Pros

  • Can be Special Summoned from your hand by sending 1 level 8 or higher monster from your hand to the Graveyard.
  • If this monster is tributed for a level 7 or higher monster, that monster cannot be destroyed by card effects.

Cons

  • Needs to discard a level 8 or higher monster to the Graveyard as a cost to Special Summon.
  • Weak ATK and DEF stats.

Tips

  • This is a very useful card to fill your Field with monsters, either you can use it for Tribute summoning, or you can use it to defend your Field.
  • If you are using Blue Eyes White Dragon combo with this monster, you can also consider using Burst Stream of Destruction as a tech choice to destroy all your opponent’s monsters.

Level 8 Monsters

Blue Eyes White Dragon can be discarded to the Graveyard, and subsequently Special Summoned back to the Field by using Birthright or Soul Resurrection. Another possible combo is to Special Summon Hardened Armed Dragon by discarding Blue Eyes White Dragon, then use Dragon’s Rebirth to Special Summon Blue Eyes White Dragon from the Graveyard to the Field, and banish Hardened Armed Dragon. Darkstorm Dragon and Phoenix Gearfried are both level 8 Gemini monsters that can be easily Special Summoned from the Graveyard by using Birthright, Soul Resurrection or Supervise. Archfiend Emperor, Archfiend Empress and Invader of Darkness are level 8 Fiend-type monsters that can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard by using Call of the Archfiend.

Auxiliary support

Since the potential of swarming your opponent’s is very high due to the Special Summoning, you can also use Dragon Gunfire to either inflict 800 LP damage to your opponent, or destroy 1 monster with 800 or less DEF. Stamping Destruction can also be used to destroy 1 Spell/Trap card your opponent controls and deals 500 LP damage to them. Using Hey, Trunade! Or Anti Magic Arrows also efficiently removes your opponent’s backrow protection to enable your Attacks to go through easily.

That's because they are ritual summoned when Harden Armed Dragon states it's effect only applies for tribute summoned monsters. However, this card is hilarious with the Earthbound Immortal archetype... fun time with an unkillable Ccupac Apu.

No, this card is not an "Armed Dragon" monster in the OCG.

They haven't reprint the card in TCG, however, the official database has an updated text that mentions it is not treated as an "Armed Dragon" monster.

It can be destroyed by card effect. Heck its own effect destroys it if it becomes Defense Position.

Oh, you meant using Hardened Armed Dragon to summon Eye of the Typhoon?

It's a good idea, just need to find how to make Hardened Armed Dragon work in a Cloudian deck
