Laval Synchro: deck recipe [Dec 18]

Duel Links Laval Synchro deck, Laval Synchro in the current meta, how to use.
update 18/12/2021

Overview

“Laval” is an archetype of FIRE monsters, whose effects mainly focus on setting up the Graveyard and then taking advantage of it. Some “Laval” monsters, like Laval Volcano Handmaiden, are able to send cards of their own archetype to the Graveyard, others, like Laval Stennon, can then use those cards to activate their effects.

Interestingly enough, after the release of Absolute Inferno, we are only missing two “Laval” monsters to complete the archetype: Laval Judgment Lord and Laval Magma Cannoneer, both of which are able to deal up to 1000 effect damage per turn via their effects. Anyway, now that we have Molten Conduction Field, it is definitely a lot easier to set up the Graveyard and, thanks to the Tuners introduced in the new Main BOX, the deck has access to a decent Extra Deck, which is also quite nice.

How to Use

Invoked Engine

Aleister the Invoker
Aleister the Invoker
DARK Spellcaster ★4
ATK 1000 / DEF 1800
Dark Dimension [UR]
(Quick Effect): You can send this card from your hand to the GY, then target 1 Fusion Monster you control; it gains 1000 ATK/DEF until the end of this turn. If this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: You can add 1 "Invocation" from your Deck to your hand.

Aliester has a quick effect that lets you boost the ATK of a Fusion monster by a significant amount. Extremely useful when Purgatrio is going in for the kill.

Invocation
Invocation
Normal Spell
Dark Dimension [UR]
Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand as Fusion Material. If Summoning an "Invoked" Fusion Monster this way, you can also banish monsters from your field and/or either player's GY as Fusion Material. If this card is in your GY: You can target 1 of your banished "Aleister the Invoker"; shuffle this card into the Deck, and if you do, add that card to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Invocation" once per turn.

In a FIRE attribute deck such as this, mixing in the Invoked engine gives you easy access to their most popular Fusion monster.

  1. Start the engine by Normal Summoning Aleister and fetching Invocation.
  2. Activate Invocation using Aleister on your field and a Laval monster in your graveyard as materials to make Purgatrio.
  3. Activate Invocation's graveyard effect to recover Aleister and put Invocation back in your deck.
  4. Repeat on your next turn.
Invoked Purgatrio
Invoked Purgatrio
FIRE Fiend ★8
ATK 2300 / DEF 2000
Aerial Assault [UR]
"Aleister the Invoker" + 1 FIRE monster
This card gains 200 ATK for each card your opponent controls. This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.

Inherent ATK boost, multi-attack, and piercing effects combined in one monster makes for a very potent damage dealer. Attack aggressively after summoning Purgatrio. Wipe out the enemy backrow with Dustflame Blast before summoning Purgatrio so it can attack safely.

Milling

Laval Volcano Handmaiden
Laval Volcano Handmaiden
FIRE Pyro ★1
ATK 100 / DEF 200
Absolute Inferno [R]
When this card is sent to the Graveyard, if you have a "Laval" monster in your Graveyard other than "Laval Volcano Handmaiden": You can send 1 "Laval" monster from your Deck to your Graveyard.

Handmaiden extends your milling. Her effect will trigger even if she wasn't destroyed, but you still need at least a “Laval” monster in your Graveyard other than “Laval Volcano Handmaiden” for that to happen.

You can mill other copies of Handmaiden with this effect; loading all of them into your graveyard at once.

Do not discard Handmaiden as cost for Cannoneer.

Molten Conduction Field
Molten Conduction Field
Normal Spell
Absolute Inferno [SR]
Send 2 "Laval" monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard.

Use Molten Conduction Field to set up your Graveyard for Dustflame Blast. If you have at least another “Laval” monster in your Graveyard when Laval Volcano Handmaiden is sent there, it will allow you to send a “Laval” monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.

Since Molten Conduction Field send all cards to the Graveyard simultaneously, it will be quite easy to activate Handmaiden’s effect as long as you don’t send it to the Graveyard on Chain Link 2 or higher or to activate a card like Enemy Controller or Hallowed Life Barrier.

Laval Monsters

Laval Magma Cannoneer
Laval Magma Cannoneer
FIRE Pyro ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 200
D.D. Castle: Assault [SR]
Up to twice per turn: You can send 1 FIRE monster from your hand to the Graveyard; inflict 500 damage to your opponent.

Cannoneer's effect lets you deal significant burn damage, use lakeside Lady or Forest Sprite as cost for this. However, Cannoneer's best quality is his 200 DEF stat, making him the only non-Tuner in this deck you can revive with Rekindling.

Laval Lakeside Lady
Laval Lakeside Lady
FIRE Pyro ★3
ATK 200 / DEF 200
Absolute Inferno [SR]
If this card is in your Graveyard and you have 3 or more "Laval" monsters with different names in your Graveyard: You can banish this card and 1 other "Laval" monster from your Graveyard to target 1 Set card your opponent controls; destroy that target.

Banishes itself and another Laval monster to destroy a set card.

There are a few issues with this effect:

  • If you target a Set card and your opponent flips it face-up in response, the card does NOT get destroyed because it’s not a suitable target anymore;

Setting that aside, this effect can be used to give Laval Cannon’s effect a suitable target ending in a Synchro Summon. And it’s not that bad when you’re facing off against Control and Stall decks, which do run a lot of back row. Getting three “Laval” monsters with different names into the Graveyard is really not an issue thanks to Laval Volcano Handmaiden.

Laval Cannon
Laval Cannon
FIRE Warrior ★4
ATK 1600 / DEF 900
Absolute Inferno [R]
Burning Nova [R]
When this card is Normal or Flip Summoned: You can target 1 of your banished "Laval" monsters; Special Summon that target.

The deck has a ton of banishing effect so Laval Cannon will most likely have suitable revival targets upon summoning. Normal Summon Laval Cannon and revive one of the Laval girls, depending on what level of Synchro you want to make.

Laval Forest Sprite
Laval Forest Sprite
FIRE Pyro ★2
ATK 300 / DEF 200
Absolute Inferno [N]
When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: All face-up "Laval" monsters you currently control gain 200 ATK for each "Laval" monster in your Graveyard, until the End Phase.

Forest Sprite's effect provides a slight boost to all your Laval monsters. Her level also makes her a good pair with Burner to make your wide range of level-7 Synchros.

Rekindling

Rekindling
Rekindling
Normal Spell
Rage of Volcano [UR]
Special Summon from your Graveyard as many FIRE monsters as possible with 200 DEF, but banish them during the End Phase.

The mass Special Summoning is great for enabling Synchro plays.

  • Revive Cannoneer and Lakeside Lady to make level-7 Synchros.
  • Cannoneer and Handmaiden to make Lavalval Dragon.
  • Cannoneer and Forest Sprite to make Lavalval Dragun.
  • Cannoneer, Lakeside Lady, and Forest Sprite to make Quariongandrax.

Dustflame Blast

Dustflame Blast
Dustflame Blast
Normal Trap
Absolute Inferno [R]
Banish all "Laval" monsters from your Graveyard; destroy any number of cards on the field, up to the number of monsters banished for this card's activation.

Dustflame Blast is a really powerful Trap Card that, with enough setup, could even end up wiping your opponent’s entire board by itself.

The Extra Deck

Battlewasp - Hama the Conquering Bow
Battlewasp - Hama the Conquering Bow
WIND Insect ★8
ATK 2800 / DEF 2000
Witchs Sorcery [UR]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
If this card was Synchro Summoned using a Synchro Monster as material, it can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. You can only use each of the following effects of "Battlewasp - Hama the Conquering Bow" once per turn.
● When this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can make all monsters your opponent currently controls lose 1000 ATK/DEF.
● At the end of your Battle Phase, if your opponent has not taken any battle damage this Phase: You can inflict 300 damage to your opponent for each "Battlewasp" monster in your GY.
Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon
Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon
FIRE Dragon ★7
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Force of Infinity [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 card in your Pendulum Zone; Special Summon it, also this card cannot attack for the rest of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon" once per turn. Monsters in your opponent's possession cannot activate their effects during the Battle Phase.
Black Rose Dragon
Black Rose Dragon
FIRE Dragon ★7
ATK 2400 / DEF 1800
Blazing Rose [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can destroy all cards on the field. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Plant-Type monster from your Graveyard, then target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; change that target to face-up Attack Position, and if you do, its ATK becomes 0 until the end of this turn.
Lavalval Dragon
Lavalval Dragon
FIRE Dragon ★5
ATK 2000 / DEF
Absolute Inferno [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner
FIRE monsters You can shuffle 2 "Laval" monsters from your Graveyard into your Main Deck to target 1 card your opponent controls; return it to the hand.

Bouncing cards back into the opponent’s hand is an efficient form of removal: big threats such as the Xyz, Synchros, and Fusion monsters will be difficult to bring back right away. You can use the monsters you used to Summon Lavalval Dragon as cost for its effect.

Laval Stennon
Laval Stennon
FIRE Pyro ★7
ATK 2700 / DEF 1800
Absolute Inferno [N]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner FIRE monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned: Send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard. During either player's turn, when this card is targeted by a card effect: You can banish 1 "Laval" monster from your Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy the targeting card.

This Level 7 Synchro can negate the effect of any card that targets it by simply banishing a “Laval” monster from your Graveyard. As long as your opponent is not able to get over Stennon by battle, it will be quite difficult to deal with this monster.

Graveyard disruption is good, but being tied to how many cards your opponent has onhand means you'll only be banishing 1 or 2 cards usually. This also doesn't bode well for its potential as a beater.

Laval Dual Slasher
Laval Dual Slasher
FIRE Pyro ★5
ATK 2400 / DEF 200
Absolute Inferno [R]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner FIRE monsters

This card gains effects based on the number of "Laval" monsters in your Graveyard:

● 2+: Once per turn, if this card attacks a Defense Position monster, it can attack once again in a row.
● 3+: If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing Battle Damage to your opponent.

Other Useful Cards

PSY-Framelord Zeta

PSY-Framelord Zeta
PSY-Framelord Zeta
LIGHT Psychic ★7
ATK 2500 / DEF 1800
Future Horizon [R]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls in face-up Attack Position; banish both that monster and this card from the field, but return them in your next Standby Phase. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can target 1 other "PSY-Frame" card in your Graveyard; return this card to the Extra Deck, and if you do, add that target to your hand.

Skill Suggestion

Skills

Axel Brodie
Axel Brodie

Weaknesses

  • The deck struggles against anything that is above 2700 ATK if your removal options are not available.
  • Sealed Tombs can be used to prevent you from activating Dustflame Blast and Laval Lakeside Lady’s effect, which means it can essentially shut down your Deck for an entire turn.

Other Cards Option

Other Laval Monsters

Laval Burner
Laval Burner
FIRE Pyro ★5
ATK 2100 / DEF 1000
Burning Nova [R]
If you have 3 or more "Laval" monsters with different names in your Graveyard, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand).

Due to the amount of milling in this deck, you'll almost always meet the requirements for Burner's inherent Special Summoning. Burner can then be used as Synchro material alongside a Normal Summoned Tuner.

Laval Lancelord
Laval Lancelord
FIRE Pyro ★6
ATK 2100 / DEF 200
Absolute Inferno [R]
Rage of Volcano [R] [R]
You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. If you do, during the End Phase: Send it to the Graveyard. When this card on the field is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 of your banished FIRE monsters; add that target to your hand.

Anti-Banish

Chaos Hunter
Chaos Hunter
DARK Fiend ★7
ATK 2500 / DEF 1600
Card Trader [UR]
When your opponent Special Summons a monster (except during the Damage Step): You can discard 1 card; Special Summon this card from your hand. Your opponent cannot banish cards.

Ancient Flamvell Deity

Ancient Flamvell Deity
Ancient Flamvell Deity
FIRE Pyro ★7
ATK 2500 / DEF 200
Absolute Inferno [R]
1 FIRE Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Pyro-Type monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned, remove from play cards from your opponent's Graveyard, up to the number of cards in their hand. This card gains 200 ATK for each card removed from play by this effect.

Lavalval Dragun

Lavalval Dragun
Lavalval Dragun
FIRE Dragon ★6
ATK 2500 / DEF 1200
Absolute Inferno [R]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner FIRE monsters
Once per turn: You can add 1 "Laval" monster from your Deck to your hand, then send 1 "Laval" monster from your hand to the Graveyard.

Use Dragun for deck cycling. The effect is great at getting the Laval girls in the graveyard to activate their effects.

Crystron Quariongandrax

Crystron Quariongandrax
Crystron Quariongandrax
WATER Machine ★9
ATK 3000 / DEF 3000
Cybernetic Rebellion [UR]
2 or more Tuners + 1 non-Tuner monster
If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target monsters your opponent controls and/or in their Graveyard, up to the number of Synchro Materials used for the Synchro Summon of this card; banish them. If this Synchro Summoned card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target 1 banished monster, except this card; Special Summon it to your field.

An extremely powerful Synchro monster that can only be realistically summoned in this deck with Rekindle. Banishes 3 enemy cards upon summoning which can effectively clear their field. Then with Quariongandrax's high ATK stats, you can go for the kill.

The floating effect is also not bad since you do a lot of banishing in this deck, giving you a lot options for revival target. Or you can revive the enemy monster you previously banished when Quariongandrax was summoned.

Shiranui Squiresaga

Shiranui Squiresaga
Shiranui Squiresaga
FIRE Zombie ★7
ATK 2100 / DEF 0
Soul of Resurrection [UR]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
You can only Special Summon "Shiranui Squiresaga(s)" once per turn. Once per turn: You can banish 1 face-up monster you control or in your GY, then apply these effects, in sequence, depending on what the monster was before it was banished, if it was any of these.
● Zombie: You can have all monsters you control gain 300 ATK.
● FIRE: You can destroy 1 Spell/Trap on the field.
● Synchro: You can destroy 1 monster on the field.

Squiresaga can banish a Laval monster in your graveyard to destroy an enemy Spell/Trap card. The milling ability of this deck ensures you'll have enough monsters to banish for cost. The banished monster can then be brought back by Laval Cannon; for another Synchro Summon if it was a Tuner.

Coral Dragon

Coral Dragon
Coral Dragon
WATER Dragon ★6
ATK 2400 / DEF 500
Chronicle of Glory [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn: You can discard 1 card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it. If this Synchro Summoned card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Coral Dragon" once per turn.

Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder

Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder
Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder
DARK Winged Beast ★12
ATK 3000 / DEF 2000
Aerial Assault [R]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
If this card is Synchro Summoned using a "Blackwing" monster as Material, it is treated as a Tuner while face-up on the field. Cannot be destroyed by card effects. You can target 1 "Blackwing" monster in your Graveyard; this card's Level becomes the same as that monster's. You can only use this effect of "Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder" once per Duel. If this card that was Synchro Summoned using only Synchro Monsters attacks, this card gains 3000 ATK during the Damage Step only.

Every time I play against this deck, the guy I'm fighting takes 7 turns to do anything, and then decides summoning Laval Dragoon while I have three traps on field is a good idea. Not sure if people understand the deck yet, but im hoping to see it in full glorious action someday.

They're part of the Duel Terminal story, a non-stop series of wars between tribes.

In this case, the tribes were Laval, Gem-Knights, Gishki and Gusto, and the war between them was stoped by the Vylons, while the Steelswarm was planing and attack.
