This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it become an Effect Monster with this effect.● If your opponent activates a Spell Card: You can target 1 Gemini monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. During either player's turn, when a Spell/Trap Card is activated that targets a monster(s) on the field: You can send 1 face-up Equip Card you control to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.

Evaluation

Rating7.5/10

Pros

  • High attack and good defense
  • 2 effects can activate if your opponent uses a spell card.
  • To negate a targeted spell/trap you can send a face-up equip card that is equipped to a different monster.

Cons

  • Requires 2 tributes.
  • Needs to be summoned again to have the effects up.
  • Negate spell/trap only works on ones that targets a monster on the field. It will not stop cards like Mirror Wall or Windstorm of Etaqua.

Tips

  • Flame Ruler or Blazewing Butterfly with Super Double Summon to summon him easier.
  • Since this card can be special summoned, you can use Blazing Hiita on a monster you control or a token to special summon him.
  • Use Super Double Summon to have his ability up immediately. This is mostly if you are certain your opponent will be using spell cards or prevent them from using any. If they do, you can revive a gemini monster from your graveyard.
  • Equip him with Smoke Grenade of the Thief once his effect is already available. This can prevent your opponent from using spells altogether.

Wonder if we'll ever going to get the remake/upgrade version of this card, God Phoenix Gearfried.
Anonymous
If the spell negated its summon effect is not active.

Send and destroy is different so smoke grenade won't be triggered

Kinda wish Soulburner use this card again once in while.

Combo's well with Champions Vigilance on the turn it is summoned to preserve it from any attacks, so next turn you can normal summon it and get other combo's rolling.

Sorry guys.
Open 1 pack, get this card.

Me too! First pack in the game and of the BOX, got Phoenix Gearfried!

The game glitched on me and gave me two Phoenix Gearfrieds without resetting the box and 4 screeches(SR) which sucks cause screech is such a lame card. And now that I reset the box it gave me my third Phoenix Gearfried

He clearly states that screech is a lame card. Idk about you, but thats a pretty good reason to assume he was somewhat unhappy with the fact he collected four screech's with this glitch rather than something else that he would find useful, imo... Anyway, open your mind bub & attempt to look at things from different perspectives &/or notice the inevitable possibilities before stating your opinion.

That's what happen when lil kids using internet pals, they got no manners.

His effect does not trigger on the order to charge spellcard.
Is that a bug?
Or can it only activate after order to charge and therefore it cant if its used on your gearfried?
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Man there's definitely a bug. So frustrating. Makes the game unplayable.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Order to Charge does not target, so this card cannot use against it.
<< Anonymous
Mr. Blacklaw Reply
Order to Charge actually DOES target on activation. After that, it does NOT target an enemy mons.
Mr. Blacklaw
The game (actually this card) is bugged. I've been meaning to run a meta deck with Gearfried and Destruction Swordmaster, but right now, Fried's effect cannot be triggered while an enemy monster is equipped to Buster Blader. I know it works bcs I tested it on YGOpro. How the hell hasn't this been noticed? This shouldn't be a bug.

dumb white Reply
its not a glitch, the monster is equipped but it is not an equip card. equip cards can only be spell cards with an equip icon
<< Anonymous(dumb white)
Mr. Blacklaw Reply
Excuse me, but the effect does NOT specifically say it requires "equip spells" but equip cards.
<< Anonymous(dumb white)
Mr. Blacklaw Reply
Also, any monsters equipped to another monster are treated as spell cards in the spell/trap zones, might I remind you.

An update:

Hey, I just thought I would test his effect with a legit EQUIP SPELL against my own block attack, and it still didn't work.

I think devs intentionally made it so that Gearfried can't negate YOUR OWN cards (possibly because it could cause confusion for beginners. or maybe for UI issues.)

So anyway, the card is still bugged, but it should work in PVP.

No one run gemini again :(
