Spirit monsters' biggest drawback is their effect of returning to the hand during the End Phase. To offset this demerit, use Izanami, Spiritual Energy Settle Machine, or Mirror of Yata which lets you keep them on the field.
Spirit's Invitation makes use of Spirit monsters' demerit by also returning your opponent's monster back to hand. Since you will usually only be summoning low-leveled Spirit monsters their stats may not be the best, Shinobird Power Spot boosts the stats of your Spirit monsters.
