text

Any effect that would inflict damage to a player increases their Life Points by the same amount, instead. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that would destroy a monster(s) on the field: You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.

Pros

  • Protects monsters from effect destruction.
  • Turns burn damage directed at you into heals.

Cons

  • Turns burn damage directed at your opponent into heal.

Tips

Burn Damage

A very good Anti-Burn card. Get this monster on the field and Burn decks can't do anything against you. But since most burn decks use Lava Golem, the only thing you need to worry about is Lava Golem's removal. Try to bait out Lava Golem before you summon your Prime Material Dragon.

Counter negative effects

Some cards have the drawback of burning it's user making them risky to use. Prime Material Dragon could turn these drawbacks into additional advantages. Take for example Aegis of Gaia which gives you 3000LP but damages you 3000LP when it leaves the field.

Effect destruction

Destroying monsters via card effect is the most common way of getting rid of monsters without doing battle. Prime Material Dragon protects against this form of removal and in turn destroys the opponent's card, and is particularly useful against mass destruction cards like Special Hurrican, Armed Dragon LV10, and Steelswarm Hercules. Use this against popular cards like Sylvan Marshalleaf, Noble Knight Drystan, Archfiend Emperor, and Sea Stealth Attack.

This card is as powerful as it is beautiful! But, I just got it and I'm still having a hard time using its special ability to my advantage....

Aegis of gaia, graverobber, and axe of fools (as long as its not equiped to the actual dragon) works well with it

I was only able to use it once against a burning damage deck

I have a question. I am testing a PMD/Mirror Wall + Solemn Scolding deck and they still do damage to lp instead of add 2k or 3k. Is that a bug or is that how it should be?

Paying life points are not considered as inflicting damage, they are not the same thing.

Sorry for noon question, but what would happen with prime material dragon and bad reaction to simochi? Would it be an infinite loop?

Noob* autocorrect -_-

nah, ..instead of heal it would be damage instead
<< Anonymous(LightSkull)

To prevent loop, it seems their effect is ruled to only works once per chain, despite being continuous effect.

Also, about whether it heals or damage, OCG ruling says it depends on the other card involved.

If a burn card (like Ookazi) is activated, PMD would resolve first, followed by Simochi, therefore, Ookazi still burns.

If a heal card (like Dian Keto) is activated, Simochi would resolve first, then PMD resolves, so Dian Keto still heals.

I mean, I'm not sure if the deck is still usable to begin with, regardless of this card....
Soup
Wait, so could you hypothetically use this with Mirror Wall?
<< Anonymous(Soup)
Anonymous Reply
no. mirror wall needs cost, not inflict damage.
<< Anonymous(Soup)
Anonymous Reply
Mirror Wall is paying with LP instead of effect damage.
