Constellar: deck recipe [Aug 17]

Duel Links Constellar deck, Constellar in the current meta, how to use.
update 17/08/2021

Overview

Constellars are part of the "terllarknight" archetype, but this version of the deck focuses mostly on just the Constellars. They have some good swarming potential and have consistent ways to go into a rank 4 XYZ, but are not strong monsters on their own, making them only as good as how strong the rank 4 XYZs are.

How to Play

Constellar Monsters

Constellar Algiedi
Constellar Algiedi
LIGHT Spellcaster ★4
ATK 1600 / DEF 1400
Unknown Duelist Roaming Event [SR]
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 "Constellar" monster from your hand.

Pretty much the combo starter for this deck since it simply lets you go into a rank 4 XYZ if you have another monster you can summon. The only constellar monster in this deck that can be beneficial to summon to the field is Constellar Kaus. With Kaus' effect, you can go into either a rank 3 or 5 as well.

Constellar Pollux
Constellar Pollux
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 600
Infinite Ray [UR]
During the turn this card was Normal Summoned, you can Normal Summon 1 "Constellar" monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.)

Works similarly to Algiedi. The main difference is that it's an optional effect. This just means that you can normal summon first, then use Fire Formation - Tenki to search, and normal summon that monster.

However, the important thing to remember is that Pollux's effect is only for the turn it's normal summoned.

Constellar Sombre
Constellar Sombre
LIGHT Fairy ★4
ATK 1550 / DEF 1600
Infinite Ray [UR]
You can only use each effect of "Constellar Sombre" once per turn. While this card is in the Graveyard, if it was sent there this turn, you can Normal Summon 1 "Constellar" monster for 1 less Tribute. You can banish 1 "Constellar" monster from your Graveyard, then target 1 "Constellar" monster in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand, also, this card gains the following effect.
● This turn: You can activate this effect; Normal Summon 1 "Constellar" monster.

On the field, this card acts as a recovery for any of your Constellar monsters. The additional effect of allowing you to normal summon again also makes it similar to Algiedi and Pollux so you can go into a rank 4 right away.

The effect of being able to normal summon for 1 less tribute isn't useful at the moment since there aren't any lvl 5 or higher Constellar in this version of the deck.

Constellar Kaus
Constellar Kaus
LIGHT Beast-Warrior ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF 700
Infinite Ray [R]
Cannot be used as a Synchro Material. Up to twice per turn: You can target 1 "Constellar" monster on the field, then activate 1 of these effects;
● Increase its Level by 1.
● Reduce its Level by 1.

Ideally, this is the monster that you will want to summon with any of your other Constellar monsters. Using its effect allows you to go into a rank 3, 4, or 5. It's mainly good depending on what options you have for your XYZ monsters, but this effect can be kind of futureproof.

Block Attack

Sphere Kuriboh
Sphere Kuriboh
DARK Fiend ★1
ATK 300 / DEF 200
The Ultimate Rising [UR]
Selection Box Vol. 01 [UR]
When an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; change the attacking monster to Defense Position. When you Ritual Summon a monster, you can banish this card from your Graveyard as 1 of the monsters required for the Ritual Summon.
Kiteroid
Kiteroid
WIND Machine ★1
ATK 200 / DEF 400
Card Trader [SR]
Activate when you discard this card from your hand during damage calculation after a direct attack. Any Battle Damage you would receive from that direct attack becomes 0. Only once, if you remove this card from the game when it is in your Graveyard, any Battle Damage you would receive from a direct attack becomes 0.

Having an extra layer of LP protection helps to prevent OTK. The rank 4 XYZs are great at handling certain situations, but they don't have high ATK to survive many turns.

Sphere Kuriboh can help protect your monster from attacks, while Kiteroid is to protect your LP against direct attacks but can be used twice. Aside from the two, there's also Battlin Boxer Veil to help with going into a rank 4 XYZ.

Fire Formation - Tenki

Fire Formation - Tenki
Fire Formation - Tenki
Continuous Spell
Eternal Stream [SR]
When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Fire Formation - Tenki" per turn.

The only beast-warrior type monster this card can search in this version of the deck is Constellar Kaus. It comes with an attack boosting effect too, which will also boost Constellar Omega into a 2500 ATK. But using Omega's effect will make you unaffected by Tenki's effect.

Extra Decks

Number C39: Utopia Ray
Number C39: Utopia Ray
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [UR]
3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 39: Utopia" you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; it gains 500 ATK and 1 monster your opponent controls loses 1000 ATK, until the End Phase. You must have 1000 Life Points or less to activate and to resolve this effect.

Utopia Ray can be a pretty decent last hope card to win the duel. Because the deck has some handtraps like Sphere Kuriboh or Kiteroid, you can use them to control the damage that you take so you can survive and use Utopia Ray's effect.

Utopia Ray can be summoned normally since Constellars are all Light attribute, but the easier way to summon it is by summoning Utopia first, then into Utopia Ray.

Number 39: Utopia
Number 39: Utopia
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Shining Hope [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters
When any player's monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the attack. When this card is targeted for an attack, while it has no Xyz Materials: Destroy this card.

Since the meta of the game is getting pretty fast, you can't really turn 1 summon this and expect it to survive because of its effect. More often than not, you'll find that it's better to use Utopia mainly to go into Utopia Ray instead. Just keep in mind that Utopia Ray can only be used when your LP is 1000 or below, so there's no point in summoning them early.

Starliege Paladynamo
Starliege Paladynamo
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 1000
Selection Box Vol.04 [UR]
Darkness Gimmick [UR]
2 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card to target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes 0, and if it does, its effects are negated. When this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: Draw 1 card.

This gives an answer to the deck for when you are going against a monster with a high attack. The downside of this is that it's a targeting effect, which may not always work against some monsters.

Number 70: Malevolent Sin
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
DARK Insect ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3.

A removal effect without having to battle your opponent's monster helps make sure that your monster won't be destroyed by battle.

This effect also removes your opponent's XYZ materials when they return to the field. Works best when you banish monsters with effects that says they can't be special summoned.

Steelswarm Roach
Steelswarm Roach
DARK Fiend ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 0
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
During either player's turn, when a Level 5 or higher monster would be Special Summoned: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the Special Summon, and if you do, destroy it.

One of the better monsters to XYZ into if you get turn 1. Mainly good if you know what deck you're going against since its effect to negate a summon is somewhat tricky.

Constellar Omega
Constellar Omega
LIGHT Beast-Warrior ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 500
Infinite Ray [R]
2 Level 4 LIGHT monsters
Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; all "Constellar" monsters you currently control are unaffected by Spell/Trap effects this turn.

Essentially a Forbidden Lance on all of your Constellar monsters. It only lasts for a turn, but it's good to ensure that your attacks are likely to go through.

Constellar monsters negated by a Fiendish Chain will also be unaffected for the turn, allowing you to activate their effect or attack.

Constellar Praesepe
Constellar Praesepe
LIGHT Machine ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 800
Infinite Ray [N]
2 Level 4 "Constellar" monsters
Once per turn, during the Damage Step of either player's turn, when a "Constellar" monster you control is attacking or being attacked: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; that monster gains 1000 ATK, until the End Phase.

A pretty good ATK boosting effect that activates in the damage step that can catch players off guard if they don't read it. Having this card also means that your highest ATK monster is about 3400.

Other Cards Option

Constellar Siat

Constellar Siat
Constellar Siat
LIGHT Fairy ★1
ATK 100 / DEF 1600
Infinite Ray [N]
If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn: You can target 1 "Constellar" monster you control or in your Graveyard; this card's Level becomes the current Level of that monster. This card cannot be used as an Xyz Material, except for the Xyz Summon of a "Constellar" monster.

Somewhat restrictive compared to the other Constellar monsters, but it's a special summon so it can be worth putting if you are lacking some of the cards.

Since you can copy a level from the field or grave, you have a pretty good chance of being able to use it most of the time. All of the Constellars in this version of the deck are level 4 too, so it makes it easier to go into rank 4.

Other Extra Decks

Constellar Ptolemy M7
Constellar Ptolemy M7
LIGHT Machine ★6
ATK 2700 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [UR]
2 Level 6 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Constellar" Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material, other than "Constellar Ptolemy M7". (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If Summoned this way, the following effect cannot be activated this turn. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster on the field or in either player's Graveyard; return that target to the hand.

Since there aren't any level 6 monsters in this version of the deck, the main way you can summon Ptolemy M7 is by using a lower rank constellar XYZ, but doing this will make it so you can't use its effect right away.

It's a pretty big drawback, but its effect is valuable if you have some protection to help it survive for a turn.

Suggested replacement for cards I don't have? I don't have Book of Money, Lance, Tenki, Breakthrough, Sphere, regular Utopia, and Paladynamo.

Constellar vs Satellarknight
Constellar can go into M7 without needing to rank up, Constelllar also have more ways to reliably get out 2 monsters (if you have 2), and has more non-destruction removal
Satellarknight, More consistent with (technically) 2 in deck searchers, better comeback potential with floating effects and Altair becoming a 1 card delteros, also an omni-negate

constellars without pleiades aee pretty tra sh tbh
