King of the Beasts: deck recipe

This deck mostly centers around EARTH Beast-Type monsters featured in Secrets of the Ancients, the last Mini BOX. With Beast Striker and Caninetaur, you are able to thin your Deck and, with the help of cards such as Super Rush Recklessly and Beast Rising, you can quickly overwhelm your opponent.

Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest and King of the Beasts are the main monsters of the deck, they have a decent amount of ATK and, thanks to the fact that you can Special Summon them from the Graveyard, they are not that easy to get rid of.

Once per turn, if Caninetaur battles an opponent's monster, during damage calculation, meaning outside of the window of opportunity within which most cards can be activated, you can send 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster from your hand or Deck to the Graveyard to make Caninetaur gain ATK equal to the sent monster's Level x100 until the end of the Battle Phase. Use Caninetaur to send King of the Beasts from the Deck to the Graveyard and apply early pressure on the opponent.

Once per turn, by discarding a card, Beast Striker allows you to Special Summon a Moja from your Deck. You can then Tribute Moja to Special Summon King of the Beasts from your hand or Graveyard.

King of the Beasts doesn’t have any particular effect, but, since it can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard, getting rid of it is not that easy. With 2500 ATK King of the Beasts is not able to naturally get over common threats such as Masked HERO Anki and Blue-Eyes White Dragon, but it does tie with Vampire Grace under Vampire Kingdom.

Closed Forest is a quite interesting card that is able to increase the ATK of your Beast-Type monsters and, at the same time, prevent the opponent from activating Field Spells (Vampire Kingdom and Fire King Island). If Closed Forest is destroyed, your opponent will still not be able to activate Field Spells until the end of the turn.

By destroying a Beast-Type monster you control, Super Rush Recklessly allows you to shuffle back into the deck an opponent’s monster. This Trap Card will trigger Green Baboon’s effect, allowing you to Special Summon it.

Super Rush Recklessly is an incredible card because it allows you to remove monsters like Silent Magician, Yubel - Terror Incarnate and even Samurai Skull from the field without triggering their effects.

Under Gaia Power, your monsters’ ATK will be increased by 500, putting Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest and King of the Beasts on the same level as Cosmo Brain and Blue-Eyes White Dragon respectively. Cosmic Cyclone and Green Baboon can give you direct access to this Skill.

Restart can significantly increase the consistency of the deck; you want to avoid King of the Beasts and Moja in your starting hand since they are the card that you can “search”.

• Consistency can be an issue: if you start with multiple copies of Moja in your hand, Beast Striker will lose a lot of value.
• The deck can struggle dealing with high ATK monsters without the help of Mirror Wall and the Field Spell.
• Spellbook of Fate, Vampire Vamp and D.D. Assailant can get rid of Green Baboon and King of the Beasts.
