How To Play

Crystal Rose

Crystal Rose
Crystal Rose
LIGHT Rock ★2
ATK 500 / DEF 500
Zuzu Boyle [R]
Once per turn: You can send 1 "Gem-Knight" or "Melodious" monster from your hand or Deck to the Graveyard, and if you do, this card's name becomes the sent monster's name, until the End Phase. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can banish 1 Fusion Monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card in Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Crystal Rose" once per turn.

Since it's a Light attribute, you can use this with any other Gem Knight monster to fuse into Seraphinite. Once Crystal Rose is in the graveyard, you can special summon it back to the field by banishing any fusion from the grave. Being special summoned from the grave will help if you want to go for the Lapis Lazuli burn playstyle.

Once your grave is more fueled, you can activate this effect to send Lazuli from deck to grave. This lets you pick up cards from grave to hand so you can fuse into something that you need. Keep in mind that this effect is not hard once per turn, which means you can activate it if you normal summon it, then special summon it again.

When it's on the field, you can activate the skill to return all of your banished fusion monsters back to the extra deck. Make sure to activate any that can banish them beforehand like Gem-Knight Fusion, Master Diamond, or Block Dragon's effect.

Gem-Knight Lazuli & Gem-Knight Obsidian

Gem-Knight Lazuli
Gem-Knight Lazuli
EARTH Rock ★1
ATK 600 / DEF 100
Primal Burst [R]
If this card is sent to the Graveyard by a card effect: You can target 1 Normal Monster in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.

The effect is very easy to activate, but the main way to use it is through using Gem-Knight Fusion or Lapis Lazuli fusion monster. You can use whatever techs to send it to the grave as well like Lightsworns or Needlebug Nest.

Use its effect to pick up whatever normal monster you have in the grave. This helps with card advantage to go into Master/Brilliant Diamond, but you'll also have to keep in mind what fusion you'll want to do. Lapis is used to get Lapis Lazuli fusion, but you can only special summon it once per turn.

Gem-Knight Obsidian
Gem-Knight Obsidian
EARTH Rock ★3
ATK 1500 / DEF 1200
Burning Nova [R]
If this card is sent from the hand to your Graveyard: You can target 1 Level 4 or lower Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.

Main way of triggering its effect is by using Gem-Knight Fusion. If you have an empty monster zone, consider using Obsidian with at least 1 normal monster. Zirconia being the easiest one, or any of the fusions that require 3 monsters.

Ideally, if you have Raiden, you can fuse into Seraphinite which is more useful because of her additional summon effect.

Once it's in the grave, you can use it as the cost to return Gem-Knight Fusion back to hand since you can't recover this with other cards.

Block Dragon

Block Dragon
Block Dragon
EARTH Rock ★8
ATK 2500 / DEF 3000
Guardians of Rock [SR]
Selection Box Vol. 03 [SR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand or Graveyard) by banishing 3 EARTH monsters from your hand and/or Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Rock-Type monsters you control cannot be destroyed, except by battle. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can add up to 3 Rock-Type monsters from your Deck to your hand, whose total Levels equal 8. You can only use this effect of "Block Dragon" once per turn.

This is a core card in the deck since it helps you get 3 specific cards from the deck to hand, allowing you to extend the combo a lot more than without it.

Easiest way to special summon it is through the milling from Lightsworn cards. Once you can bring this out, fuse into Zirconia using any Gem-Knight monster that you have to send Block Dragon to the grave.

Once you send it to the grave, you'll want to search for at least 1 Crystal Rose since it can send 2 cards from deck to grave. The other 2 can be Obsidian or Lazuli depending on what you need.

Lightsworn Engine

These cards are simply here to help with milling cards from deck to grave. The best starting hand will want at least 1 Charge of the Light Brigade. Then bring Raiden out and activate his effect.

The main card that you want to have in hand/grave are Block Dragon, some Gem-Knight monsters so you can revive the Block Dragon, and Gem-Knight Fusion. Of course, if you have any of these in your hand, then you don't need them milled from the deck to grave.

The important thing is if you can bring out Block Dragon to the field and perform a fusion to get some search effects.

Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn
Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 1000
Judgement Force [SR]
Selection Box Vol.04 [SR]
During your Main Phase: You can send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard, then if any "Lightsworn" monsters were sent to the Graveyard by this effect, this card gains 200 ATK until the end of your opponent's turn. You can only use this effect of "Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn" once per turn. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.
Charge of the Light Brigade
Charge of the Light Brigade
Normal Spell
Judgement Force [SR]
Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard; add 1 Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monster from your Deck to your hand.

Other Gem-Knight Monsters

Gem-Knight Alexandrite
Gem-Knight Alexandrite
EARTH Rock ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF 1200
Burning Nova [R]
You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Gem-Knight" Normal Monster from your Deck.

If you can summon this with Seraphinite, you have the option of going into Iolite or Amber so you can recover some cards. Otherwise, the only good choice to bring out is Lazuli, but only if you can perform a fusion.

Gem-Knight Iolite
Gem-Knight Iolite
EARTH Aqua ★4
ATK 1300 / DEF 2000
Burning Nova [N]
This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it become an Effect Monster with this effect.
● Once per turn: You can banish 1 "Gem-" monster from your Graveyard to target 1 "Gem-Knight" card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.

Being a normal monster means that you can recover this with cards like Obsidian or Lazuli. Its gemini effect is helpful to recover some cards, but requiring a normal summon can be bad if you need to use it for something like Raiden or any other monster.

The other use for Iolite is to fuse into Amethyst. This is essentially the ONLY way for this deck to deal with opponent's back row if you don't bring any other techs.

Gem-Knight Fusion

Gem-Knight Fusion
Gem-Knight Fusion
Normal Spell
Burning Nova [SR]
Fusion Summon 1 "Gem-Knight" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or your side of the field as Fusion Materials. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can banish 1 "Gem-Knight" monster from your Graveyard; add this card to your hand.

A simple fusion spell to fuse into any of the Gem-Knight fusion monsters, but with a self recovery effect. The important thing is that its recovery effect is not once per turn, allowing you to infinitely use this over and over as long as you can afford it.

Best card to use as the cost of recovery is by banishing Obsidian since it's not a normal monster, and is useless once it's in the grave.

Extra Decks

Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond
Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond
EARTH Rock ★10
ATK 3400 / DEF 2000
Burning Nova [UR]
3 "Gem-Knight" monsters
Must first be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Materials. You can only Special Summon "Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond(s)" once per turn. Once per turn: You can send 1 "Gem-Knight" monster you control to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Gem-Knight" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions.

Use its effect to special summon Master Diamond or Lady Lapis Lazuli. Try and send Lazuli to the Graveyard to get more value back from this effect.

Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli
Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli
EARTH Rock ★5
ATK 2400 / DEF 1000
Burning Nova [R]
"Gem-Knight Lapis" + 1 "Gem-Knight" monster
Must first be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Materials. You can only Special Summon "Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli(s)" once per turn. Once per turn: You can send 1 "Gem-Knight" monster from your Main Deck or Extra Deck to the Graveyard, and if you do, inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each Special Summoned monster on the field.

This is essentially the card that enables First Turn Kill (FTK) if you're playing a burn Gem-Knight focused deck, but this requires some setup and specific cards. Even when your opponent has no special summon monster, you can bring out 3 special summon monsters, including itself, to deal the first 1500 effect damage.

After that, fuse into Master Diamond by using the Lapis Lazuli and copy her effect, which will end up banishing the Lapis Lazuli. Use Fusioning Maestra skill to return the Lapis Lazuli back to the extra deck, then use the Master Diamond to deal the second 1500 effect damage by sending the Lapis Lazuli from extra deck to grave.

Last step is to simply fusion summon another Master Diamond and copy the Lapis Lazuli that was just sent to the grave. Sending any card you have available to deal another 1500/1000 effect damage needed to FTK.

Gem-Knight Master Diamond
Gem-Knight Master Diamond
EARTH Rock ★9
ATK 2900 / DEF 2500
Primal Burst [UR]
3 "Gem-Knight" monsters
Must first be Fusion Summoned. This card gains 100 ATK for each "Gem-" monster in your Graveyard. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Level 7 or lower "Gem-Knight" Fusion Monster from your Graveyard; until the End Phase, this card's name becomes that monster's, and replace this effect with that monster's original effects.

It's easily summonable because you can use literally any gem knight monsters, but even easier if you fuse into Brilliant Diamond and use 1 monster to get this out.

If you want to play a burn focused deck that can FTK, you'll need to bring at least 2 in the deck. Otherwise, it's a nice 2900 ATK beater that can be any fusion monster that's in the grave.

Gem-Knight Seraphinite
Gem-Knight Seraphinite
EARTH Fairy ★5
ATK 2300 / DEF 1400
Primal Burst [SR]
1 "Gem-Knight" monster + 1 LIGHT monster
Must first be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Material Monsters. During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon/Set 1 monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.)

If you're playing the deck with Raiden for the Lightsworn's milling power, having Seraphinite lets you turn Raiden into a Gem-Knight monster to have better synergy with the other Gem-Knight cards, as well as changing his normal summon into a special summon in case you're playing Lapis Lazuli burn. Doing this will also prevent you from ending up decking out due to Raiden's continuous mill effect during end phase.

The additional summon effect can be nice to use for Crystal Rose, or any of the gemini Gem-Knights if you haven't normal summoned on that turn.

Gem-Knight Zirconia
Gem-Knight Zirconia
EARTH Rock ★8
ATK 2900 / DEF 2500
Burning Nova [R]
1 "Gem-Knight" monster + 1 Rock-Type monster

Its sole purpose is mainly to send Block Dragon from field to grave to allow Block Dragon's search effect. After that, you'll probably end up fusing this monster away for something else, so its stats and having no effect doesn't really matter.

Gem-Knight Amethyst
Gem-Knight Amethyst
EARTH Aqua ★7
ATK 1950 / DEF 2450
Burning Nova [R]
1 "Gem-Knight" monster + 1 Aqua-Type monster
Must first be Fusion Summoned. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: Return all Set Spell and Trap Cards on the field to the hand.

It's the only answer this deck has to dealing with your opponent's back row. It needs to be fused away for the effect to work, making it somewhat slow. But the deck can still continue its plays even if the monster you summoned after gets Floodgated.

Gem-Knight Aquamarine
Gem-Knight Aquamarine
EARTH Rock ★6
ATK 1400 / DEF 2600
Cybernetic Rebellion [R]
"Gem-Knight Sapphire" + 1 "Gem-Knight" monster
Must first be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Material Monsters. If this card attacks, it is changed to Defense Position at the end of the Battle Phase. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: Target 1 card your opponent controls; return that target to the hand.

Since Sapphire isn't even in the deck, the main way to summon this is by using Lady Brilliant. It's to help deal with certain things that can be difficult to deal with like an indestructible monster or Necrovalley.

Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder
Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder
DARK Winged Beast ★12
ATK 3000 / DEF 2000
Aerial Assault [R]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
If this card is Synchro Summoned using a "Blackwing" monster as Material, it is treated as a Tuner while face-up on the field. Cannot be destroyed by card effects. You can target 1 "Blackwing" monster in your Graveyard; this card's Level becomes the same as that monster's. You can only use this effect of "Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder" once per Duel. If this card that was Synchro Summoned using only Synchro Monsters attacks, this card gains 3000 ATK during the Damage Step only.

For when you have Raiden on the field and want to synchro away. Special summon Aquamarine to synchro into Onimaru to have a big beater on the field, as well as Aquamarine's return effect.

The OTK

You can Fusion Summon Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond, activate its effect by sending a face-up “Gem-Knight” monster to the Graveyard, Special Summon Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli, Special Summon Block Dragon, activate Lady Lapis Lazuli’s effect, inflict 1500 damage to your opponent by sending Gem-Knight Lazuli from your Deck to the Graveyard and add a “Gem-Knight” Normal Monster from your Graveyard to your hand.

Now you can banish a “Gem-Knight” monster from your Graveyard to add Gem-Knight Fusion back to your hand and then use Block Dragon and Lady Lapis Lazuli as Fusion Materials to Summon Gem-Knight Zirconia. Block Dragon will allow you to add Gem-Knight Lapis (Level 3), Gem-Knight Lazuli (Level 1) and a Level 4 “Gem-Knight” monster from your Deck to your hand. Add Gem-Knight Fusion back to your hand and Fusion Summon Gem-Knight Master Diamond using Lapis, Lazuli and another “Gem-Knight” monster, add Lapis back to your hand via Lazuli’s effect, activate Master Diamond’s effect, banish Lady Lapis Lazuli from your Graveyard, activate its effect by sending Lady Lapis Lazuli from your Extra Deck to the Graveyard and inflict 1500 more damage to your opponent.

Add Gem-Knight Fusion back to your hand, Fusion Summon Master Diamond, banish the Lady Lapis Lazuli you sent to the Graveyard via the effect of the first Master Diamond and finish off your opponent. Note that, if your opponent had any Special Summoned monster on their side of the field, you would have been able to inflict 4000 damage to them without even Summoning the second Master Diamond.

Block Dragon can be used as Fusion Material and generate more value when you send it to the Graveyard, replenishing your resources and extending your turn.

Yes, let it be. There are too few Extra Deck spaces and you need too many Normal Summons.
CarelessPotato
Obsidian can only activate it's effect when it's sent from the hand to the GY, not the field. So Lady Brilliant doesnt work on it.

It says "after" July 2019 Banlist, yet the only decklist on the page still has 2 Lapis Lazuli when it's limited at 1? :/

Still super powerful

It's been months since the banlist that hit Lazuli and this deck still hasn't been updated. Can someone please change that?

Will this deck still be good?

The FTK is still possible- Master Diamond still can pull it off as long as it’s at more than 1- but it’s a lot more inconsistent and needs more setup now

Is there no way for it to be good just for the fusions and not the whole FTK burn thing with grass looks greener? I thought it could finally have a chance with the new mini and upcoming main box support...

Gem Knight Beatdown is a playable deck, but compared to other beatdown decks it far more underwhelming and less competitive. The FTK is by far what they’re better at and known for
Anonymous
Spellbooks are WAY slower than this deck.
Spellbooks do almost the same in all turns, this deck does a lot of things just once.

Surprisingly consistent. Prepare to face this a lot

It’s still super expensive, so while it will pop up I don’t expect it to be widespread

I used the deck that is posted on before June, the 30 card balance, and FTK wasn't that strange, its more easy now with block dragon tho.
