How to Play

Izanagi & Amano-Iwato

Izanagi
Izanagi
WIND Fairy ★6
ATK 2200 / DEF 1000
Blackstorm Rising [R]
You can Special Summon this card from your hand by removing from play 1 Spirit monster from your hand. Spirit monsters you control do not have to have their effects that return them to the hand activated.

Izanagi is essential to prevent your Spirit monsters from returning to the hand. Get him on the field as soon as you can to maintain field presence.

Amano-Iwato
Amano-Iwato
EARTH Rock ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 1200
Card Flipper [SR]
Cannot be Special Summoned. Monsters cannot activate their effects, except Spirit monsters. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card was Normal Summoned or flipped face-up this turn: Return this card to the hand.

Amano-Iwato has the most important effect to this deck's control playstyle. Amano-Iwato effectively prevents your opponent from activating all their monster effects while he is face-up. With Izanagi on the field, this monster effect floodgate will always be up. Having Amano-Iwato's effect up during the opponent's turn prevents most decks from performing their core combos.

Yamato-no-Kami

Yamato-no-Kami
Yamato-no-Kami
DARK Warrior ★6
ATK 2200 / DEF 1200
Blackstorm Rising [N]
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing from play 1 Spirit monster from your Graveyard. This card returns to its owner's hand during the End Phase of the turn it is Special Summoned. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, you can destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card your opponent controls.

Yamato-no-Kami only destroys backrow after battle, which still leaves him vulnerable to battle traps. However, you can still use this effect to pop Spell/Traps that stay on the field such as Continuous Spell/Traps and Field Spells. Yamato-no-Kami is also has decent ATK among Spirit monsters you can easily get on the field, so he is an ideal beater for the deck.

Additionally, Yamato-no-Kami is also this deck's Rank-6 enabler due to his inherent self Special Summoning effect. Use the Skill Level Duplication and reveal Yamato-no-Kami, then Special Summon him and use both level-6s to make a Rank-6.

Other Spirit Monsters

Tsukuyomi
Tsukuyomi
DARK Spellcaster ★4
ATK 1100 / DEF 1400
Guardians of Rock [SR]
Cannot be Special Summoned. During the End Phase of the turn this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. When this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: Target 1 face-up monster on the field; change that target to face-down Defense Position.

Summon Tsukuyomi to flip an opponent's monster face-down. This is a good way to expose weak DEF stats and turn off continuous effects.

Yaksha
Yaksha
WATER Fairy ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 1500
Tabletop RPG: Monster World Event [SR]
Cannot be Special Summoned. During the End Phase of the turn this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. When this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: You can target 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls; return that target to the hand.

Yaksha is more effective than Yamato-no-Kami at getting rid of battle traps. However, his removal effect can only be activated once upon summoning. You can target Yaksha with Tsukuyomi's effect to reuse the effect of that Yaksha on the field.

Extra Decks

Constellar Ptolemy M7
Constellar Ptolemy M7
LIGHT Machine ★6
ATK 2700 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [UR]
2 Level 6 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Constellar" Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material, other than "Constellar Ptolemy M7". (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If Summoned this way, the following effect cannot be activated this turn. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster on the field or in either player's Graveyard; return that target to the hand.

Any combination of Izanagi and Yamato-no-Kami can be used to sumon Ptolemy M7, but it is best to keep at least one Izanagi always present on the field. This Xyz monster provides non-destruction removal which also doesn't send the target to the graveyard, bypassing most floating. Monsters that do not end up in the graveyard are also harder to recycle, especially if it was an Extra Deck monster.

You can also select a monster in your own graveyard and recover it.

Photon Strike Bounzer
Photon Strike Bounzer
LIGHT Warrior ★6
ATK 2700 / DEF 2000
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 6 monsters
Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a monster effect is activated on your opponent's side of the field: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effect, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent.

Another powerful Rank-6 with a control effect. But this monster is much less effective if Amano-Iwato is already on the field.

Sword Breaker
Sword Breaker
EARTH Warrior ★6
ATK 2700 / DEF 1000
Shining Hope [R]
2 Level 6 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to declare 1 Monster Type; this card gains the following effect. At the start of the Damage Step, if this card battles a monster of a Type that has been declared: Destroy that monster.

Like your other Rank-6 Xyzs, Sword Breaker is a good beater. The effect is continuous, so Sword Breaker can be quite strong against decks that only use one or two types of monsters. Great against Blue-Eyes, Blackwing, Noble Knights, etc.

Number C39: Utopia Ray
Number C39: Utopia Ray
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [UR]
3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 39: Utopia" you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; it gains 500 ATK and 1 monster your opponent controls loses 1000 ATK, until the End Phase. You must have 1000 Life Points or less to activate and to resolve this effect.

Powerful OTK enabler, but can only be used when you're low on LP. Because of this it is best made for clutching games. The effect can be used multiple times in one turn to reduce an opponent's monster's ATK to nothing while also boosting Utopia Ray's ATK.

Always summon Utopia Ray by upgrading from Utopia.

Number 39: Utopia
Number 39: Utopia
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Shining Hope [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters
When any player's monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the attack. When this card is targeted for an attack, while it has no Xyz Materials: Destroy this card.

With only one copy of Utopia, it is best to reserve it until you plan to make Utopia Ray.

Steelswarm Roach
Steelswarm Roach
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 0
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
During either player's turn, when a Level 5 or higher monster would be Special Summoned: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the Special Summon, and if you do, destroy it.

The earlier you can make Roach the more useful he is. Since most boss monsters are high leveled, Roach's presence on the field effectively deters most enemy win conditions.

Diamond Dire Wolf
Diamond Dire Wolf
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 1200
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them.

Dire Wolf destroys itself along with an enemy card. Summon it for quick on-demand removal.

No use of mystic box or the other spell card that lets you gain life points when your spirit monster destroys your opponent monster

This deck list is not very good. I run a different version of this deck and do fairly well

I like to use Mystic Box for suprising. The monster your opponent receives goes back to your hand in the end phase.

this is what the computer uses in it's spirit deck... really good to use in any spirit deck for removal.

Why are you using Harpies at all? :/

Because you have some S/T removal and HHG also boosts your Shinobibird

Oh, the Harpy Field card ability. Makes more sense now...

I think you should take out pumprincess. Spirit relies on continuous/equip spells and its just going to take up space. You rely on heavy burst and speed for your deck so its just going to hinder you more.

Roll with susa to take out high atk monsters.

Pure spirit deck isn't very good as far as I see it.. though if you implement a fee spirit cards in some ither deck, it's very good.
For example, I'm using 1 Susa Soldier, 2 Shinobirds, 2 Otohime + 2 Spirit's Invitations, 2 "+LP ball" equip spells and 1 Shinobird Power Spot. The rest are other cards that would support it, or being supported by the spirits. It's very versatile, gets rid of any lvl 5+ monsters quickly and the equip spells are enough to almost negate or even surpass the direct attacks. I call it the troll deck because I can almost smell the frustrations opponents sometimes experience :D

Maiku would be a great match for Susa Soldier. It would clean everything.
FreaqqShow
I would add Fiend Mega-Cyber, maybe 1 or 2 Sphere Kuribos and Mystical Box.

Also cut out 1 Susa Soldier and Shinobibird Power Spot
<< Anonymous(FreaqqShow)

That is exactly what i added.

I dont have the second UR spirit. So i go with mega - cyber and i run a copy of apohis just for the high defense. It is working really good

I just need 1 more Susa Soldier and maybe 1 more Asura Priest but I think 1 Asura Priest is enough.
And I have to farm 1 or 2 Mystical Boxes and level Yugi to 25 for another Box.

If I have all those cards I will try different Characters (Kaiba, Mai and Mako).
I thought of playing this deck with Mai and add Harpyie Lady 2 and 3.
Shinobibird gets 200 ATK and DEF from HHG aswell.
drager
You shouldn't run Otohime. Run 2 Susa Soldier over x3.
Run Gyaku-Gire's

Also the Mirror isn't as good as you lot are making it out to be. You should be setting your Spirits more often.

Daemon Blitzkrieg Reply
What neither of you are seeing is with Power Spot, Spirit monsters can wreck the field in any mode. Also that with Mirror, all you need to do is wear it for 1 turn, ONE TURN, and that Spirit is going nowhere. Destroy mirror yourself or Gravelstorm it back into your hand while ditching an opponent's card and your set. Spirits have epic potential with these Shinobird cards.

My Spirit deck runs the Power Spot with crane set. So I can draw into my Asura to wipe board turn 2. It's just more damage that way.

Never thought about using Gravelstorm, it is a good idea but the deck lacks any reliable burst to maximise gravel.

Daemon Blitzkrieg Reply
If you don't mind giving up your cards, Storm is an alternative to clear the way, especially after Mirror's 1st turn as it's useless. Then you can place another Power Spot or a better Equip like Baou or Graal. Storm is a stop from Odion btw.
