Wait, you don’t have Cosmic Cyclone? How about Treacherous Trap Hole? No? Well, it looks you don’t get to play today. Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman, and DNA Surgery are still an incredible combination of cards that, similarly to Yubel - Terror Incarnate and Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys, can almost completely lock your opponent out of the game. So what’s new? Well, in this version of the deck we get to play two copies of Pot of Greed just to make sure we can assemble our main combo.
Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman
LIGHT Dragon ★1
ATK 400 / DEF 300
Power of Bravery [UR]
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 "Destruction Sword" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman". You can only use 1 of the following effects of "Buster Whelp of the Destruction Swordsman" per turn, and only once that turn.● You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Buster Blader" from your hand or Graveyard.● If this card is in your Graveyard and you control "Buster Blader": You can discard 1 "Destruction Sword" card; Special Summon this card.
Destruction Swordsman Fusion
Power of Bravery [SR]
Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster that lists "Buster Blader" as Material from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or either side of the field as Fusion Materials. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard; add this card to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Destruction Swordsman Fusion" once per turn.
Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman
LIGHT Warrior ★8
ATK 2800 / DEF
Generation Next [UR]
1 "Buster Blader" + 1 Dragon-Type monsterMust be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card cannot attack directly. This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each Dragon-Type monster your opponent controls or is in their Graveyard. Change all Dragon-Type monsters your opponent controls to Defense Position, also Dragon-Type monsters in your opponent's possession cannot activate their effects. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.
DARK Spellcaster ★8
ATK 2900 / DEF 2400
Crimson Kingdom [UR]
"Dark Magician" + "Buster Blader"Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. During either player's turn, when a Spell Card is activated: You can discard 1 card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. This card must be face-up on the field to activate and to resolve this effect. This card gains 500 ATK for each Dragon-Type monster on the field or in either player's Graveyard.
Buster Whelp is a Level 1 Tuner that, when Normal Summoned, allows you to add 1 “Destruction Sword” card from your Deck to the hand. Buster Whelp is used primarily to search Destruction Swordsman Fusion, but you could technically use it to add Buster Blader, the Destruction Master from your Deck to your hand since, unlike the original Buster Blader, it’s part of the archetype.
You can Tribute Buster Whelp to Special Summon 1 “Buster Blader” from your hand or Graveyard. This effect can be used to Special Summon Buster Blader, the Destruction Master from the Graveyard since its name is “Buster Blader” while he’s on the field or Graveyard, but not from the hand.
If you control a Buster Blader, you can Special Summon Buster Whelp from the Graveyard by discarding 1 “Destruction Sword” card.
Special Summoning Buster Whelp will not trigger its effect, but it will give you access to Stardust Dragon and Scrap Dragon. Keep in mind that you can only use one of these last two effects of Buster Whelp per turn and only once during that turn, which means that you can’t Special Summon a Buster Blader or Buster Blader, the Destruction Master by Tributing Buster Whelp and then Special Summon the Level 1 Tuner from the Graveyard via its own effect.
Destruction Swordsman Fusion is essentially a Quick-Play version of Polymerization that can only Special Summon Fusion Monsters that specifically list “Buster Blader” as Fusion Material, meaning Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman and Dark Paladin, but, unlike Polymerization, it allows you to use monsters from your hand or either side of the field.
Destruction Swordsman Fusion can be searched via Buster Whelp and, if you combine it with DNA Surgery, it can be used to Special Summon Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman while also getting rid of a monster on your opponent's side of the field.
Destruction Swordsman Fusion doesn’t target or destroy, which means that Neos Fusion or any other card or effect that would normally protect your opponent’s monsters—is completely useless against it. Even if your opponent negates the activation of Destruction Swordsman Fusion, you can add it back to your hand by simply discarding a card.
Master of Destiny literally turns Cup of Ace into Pot of Greed. You do have to run at least four more cards with “coin tossing” effects, but the increase in consistency is definitely notable. Use Cup of Ace to draw through your Deck, assemble your main combo and lock your opponent.
Fiend Comedian is a pretty interesting Trap Card that can give you the upper hand in quite a few matchups. If Master of Destiny is still in effect, you can always remove from play all cards in your opponent’s Graveyard, which is particularly relevant against Darklords, Six Samurais, Neos Fusion and Invoked Neos.
Even if you fail or you just decide to call the coin toss wrong, you can end up milling Destruction Swordsman Fusion, which can be added to your hand from the Graveyard by discarding a card.
Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman and DNA Surgery are a very powerful combination of cards that can essentially shut down a good portion of the current top-tier decks; Buster Blader locks all Dragon-Type monsters on the opponent’s side of the field into Defense Position and prevents them from activating their effects and this Continuous Trap can turn all monsters on the field into Dragon-Type monsters.
Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each Dragon-Type monster the opponent controls or is in their Graveyard, it can’t attack directly, but its effect does give it piercing damage.
Dark Paladin allows you to negate the activation of Spell Cards by discarding a card; this effect is not limited to a “once per turn” use like Wiz, Sage Fur Hire or Silent Magician. You can Special Summon Dark Paladin using either Polymerization or Destruction Swordsman Fusion and King of the Swamp and Buster Blader as Fusion Materials.
You can play more “Arcana Force” monsters (since all of them fit the requirement for Master of Destiny), take out Twin Barrel Dragon, Time Wizard, and Fiend Comedian, and add Cards from the Sky to further increase your chances of getting to DNA Surgery.
