Pros

  • Can be Special Summon itself.
  • Protects Rock-type monsters from effect destruction.
  • Searches up to 3 Rock-type monsters from your deck.

Cons

  • Special Summoning cost can be hefty.
  • Rock-type monsters you search with this monster's effect must have their total levels be 8 or lower.

Tips

Magnet Warrior

Based on the box it was released in, it is implied that Block Dragon was meant to be used alongside Magnet Warriors, more specifically Electromagnet Warriors. Electromagnet Warriors’ ability to tribute themselves and search out other Magnet Warriors lets you fill the graveyard to fuel Block Dragon’s summoning cost.

Gem-Knight

Gem-Knight monsters used as fusion materials in your graveyard can be reused as cost for Block Dragon’s summoning. Block Dragon can in turn search out more Gem-Knights to use as fusion material when he leaves the field.

Koa’ki Meiru

You can form a Rock themed deck with the Rock-type Koa’ki Meiru monsters. In this case Block Dragon can prevent them from destroying themselves when you cannot provide their maintenance cost.

Release from Stone

Use Release from Stone to revive the monsters you banished as cost during Block Dragon’s summoning.

Well, technically this card is op. Draw sense: spell/trap is nerfed because of this. Easy special summon, protection, search monsters from deck as its floating effect. Also Block Dragon OTK in DL, which players usually bring Jet Synchron in this deck is banned as well in TCG. Lol.

One question: I have the block dragon and bersekion on the field, if I activate the bersekion effect and target the red eyes slash dragon, what happens?

Slash Dragon negates Berserkion but Berserkion stays on the field

Here's the staple boss monster for every rock deck ever. So if you're a fan of rock monsters, you'll want to get this card.

The thinker
Does this mean that it prevents koaki meiru sandman and wall from 🔥 death so the diamond core can be saved for later?
