You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing, but its original ATK and DEF become halved. If Summoned this way, it is destroyed during the End Phase. You cannot Special Summon any monsters, except Fiend-Type monsters. Once per turn: You can banish 1 "Archfiend" card from your hand or Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target.
Pandemonium is a Field Spell that allows you to search for another “Archfiend” monster from your Deck to your hand which is lower level than Archfiend Emperor, when Archfiend Emperor was destroyed and sent to the Graveyard via its own effect. Archfiend Palabyrinth allows you to target Archfiend Emperor on your Field, then banish another Fiend-type monster from your Field to Special Summon 1 level 8 “Archfiend” monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. Call of the Archfiend is a very powerful continuous Trap that can revive your Archfiend Emperor from the Graveyard to the Field, by discarding any Fiend-type monster as cost. Trance Archfiend can activate its effect to discard Archfiend Emperor from your Hand to the Graveyard, in order to be Special Summoned with Call of the Archfiend. Archfiend General is both a powerful beater, and searcher for Pandemonium Field Spell. Archfiend Cavalry can Special Summon Archfiend Emperor from your Graveyard when it was destroyed by a Card effect.
There's a card called "Skill Drain" which negates the effects of monsters, just like Axe of Fools. And that's how it was ruled. The effect of losing half ATK/DEF is negated, but it's still destroyed at the End phase.
Effects can still be activated, so even with Axe equipped you can still activate the Emperor's effect. You will still need to banish one card (because it's a cost, which is not negated), but you will NOT be able destroy one card (because it's an effect). In short, don't use his ability, or you'll just end up throw ling one card away (not to graveyard, but banished).
Works perfect with palabrynth, if you have another fiend type normal summon this guy. Use it to special summon empress and when empress get destroyed you can get emporror out + you can use empress to destroy a card + a 3500 atk beater.
Ideal option if you dont have 3 call of the archfiend of 3 escapes of DD
FC actually reverts Qliphorts’ stats back to normal since it’s part of their effects to modify their own stats. There’s a reason why the deck goes so well with Skill drain and why people run at least 1 FC for that deck.
The same will happen to Archfiend emperor, but it will still get destroyed on its end phase.
Trust me, I’ve been running qliphorts and for a long time in ygopro.
