Destiny Draw Can be used when your Life Points decrease by 2000. In the Draw Phase, instead of conducting your normal draw, draw a card of your choice. This Skill can only be used one per Duel. | Yami Yugi |
Megaroid City | Field Spell |
Warriors Unite [R] | |
You can target 1 other card you control; destroy it, and if you do, add 1 "roid" card from your Deck to your hand. During damage calculation, if your "roid" monster battles: You can send 1 "roid" monster from your Deck to the GY; switch the original ATK and DEF of your battling monster during the damage calculation only. You can only use each effect of "Megaroid City" once per turn. You cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck, except Fusion Monsters, the turn you activate either of this card's effects (even if this card leaves the field). |
Megaroid City is mainly used to search Submarineroid. Destroy something that can be chained to Megaroid City, like Cosmic Cyclone or Fusion Reserve, to make the most use out of your cards. The Extra Deck restriction on only using Fusion monsters does not affect you since that's what you already built your deck around.
Submarineroid | WATER Machine ★4 ATK 800 / DEF 1800 |
Syrus Truesdale [SR] | |
This card can attack your opponent directly, but when it does so using this effect, the battle damage inflicted to your opponent is the original ATK of this card. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked or was attacked: You can change this card to Defense Position. |
Search Submarineroid with Megaroid City as a way to poke damage at your opponent. Use Megaroid City's effect to change Submarineroid's ATK and DEF, dealing significant damage with its direct attack.
The ATK and DEF changing effect also gives you a chance to mill a Roid monster to the graveyard. Use this to put Kiteroid in your graveyard as a defensive option, or put Rescueroid in the graveyard to use for summoning Invoked Purgatrio.
Kiteroid | WIND Machine ★1 ATK 200 / DEF 400 |
Card Trader [SR] | |
Activate when you discard this card from your hand during damage calculation after a direct attack. Any Battle Damage you would receive from that direct attack becomes 0. Only once, if you remove this card from the game when it is in your Graveyard, any Battle Damage you would receive from a direct attack becomes 0. |
Kiteroid prevents OTKs by reducing damage from a direct attack to 0. This effect can be used from the hand or graveyard, so Megaroid City milling Kiteroid is a good way to prepare your your defense.
Aleister the Invoker | DARK Spellcaster ★4 ATK 1000 / DEF 1800 |
Dark Dimension [UR] | |
(Quick Effect): You can send this card from your hand to the GY, then target 1 Fusion Monster you control; it gains 1000 ATK/DEF until the end of this turn. If this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: You can add 1 "Invocation" from your Deck to your hand. |
Invocation | Normal Spell |
Dark Dimension [UR] | |
Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand as Fusion Material. If Summoning an "Invoked" Fusion Monster this way, you can also banish monsters from your field and/or either player's GY as Fusion Material. If this card is in your GY: You can target 1 of your banished "Aleister the Invoker"; shuffle this card into the Deck, and if you do, add that card to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Invocation" once per turn. |
Aleister and Invocation are a recyclable versatile 2-card fusion engine allowing you to splash them in multiple decks. Normal summon Aleister to search Invocation and then make a Fusion monster using the Aleister on your field as material. Return Invocation to the deck and recover Aliester to your hand. Aliester can then be discarded for a stat boost if needed or Normal Summoned during your next turn for another Fusion combo. Use Fusion Reserve to search Aleister and start your combo-loop.
In mirror matches or when facing other decks that use Lava Golem, you can get rid of the Lava Golem your opponent gave you by using it as Fusion material with Aleister to make Purgatrio.
While the consistency and recyclability of the combo comes from Aleister and Invocation, the versatility comes from the range of effects your Invoked Fusions have.
Invoked Purgatrio | FIRE Fiend ★8 ATK 2300 / DEF 2000 |
Aerial Assault [UR] | |
"Aleister the Invoker" + 1 FIRE monster This card gains 200 ATK for each card your opponent controls. This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. |
Invoked Purgatrio is your offensive option, summon him by using Aleister and Rescueroid as materials. He can deal a large amount of damage, especially when your opponent controls multiple monsters for Purgatrio to gain ATK from and battle. Purgatrio's piercing effect is a great way to deal damage through monsters you put face-down with Floodgate Trap Hole, particularly against decks with all 0 DEF monsters like Shiranui. If you need more damage, you can discard the Aleister you have onhand to give Purgatrio a 1000 ATK boost.
Purgatrio is a good counter against Shiranui decks. Aside from its ability to pierce through a Floodgate Trap Holed Shiranui's 0 DEF, summoning Purgatrio lets you banish Shiranui monsters from your opponent's graveyard. This lets you banish Shiranui Spectralsword, preventing them from using its graveyard effect. However, this isn't a perfect counter since Purgatrio is vulnerable to the heavy backrow Shiranui decks run.
Invoked Caliga | DARK Beast ★4 ATK 1000 / DEF 1800 |
Dark Dimension [R] | |
"Aleister the Invoker" + 1 DARK monster If a player's monster effect attempts to activate, none of that player's monsters can activate their effects for the rest of this turn while this card is face-up on the field. Each player can attack with only 1 monster during each Battle Phase. |
Invoked Caliga is your control option, summon him by using two Aleister as materials. His first effect essentially prevents your opponent from activating monster effects if you already put Lava Golem on their field. This is because Lava Golem's effect that activates during their Standby Phase will count as their one effect for that turn. However this will only be good for Main Phase, since Lava Golem can easily attack over even a boosted Caliga.
Summoning Invoked Caliga can remove tech cards like Bacon Saver and Plaguespreader Zombie from your opponent's graveyard. Against DARK decks, like Dark Magician and Gravekeeper, this can disrupt your opponent's graveyard setup.
Adding an Xyz toolbox to the deck gives it a bit more versatility in terms of win condition aside from Purgatrio.
Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark | WATER Fish ★4 ATK 2600 / DEF 2100 |
Shark Fang [UR] | |
2 Level 4 WATER monsters When any player's monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; all monsters your opponent currently controls lose 1000 ATK until the end of this turn. When this card is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 other monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can only use each effect of "Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark" once per turn. |
Spider Shark is a great Xyz you can make with two Submarineroids. The ATK reduction effect deters the opponent from declaring attacks, and can also be used offensively to deal damage and attack over powerful monsters. This alongside Purgatrio can let you deal a lot more damage.
The floating effect essentially lets you revive anything from your graveyard.
Maestroke the Symphony Djinn | DARK Fiend ★4 ATK 1800 / DEF 2300 |
Shark Fang [UR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up Attack Position monster your opponent controls; change it to face-down Defense Position. If a "Djinn" Xyz Monster you control would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from that monster instead. |
Inherent protection effect from all forms of destruction gives it good stalling potential. Flipping an enemy monster face-down is a good way to turn off effects and expose weak DEF stats.
Gagaga Cowboy | EARTH Warrior ★4 ATK 1500 / DEF 2400 |
Gagaga XYZ | |
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; apply this effect, depending on this card's current battle position. ● Attack Position: If this card attacks an opponent's monster this turn, it gains 1000 ATK, also the opponent's monster loses 500 ATK, during the Damage Step only. ● Defense Position: Inflict 800 damage to your opponent. |
Gagaga Cowboy's defense position effect can occasionally steal you some wins by burning your opponent's last 400LP. The attack position effect is good for beating down bigger monsters.
Lava Golem | FIRE Fiend ★8 ATK 3000 / DEF 2500 |
Yami Marik [UR] Yami Marik event [UR] Yami Marik Starter Deck [UR] | |
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) to your opponent's side of the field by Tributing 2 monsters they control. You cannot Normal Summon/Set the turn you Special Summon this card. During each of your Standby Phases: Take 1000 damage. |
Lava Golem is a good way to get rid of monsters with protection such as Shiranui Sunsaga. Tributing your opponent's monster is a unique form of removal that cannot be responded to, so the only way of playing around Lava Golem is by only controlling one monster or with monsters like Quintet Magician.
Lava Golem is a good counter against Dark Magician Decks because Magician's Navigation usually puts two powerful monsters on the field. Perfect targets for Lava Golem.
Lastly, in addition to Submarineroid poking your opponent for 1800 damage. Lava Golem burns them for 500 damage during their Standby Phase sometimes letting you steal some wins, or at lest push you closer to winning.
Note by Morpheus:
"Many ways to win with this deck build. First, if Megaroid City (Field Spell) is on your side of the field, and you have no monster, you can destroy a card on your side of the field and then you can get a preferred ROID monster. You can direct attack with SUBMARINEROID or get kiteroid for direct attack protection. While you direct a attack with SUBMARINEROID, you can activate MEGAROID CITY to send a ROID monster to deal 1800 LP damage.
If you have Aleister, you can summon it and get a copy of INVOCATION, then using the field spell, destroy Aleister to get a ROID monster to fuse with Aleister.
If you have an extra copy of Megaroid City on your hand, or a dead Fiendish Chain, using Parallel Twister, you can send the other field spell or a dead FIENDISH CHAIN to destroy any card on the field.
The other back row support such as Floodgates, Karma Cut, and fusion reserved serves as a good backup. "
