 1 monster on the field; banish that target face-up. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect.
● If this attacking card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, after damage calculation: It can make a second attack in a row.

Easily special summonable in this deck since there are LIGHT and DARK monsters. Its effect is pretty decent for either monster removal or as an OTK option.

Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight

Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight
Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight
DARK Warrior ★7
ATK 2300 / DEF 2100
Master of Chaos [SR]
If your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. If this card is Tributed: You can Special Summon 1 "Black Luster Soldier" monster from your hand or Graveyard. You can only use this effect of "Arisen Gaia the Fierce Knight" once per turn. When you Ritual Summon a "Black Luster Soldier" monster, you can banish this card from your Graveyard as 1 of the monsters required for the Ritual Summon.

Arisen Gaia's first effect will allows you to special summon "Black Luster Soldier" from your Graveyard when this card is Tributed. Keep in mind that those "Black Luster Soldier" monsters in this Deck cannot be special summoned from your hand by this effect and they must be first be summoned according proper condition.

Similar to Charging Gaia, Arisen Gaia can also be used to help ritual summon Super Soldier since it's a level 7 plus Sphere Kuriboh for the level 1.

You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. If this card is Normal Summoned without Tributing, its original ATK becomes 1900. If this card is Tributed: You can add 1 "Black Luster Soldier" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Charging Gaia the Fierce Knight" once per turn.

This is mainly so that BLS - Super Soldier can float into something when destroyed, but it can also be used to help ritual summon Super Soldier since it's a level 7 plus Sphere Kuriboh for the level 1.

It can also be searched with Gateway to Chaos when it's activated the first time, and can be normal summoned right away if you have no other monsters to make a play. It's fine if it gets destroyed since Super Soldier can special summon Gaia from hand, deck, or grave.

You can discard this card to add up to 2 "Thunder Dragons" from your Deck to your hand.

DARK Warrior ★4
ATK 1500 / DEF 0
Fortress of Gears [SR]
During either player's Battle Phase: You can discard this card, then target 1 "Black Luster Soldier" monster or "Gaia The Fierce Knight" monster you control; it gains 1500 ATK until the end of this turn, and if it does, every opponent's monster that battles it this turn has its ATK become that monster's original ATK during damage calculation only. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card is in the Graveyard: You can banish 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard, except this card; add this card to your hand.

Mainly used to Boost Up "Black Luster Soldier" monsters' ATK to 4500 ATK and return all the opponent's monsters that battles this turn back to the original stats during damage calculation.

When an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; change the attacking monster to Defense Position. When you Ritual Summon a monster, you can banish this card from your Graveyard as 1 of the monsters required for the Ritual Summon.

Aside from its function as the defense/anti-OTK tech of this Deck, Sphere Kuriboh can also be used to help ritual summon Super Soldier using Super Soldier Synthesis because of its level, effect, and attribute.

Beginning Knight & Evening Twilight Knight

If you use both Beginning and Evening Twilight Knight to Ritual Summon Black Luster Soldier, you'll be able to banish up to two enemy monsters per turn since they are treated as two different effects.

Aside from the blatantly powerful removal effect, they also offer second effects that you can use if you don't activate the respective removal effect. Beginning Knight gives you a second attack, good for pushing damage and clearing monsters. Evening Twilight Knight lets you temporarily banish a card from the oppponent's hand, which can be particularly annoying if you're lucky enough to banish a card necessary to their main combo.

Can be used during either players' turn makes this card more useful to prevent OTK from your opponent by reducing their ATK regarding to their own Level/Rank. After that, you can Special Summon "BLS - Envoy of the Beginning" by banishing this card and 1 Dark-Attribute Monster from your Graveyard.

Super Soldier Ritual

This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels exactly equal 8. You can only use this effect of "Super Soldier Ritual" once per turn.

A Ritual Spell for Ritual Summoning "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster other than "Super Soldier Synthesis".

You can Special Summon 1 "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster from your hand by banishing 1 LIGHT and DARK monster from your hand along with this card in the Graveyard except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard.

Card Trader [R]
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Bluck Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster from your hand or Graveyard. You must also send 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster (1 from your hand and 1 from your Deck) to the Graveyard, whose total Levels exactly equal 8. You can only activate 1 "Super Soldier Synthesis" per turn.

Use Super Soldier Synthesis to Ritual Summon Black Luster Soldier from your hand or Graveyard by sending 1 Beginning Knight and 1 Evening Twilight Knight (1 from your hand and 1 from your Deck) to the Graveyard. The fact that one of your materials comes from the Deck eases the usually high cost of Ritual Summoning.

Search Super Soldier Synthesis with Gateway to Chaos, or add it to your hand via the skill.

You can only activate 1 "Beginning of Heaven and Earth" per turn.

One of the Searcher for adding "Black Luster Soldier" or "Gaia the Fierce Knight' monster from your Deck.

Extra Decks

Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis
Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis
LIGHT Dragon ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Infinite Ray [UR]
2 Level 8 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Tribute any number of monsters from your hand and/or your side of the field (minimum 1), then destroy an equal number of cards on the field.

Make Heliopolis using a combination of "Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier" and "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" as materials. With sufficient cost, Heliopolis can destroy everything on your opponent's board resulting in an easy OTK.

Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation
Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation
DARK Dragon ★7
ATK 2800 / DEF 1000
Chaotic Soldiers [UR]
2+ Level 7 monsters
Once per turn, if you have exactly 5 DARK monsters in your GY, you can also Xyz Summon "Dark Armed, the Dragon of Annihilation" by using 1 Level 5 or higher DARK Dragon monster you control as material. You can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it, then banish 1 card from your GY, also, this card cannot attack for the rest of this turn.

Has a card removal effect that you can use multiple times in a turn, up to however many materials you use to make it. Needing to banish a card in your grave won't be a big issue since you can use it on the used spells/traps like Beginning of Heaven and Earth.

Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon
Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon
DARK Dragon ★7
ATK 2800 / DEF 2400
Maximum Gustav [SR]
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [SR]
2 Level 7 monsters
Cannot be destroyed by card effects while it has Xyz Material. While this card has Xyz Material, each time your opponent activates a card or effect, inflict 500 damage to your opponent immediately after it resolves. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 "Red-Eyes" Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.

This deck doesn't play Red-Eyes for this to really have an impact, but its burn effect can add up, or if you just need the extra damage. Its good for when you don't really want to attack into your opponent if they play stall or cancerous decks.

Number 70: Malevolent Sin
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
DARK Insect ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3.

Malevolent Sin is an anti-Xyz tech. Summon Malevolent Sin and use its effect to temporarily banish an enemy Xyz monster. The Xyz monster will return with no materials attached to it.

Steelswarm Roach
Steelswarm Roach
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 0
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
During either player's turn, when a Level 5 or higher monster would be Special Summoned: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the Special Summon, and if you do, destroy it.

Roach is great for monster suppresion, much like a Trap Hole card. When your opponent summons a boss monster, use Roach's effect to immediately destroy it. This is an especially good counter against Synchro Decks. But most of the time, just Roach's presence on the field is enough to deter the opponent from making big monsters.

Diamond Dire Wolf
Diamond Dire Wolf
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 1200
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them.

Dire Wolf is a good generic removal option. Its purpose is to destroy itself along with an enemy card.

Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison
Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison
DARK Rock ★8
ATK 2100 / DEF 2700
Infinite Ray [R]
Fantastic Arc [R]
2 Level 8 monsters
Gains 100 ATK and DEF for each monster in the GYs. Once per turn: You can detach 1 material from this card; until the end of your opponent's next turn, this card cannot be destroyed by card effects, also neither player can Special Summon monsters from the GYs.

Sanaphond is another powerful Rank-8 you can make. The Deck does a lot of discarding, so late game Sanaphond should easily reach 3000+ ATK. The detach effect is also very powerful, doubling as both protection and graveyard control. Be careful because this also prevents you from reviving "Black Luster Soldier" monster.

Other Cards Option

Other Extra Decks

Number C39: Utopia Ray
Number C39: Utopia Ray
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [UR]
3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 39: Utopia" you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; it gains 500 ATK and 1 monster your opponent controls loses 1000 ATK, until the End Phase. You must have 1000 Life Points or less to activate and to resolve this effect.

I manage to make this deck super consistent with 2 neos fusion, but there's a catch, its suck when it comes to deal with backrow. I guess lightsworn ver is the best after all.
<< Anonymous(Hunter)

And the question is: In case you use the lightsowrn engine, why don't use ALL the other better builds instead of the bricky BLS? Even a pure lightsworn is way better.
<< Anonymous(Hunter)

ALL BLS builds suffer from the same problem. Backrow. BLS has 0 protection and almost 0 support protection (shield maybe??). And even if you want to run lightsworn engine you will have to wonder: WHY? You can simple remover BLS cards for something way better and more consistent.

Does this deck suck, or does every I play that uses it is trash? Because they seem to always brick.

My overall views on this deck
Battle: A
(Due to the support that could double banish and banish from hand.)
Complexity: C
( It is really easy to use and you could get 1tk.)
Defense: D+ to C-
(has some defense with super soldier shield, but it wont trigger if interrupted upon summon.)
Price: Expesive
Support:B
(but needs more def support)
Overall i would say that BLS is a Rogue deck for now.

Competitiveness: C
Has difficulty against highly competitive decks like Elementsaber invokers, Shiranui, Cyber Dragons, and Six Sam.

(This deck can beat a DM deck if you have the right cards to deal with navigation/ Circle i have done it before.)

I played with it for about a month after spending about 7000gems just to get those 3 BLS. This deck relies 90% in luck and going second. If you go 1st you either have to summon a Sonic Bird set a CC or a bluff and cross your finger to survive. Next turn cross your finger once again hopping that your opponnent has no traps/hand traps and go for the big hit, which rarely happens.

It's fun but it sucks, it can't handle back row and if BLS does it pretty much gameover
Anonymous
I've seen this deck play in KC CUP twice, got beaten cuz they summoned their BLS first turn. Maybe there is a secret build.
<< Anonymous

The only problem is it has Super soldier shield and that protects it after a successful summon and successfully activates the banishing effect. If you interrupt the summon after it is summoned with floodgate, Dark magical circle, and canadia. If bls returns to hand, is destroyed, banished, or flipped face down BLS loses the effects.

I crated a deck with BLS and hex sealed fusion to quicly summon Dragon Master Knight, and then blue eyes too buff. Any recommendations to make it less janky and more relayable

Just play normal blue eyes instead and add tech poly and hex sealed. At least add some maidens.

It's too much work to summon Dragon master knight. Even if you do summon it, it doesn't have much protection from getting destroyed/banished.

After you properly ritual summon BLS, if he is returned to the hand, is he still considered as having been properly ritual summoned a first time?
Or does a ritual monster retain its PROPERLY SUMMONED status only if it is banished or sent to the graveyard?
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Return to hand doesn't get PROPERLY SUMMONED. Only those sent to graveyard and banish face up.

heavy starter version?. only 3 high level monsters with different names. either gaia monsters or chaos monsters can be the other two with super soldier synth.

This + power of the guardians.

Looks like they are going to give some support to this archetype and you won't require synthesis in order to summon it

Synthesis is still by far the best Ritual Spell for the Deck anyway. The only advantage to Super Soldier Ritual is triggering Awakened/Charging Gaia. And I guess not being limited to one activation per turn.
