Cons
Weak ATK and DEF stats.
Need to pay 500 LP to use its effect.
This card is banished if it leaves the Field after being Special Summoned from the Graveyard.
Tips
Vampire Retainer also effectively becomes a Tribute Fodder for your higher level Vampire monsters, and it can swiftly search for Vampire Takeover, and in turn Vampire Takeover will place Vampire Kingdom directly from your Deck to the Field, and grants additional effects to Special Summon 1 Vampire monster from your Graveyard to the Field in defense position. Of course, you can opt to search for Vampire Kingdom instead for alternative plays.
Due to the steep cost of LP to conduct most of the Special Summons, Vampire Deck relies on sending monsters from the Deck to the Graveyard as setup for Special Summons, as well as efficient Search power to quickly end the duel.
Vampire Support
Vampire Kingdom grants all your Vampire monsters 500 ATK boost during Damage Calculation only. It also grants additional effect for you to destroy any card on the Field if your opponent sends 1 card from their Deck to the Graveyard. This effect benefits Vampire Lord and Vampire Lady because they are capable of forcing your opponent to send a designated card type (Monster/Spell/Trap) of your choice, from their Deck to the Graveyard, when these monsters deal battle damage to your opponent.
Vampire's Desire is a versatile Spell card that allows you to either send 1 Vampire monster from your Deck to the Graveyard (and make your targeted face-up monster’s level equal to that Vampire monster), or you can send 1 face-up monster you control to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 “Vampire” monster from your Graveyard.
Vampire Takeover is a powerful Trap card that can place 1 Vampire Kingdom Field Spell to your Field directly from your Deck. You must control no Field Spell and minimum 1 Zombie-type monster to use this effect, and all your monsters must be Zombie-type. Additionally, you can Special Summon 1 Vampire monster from your Graveyard to the Field in defense position.
Vampire's Domain is a Continuous Spell card that allows you to pay 500 LP for additional Normal Summon of 1 Vampire monster, on top of your Normal Summon/Set. Additionally, it allows you to leech the amount of battle damage dealt to your opponents by your Vampire monsters, to recover your LP equivalent to the amount of battle damage. Vampire Retainer can search for any of these listed cards from your Deck to your Hand.
Since all Vampire monsters are Zombie-type, they gain benefits from these cards. Call of the Mummy allows you to directly Special Summon 1 Zombie-type monster from your Hand, provided you control no monsters.
Il Blud is capable of Special Summoning any Zombie-monster from your Graveyard, but if Il Blud leaves the Field, these Special Summoned monsters will be destroyed as well.
Gozuki and Samurai Skull can be used to send “Vampire” monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard, setting up for them to be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.
There is a bug with this card: it doesnt get banished like its supposed to after it leaves the field when it uses its special summon effect. I played against Vagabond and it special summoned itself to the field twice, I killed it by battle twice and it just went back to graveyard
It only banishes itself when you use its own effect to special summon him from the graveyard to the field. If you use other cards to special summon it, eg vampire desire, it won't banish itself even though its deck search effect still triggers.
Desire works just fine, if you use it on Retainer after you use Retainer's effect it wont work because Retainer gets banished instead of going to the graveyard do to its own effect.
