"Dark Magician" + "Buster Blader"
Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. During either player's turn, when a Spell Card is activated: You can discard 1 card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. This card must be face-up on the field to activate and to resolve this effect. This card gains 500 ATK for each Dragon-Type monster on the field or in either player's Graveyard.

Pros

  • High attack and good defense.
  • Magic Jammer + a better Buster Blader effect in 1 monster.

Cons

  • Both the fusion material monsters are level 7 monsters.

Tips, related cards, skills

Trap Jammer

With its ability to stop/prevent spell cards altogether, you can pressure your opponent even further by using Trap Jammer. This will help protect, not just Dark Paladin, but your other monsters from cards like Mirror Wall or other traps.

Fusion substitutes

Dark Magician and Buster Blader uses different supports, and since it doesn't say that it needs those exact monsters as the fusion materials, you can use fusion substitute monsters instead. This will allow both of them to shine individually in their own decks, or make a fusion oriented deck by putting both Dark Paladin and Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman.

Outstanding Dog Marron

You can use Outstanding Dog Marron or Sword of Deep-Seated so you can activate Dark Paladin's ability without losing a card.

Tour Bus From the Underworld

Allows you to bring back your monster from your graveyard to your deck. This can be good if you have other cards to search for them again.

Diffusion Wave-Motion

Allows Dark Paladin to attack multiple monsters in a turn and negate all their effect monster's effects.

Mirage Dragon

Increases Dark Paladin's attack and prevents your opponent from being able to activate traps during battle phase.

Is this card still considered good?
The reason I ask is that since then, there are now Silent Magician Lv8 and Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv8 who have similar effects of negating spell cards and being able to do so WITHOUT discarding a card for their effect. Both Horus and SM are easier to summon with Lv Up compared to DP.

Ok my bad (slightly). Silent Magician Lv8 only cancels spell effects used against it. Dark Paladin can cancel any activation of a spell card. However Horus does the same.

if konami releases sinister serpent, would it work if you discard it from your hand using dp? or would it be banished in your opponent next end phase?
i hope it does cause it means you won't lose your draw like when you use Sword of Deep-Seated, would help dp decks alot!

I dare say that this is the best monster card in the game currently, tied with relinquished. Ppl need to realize how game changing negating spell is. Almost every deck uses spell, bar dino beatdown.

Who the f*ck summon dark paladin turn one without protection?set up first, try to gain card advantage using crystal seer etc. Play it with last gamble also help creating your beloved card advantage. Im sick of seeing vanilla otc variants, yet konami help it by releasing red lotus lol. I want to try something new and fun to play. Like this badass dark paladin.

If someone CAN summon Dark Paladin first turn, it means they have 3 non-setup cards in their hand. The chance that the final card in their hand is Crystal Seer or something is then extremely small.

Uh ppl DO summon dark paladin turn 1. Why? To negate Black Illlusion Ritual, OtC and the currently meta TOON KINGDOM. If your opponent doesn't have anything, most likely they can only summon 1 monster, so they can only use 1 OtC or something

Not true at all if you have sphere kuriboh in the graveyard you can summon relinquished with just two cards in your hand

My experience against dragon beatdown decks using Dark Paladin & BB fusion is pretty solid. They barely last 3 turns after you summon the big Boi.

Either rage quit or got wrecked hard

or they steal your lonely dragon destroyer with e-con and then rage quit after 5 minutes trying to understand why it can't attack, oh boy hahaha "what's wrong, done already?"

Lol. This card is more like spell lockdown card than anti dragon. With mirage dragon, your opponent literally can't do anything

That's what Diffusion Wave Motion is for. It invests a fair bit to get the stun effect but it can be done.

Marron and Sword of the Deep Seated don't prevent you losing a card, they just go back to deck; your hand still decreases which is what actually matters.

Currently looking into making a Spell Counter deck which can summon this but actually uses Buster Blader and Dark Magician legitimately. There's a few things coming together so I don't know if it will work in Duel Links 20 card format(can go higher, sure, if you really want to) but if anyone has tried it let me know.

This is my Dark Paladin + Buster Blader Dragon Destruction deck, it's pretty decent against almost all decks, only problems are that it's kinda slow since you have to be careful when you attack with DP once you summon him, because once it's gone you don't have much chance of winning, having at least one card in your hand while DP is on the field is also very important. Major threaths against it are cards like hane-hane (but haven't faced them a lot), Metalmorph, if you don't have Econ it's game over and HHG. Other than that you can almost summon him first to third turn and it's pretty fun to play.

BTW I only managed to get to plat 2 with this deck, I mainly because I started to lose against HHG due to Relinquished and OtC, so many spell cards to keep up with only a few cards on your hand, plus all your traps get rekt easily.

This is my current deck, I opted to replace Ultimate Providence (since they were there mostly to stop hane-hane's effect but haven't faced it a lot to become a constant threath) with skull lair to put use to all the fusion materials and discarded cards due to DP's effect and combo it with EFTDD to special summon dark magician *just in case*

What do you think about put in this deck crystal seer? May be useful! you can set it on turn 0 if you start first, and give you a free card draw (it means that paladin can negate!)
I have made a deck to use with 3 star demonition skill, but I don't have that skill.. and I need another fusion sage too..
but I want to know what do you think about crystal seer!

Yeah, crystal seer works pretty well to easily get DP on the field, plus the "restart" skill when you have a bad starting hand. If you have a dark magician/buster blader + a fusion substitue or polymerization and Crystal Seer in your starting hand (wich is most of the time) you will have DP by your 3rd turn at most and like you said, you will also have a extra card to use DP´s effect

My attempt at a Dark Paladin focused deck. Once he's on the field, and you have 1 or more cards in hand to help eliminate spells, it can be game over.

Here's the current version after several mods. Running it with Yugi, and his PoD skill for the spellcaster atk boost. I feel the deck flows a bit better with 2 fusion options, 1 dragon, and the other the paladin. All dragon's just add to the paladin's attack. B-Dragon summoner allows you to search your deck for either a red eye's or a Dark mag for fusions. Killing lev 40 mokuba with this..
