Can stop enemy plays and be summoned to your field as a monster since the deck also uses Sword of Memories often. Flipping them face-down is still pretty good for the Buster Blader fusion even if you don't have Buster Dragon on the field since you can deal piercing damage.
Floodgate Trap Hole | Normal Trap |
Generation Next [UR] | |
When your opponent Summons a monster(s): Change that monster(s) to face-down Defense Position. Monsters changed to face-down Defense Position by this effect cannot change their battle positions. |
A decent Combo Disruption. Although Floodgate Trap Hole is less versatile than Paleozoic Canadia sometimes since it cannot be activated during Battle Phase, but it can locks the opponent’s monster it from flipping face-down itself on the next turn.
Drowning Mirror Force | Normal Trap |
Gaia Genesis [UR] Selection Box Vol. 02 [UR] Special Set Bundle Sale [UR]
When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: Shuffle all Attack Position monsters your opponent controls into the Deck. |
When an opponent’s monster is declaring a direct attack, Drowning Mirror Force can shuffle all Attack Position on their side of the field into the deck which will disrupt your opponent and stop OTK for next turn play.
Dark Paladin | DARK Spellcaster ★8 ATK 2900 / DEF 2400 |
Crimson Kingdom [UR] | |
"Dark Magician" + "Buster Blader" Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. During either player's turn, when a Spell Card is activated: You can discard 1 card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. This card must be face-up on the field to activate and to resolve this effect. This card gains 500 ATK for each Dragon-Type monster on the field or in either player's Graveyard. |
A good monster to summon incase you get matched with a Dark Magician Deck. Not only do you get to take the opponent's Dark Magician as fusion material, Dark Paladin is also a great counter to the deck preventing them from using key Spells.
Stardust Dragon | WIND Dragon ★8 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Selection Box Vol. 03 [UR] Stardust Acceleration [UR] Stardust Nexus [UR] (Alternate Art)
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that would destroy a card(s) on the field: You can Tribute this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. During the End Phase, if this effect was activated this turn (and was not negated): You can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. |
Stardust Dragon can negate enemy effects that would destroy a card, targeting or not. This makes it an effective counter against the most common form of removal. This effect is practically activated for free, only temporarily tributing Stardust Dragon.
Stardust Spark Dragon | LIGHT Dragon ★8 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Future Horizon [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 face-up card you control; once during this turn, it cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects. |
Gives a one-time protection to any card you control. Particularly, you want to protect DNA surgery or Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroying Swordsman because this powerful combo has no inherent protection. Keep in mind this effect can be used during both players' turns.
Ally of Justice Catastor | DARK Machine ★5 ATK 2200 / DEF 1200 |
The King of Vermillion [SR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters At the start of the Damage Step, if this card battles a non-DARK monster: Destroy that monster. |
In case you have Boxer Veil on the field and can normal summon a Whelp. Catastor can be a decent wall to prevent attacks since its effect can deal with most monsters.
Noted By Kortezzy:
With all of the weird red eys decks, I played this to counter them. For some reason, I literally only face dragon decks. From legend 2 to KOG I face back to back BEWD and redeyes deck. To win I originally played more back row hate such as MST. After that, I faced many easy decks.
