Thank you for sharing your tips with us IGN: BlueDelta
Usually i don’t jump on the meta bandwagon completely, but since Blue-Eyes White Dragon has been heavily promoted by the corresponding Structure EX deck, i joined it as well.
[Skill] description | User |
---|---|
Alternative Evolution Select 1 monster you control with 3000 or more ATK, whose original name is "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". The selected monster becomes "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon". This Skill can only be used once per Duel. | Seto Kaiba (DSOD) |
Ultimate Dragons At the beginning of the Duel, add "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", "Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", and "Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon" to your Extra Deck. Can be used turn 3 and onward by revealing 2 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in your hand to opponent. Add 1 "Polymerization" to your hand from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel. | Seto Kaiba (DSOD) |
Alternative Evolution or Ultimate Dragons?
Since Konami has released one copy of Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon i went with Ultimate Dragons, since this skill provides more tactical options. The skill can be used on the 3rd turn of the Duel, so if you go first you can use it on your second turn assuming you meat the condition of having two Blue-Eyes White Dragon in your hand (Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon counts as BEWD only on the field and in the GY).
Enemy Controller | Quick Spell |

Activate 1 of these effects.● Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; change that target's battle position.● Tribute 1 monster, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; take control of that target until the End Phase. |
Personally i consider all cards in this deck core, except the pair of Enemy Controllers.
The Melody of Awakening Dragon | Normal Spell |
Seto Kaiba [SR] | |
Discard 1 card; add up to 2 Dragon-Type monsters with 3000 or more ATK and 2500 or less DEF from your Deck to your hand. |
The Melody of Awakening Dragon grants you an easy opportunity to special Summon Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, so it is an absolute must in this version of the archetype.
Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon | LIGHT Dragon ★9 ATK 2500 / DEF 3000 |
Judgement Force [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner "Blue-Eyes" monsters Neither player can Special Summon 2 or more monsters at the same time. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when an effect of a card in the Graveyard is activated: You can negate the activation. During either player's turn: You can Tribute this Synchro Summoned card; Special Summon 1 LIGHT Dragon-Type Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck in Defense Position, except "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon", but destroy it during the End Phase of this turn. |
A good turn one play is Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon in defense mode.
Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon | LIGHT Dragon ★9 ATK 2500 / DEF 300 |
Stardust Acceleration [SR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Normal Monsters When this card is Special Summoned: Dragon-Type monsters you currently control cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects until the end of the next turn. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: You can target 1 Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. |
With 3k DEF not many monsters can go over it and if your opponent should be able to pull off a targeting destruction or banish play you can special summon Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon to get another powerful level 9 Synchro Monster on the board.
Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn | LIGHT Dragon ★7 ATK 2600 / DEF 2000 |
Judgement Force [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner LIGHT monsters Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP, then target 1 card on the field; banish that target. When this card is destroyed: You can target any number of other "Lightsworn" monsters in your Graveyard; shuffle them into the Deck, and if you do, you gain 300 LP for each returned card. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. |
I included one copy of Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn, since banishing is especially powerful vs. Monsters as most of them are GY related in the current meta.
Vermillion Dragon Mech | FIRE Machine ★9 ATK 2700 / DEF 1800 |
Blazing Rose [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn: You can banish 1 Tuner from your hand, field, or Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it. If this Synchro Summoned card is destroyed by card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 of your banished Tuners; add it to your hand. |
Including 2 copies of Vermillion Dragon Mech is not necessary by any means, but sometimes it can be useful to be able to pull of 2 destructions in one turn to go for lethal.
Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis | LIGHT Dragon ★8 ATK 3000 / DEF 2500 |
Infinite Ray [UR] | |
2 Level 8 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Tribute any number of monsters from your hand and/or your side of the field (minimum 1), then destroy an equal number of cards on the field. |
Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopos provides a lot of utility for this deck. First of all you can use two of your level 8 monsters to special summon a new one. Secondly it has a very powerful non-targeting destruction effect, comparable to that of Chaos Dragon Levianeer.
If you use the effect of Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopos your opponent will be asked if he wants to activate any effect, given he has backrow or monsters with Quick-Play effects (Spellspeed 2). If your opponent does not decide to activate his backrow (and you know it was activatable due to delays) you can now safely disable backrow with Spellspeed 2 or higher.
Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon | LIGHT Dragon ★8 ATK 3000 / DEF 2500 |
Alternative Evolution (Skill) [UR] 4th Anniversary Campaign [UR] | |
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by revealing "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in your hand. You can only Special Summon "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon" once per turn this way. This card's name becomes "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" while it is on the field or in the Graveyard. Once per turn: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy it. This card cannot attack the turn this effect is activated. |
If you have Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon on the field, you can destroy a monster and consequently use it for an XYZ summon, since it would be unable to attack that turn anyway.
Karma Cut | Normal Trap |
Arena of Sanctuary [SR] Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [SR] | |
Discard 1 card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; banish that target, then banish all cards with the same name as that monster from your opponent's Graveyard. |
The White Stone of Ancients | LIGHT Dragon ★1 ATK 600 / DEF 500 |
Lords of Shining [UR] | |
Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card is in the Graveyard because it was sent there this turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster from your Deck. You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "The White Stone of Ancients" once per turn. |
Karma Cut is one of the absolute staples in the current meta and has high synergy with The White Stone of Ancients.
Dragon Spirit of White | LIGHT Dragon ★8 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
The White Dragon of Legend [SR] | |
(This card is always treated as a "Blue-Eyes" card.)This card is treated as a Normal Monster while in the hand or Graveyard. When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls; banish it. During either player's turn, if your opponent controls a monster: You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand. |
But even Dragon Spirit of White proves to be good discard fodder, if you should happen to draw it. This way you can potentially get it back on the field with Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon, whereas it would be nothing but a dead card in your hand.
Noble Knights can be an extremely difficult matchup for this deck due to Noble Arms of Destiny granting protection from destruction by battle and card effect plus it re-equips to a different Noble Knight monster one time. Luckily i did not encounter many of them.
