Spirit Grasp The following effects can be used once per Duel. ● Send 1 Level 8 DARK monster from your hand to the Graveyard. Then, draw 1 card. ● Can be used before your normal draw if you have at least 3 monsters in your Graveyard. Instead of conducting your normal draw, add 1 Level 5 or higher monster to your hand from your Graveyard. Then, select up to 3 Fiend-Type monsters in your Graveyard and banish them. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck (excluding Extra Deck) that contains at least 1 "Dark Necrofear" and no monsters other than Fiend-Type or Zombie-Type monsters. | Bakura (DSOD) |
Curse Necrofear | DARK Fiend ★8 ATK 2800 / DEF 2200 |
Energy of Gigarays [UR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned by a card effect. You can target 3 of your banished Fiend monsters; Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, shuffle those banished monsters into the Deck. During the End Phase, if this card is in the GY because it was destroyed in your Monster Zone by an opponent's card and sent there this turn: Special Summon this card from your GY, then, you can destroy cards your opponent controls, up to the number of face-up Spells/Traps you control with different names. You can only use each effect of "Curse Necrofear" once per turn. |
Curse Necrofear's can allows you to recycle 3 Banished Dark World monsters to your Deck while he is special summoned by his first effect.
His second effect will let you destroy at least 1 card of your opponent controls while you have "The Gate of Dark World" Field Spell or even "Dark Necrofear" as equip card on your field.
Dark Necrofear | DARK Fiend ★8 ATK 2200 / DEF 2800 |
Yami Bakura [UR] Yami Bakura Starter Deck [UR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 3 Fiend-Type monsters from your Graveyard. During the End Phase, if this card is in the Graveyard because it was destroyed by an opponent's card this turn (by battle or card effect) and sent to your Graveyard while it was a Monster Card under your control: Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; equip this card to that target. While this card is equipped to a monster by this effect, take control of that monster. |
You can special summon Necrofear from your hand by banishing 3 Dark World Monsters from your Graveyard. His second effect will allows you to take control 1 of your opponent's Face-Up monster by equip this card to that monster while Necrofear is destroyed by an opponent's card and sent to your Graveyard that turn.
Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World | DARK Dragon ★8 ATK 2700 / DEF 1800 |
Eternal Stream [UR] | |
You can Special Summon this card (from your Graveyard) by returning 1 "Dark World" monster you control to the hand, except "Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World". If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: Target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy that target, then, if this card was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect, look at 1 random card in your opponent's hand, then, if it was a monster, you can Special Summon it to your side of the field. |
Discard Grapha to make use of its targeted removal effect. Then Grapha can revive itself by returning a Dark World monster to the hand; a low-Leveled Dark World monster you can Normal Summon would be most cost efficient for this. So in one easy combo you destroyed an enemy card and got a strong beater on board for minimal cost; this powerful combo is why turbo-ing out Grapha is Dark World's best strategy.
Snoww, Unlight of Dark World | DARK Fiend ★4 ATK 1700 / DEF 0 |
Primal Burst [UR] | |
If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: If it was discarded from your hand to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect, you can target 1 monster in your opponent's Graveyard; add 1 "Dark World" card from your Deck to your hand, then Special Summon that target (if any) in face-up Defense Position. |
Always prioritize searching Grapha. If you already have Grapha then search something that can discard Grapha, like Gates of the Dark World. Lastly, you might need to fetch a low-Level Dark World monster for reviving Grapha.
Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World | DARK Fiend ★4 ATK 1600 / DEF 1300 |
Primal Burst [R] Eternal Stream [R]
If this card is discarded to the Graveyard by a card effect: Special Summon it from the Graveyard. |
Run Beiige to have some more Normal Summonable monsters you can use to revive Grapha. Beiige revives also itself when discarded, which is another way you could swarm the field. After that, you can Xyz Summon or Synchro Summon a monster with Raven.
Fabled Raven | LIGHT Fiend ★2 ATK 1300 / DEF 1000 |
Revolution Beginning [SR]
Once per turn: You can discard any number of cards, and if you do, this card gains 1 Level and 400 ATK for each discarded card, until the end of this turn. |
Similar to Trance Archfiend's effect but no limited Monster Type for discard options. Since Fabled Raven can discard any number of cards to increase a Level per card, you can perform Xyz Summon or Synchro Summon based on the situation and number of the card you have discarded.
The Gates of Dark World | Field Spell |
Gaia Genesis [UR] | |
All Fiend-Type monsters gain 300 ATK and DEF. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Fiend-Type monster from your Graveyard; discard 1 Fiend-Type monster, then draw 1 card. |
The Gates of the Dark World is the archetype's Field Spell that allows you to banish a Fiend in your graveyard to draw and then discard a card from your hand. It also gives all your Fiend monsters a small 300 attack boost which puts Grapha at a respectable 3000 ATK.
The monster banished by The Gates of the Dark World can later be recovered by Curse Necrofear.
Dark World Dealings | Normal Spell |
Valiant Souls [UR] | |
Each player draws 1 card, then each player discards 1 card. |
Dark World Dealings allows you to draw a card and then discard a card for triggering Dark World Monsters' effect.
Call of the Archfiend | Continuous Trap |
Abyss Encounter [SR] | |
You can target 1 Level 5 or higher Fiend monster in your GY; discard 1 Fiend monster, and if you do, Special Summon the targeted monster. You can only use this effect of "Call of the Archfiend" once per turn. |
A trap that can special summon a level 5 or higher fiend monster from the graveyard. The Discard Effect will allows you to trigger Dark World Monsters' effect. Mostly used to special summon Curse or Dark Necrofear then setup into Xyz Summoning Rank 8 Monster with Grapha.
Dark Smog | Continuous Trap |
Primal Burst [R] | |
Once per turn: You can target 1 monster in your opponent's Graveyard; discard 1 Fiend-Type monster, and if you do, banish that target. |
Graveyard disruption is very effective against Decks that recycle or card activation from the graveyard like The Phantom Knights. You can even use Dark Smog in response to something that targets a card in the graveyard, banish that target to waste your opponent's recovery. Then the discard effect is generally good for activating your Dark World monsters' effects.
Black Rose Dragon | FIRE Dragon ★7 ATK 2400 / DEF 1800 |
Blazing Rose [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can destroy all cards on the field. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Plant-Type monster from your Graveyard, then target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; change that target to face-up Attack Position, and if you do, its ATK becomes 0 until the end of this turn. |
Special Summon Black Rose Dragon to get rid of your opponent's entire field setup.
Coral Dragon | WATER Dragon ★6 ATK 2400 / DEF 500 |
Master Pack [SR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn: You can discard 1 card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it. If this Synchro Summoned card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Coral Dragon" once per turn. |
Summon Coral Dragon by using Raven and a Level-4 Dark World monster both on the field as material. It has a decent removal effect by discarding 1 Card from your hand which also generally good for activating your Dark World monsters' effects.
When Coral Dragon leaves the field you get to draw a card; this is good for refunding the resource cost of making it.
PSY-Framelord Zeta | LIGHT Psychic ★7 ATK 2500 / DEF 1800 |
Future Horizon [R] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls in face-up Attack Position; banish both that monster and this card from the field, but return them in your next Standby Phase. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can target 1 other "PSY-Frame" card in your Graveyard; return this card to the Extra Deck, and if you do, add that target to your hand. |
Zeta's effect can be used again and again after it comes back to effectively serve as non-destruction removal until you get a proper out to the enemy monster. The removal also has an anti-Xyz utilty to it, because Xyz monsters banished by this lose all their materials.
Samurai Destroyer | EARTH Machine ★7 ATK 2600 / DEF 1400 |
Dark Dimension [R] Fantastic Arc [R]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters If this card battles an opponent's monster, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step, also that opponent's monster has its effects negated during the Battle Phase only. If this face-up card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can target 1 Machine monster in your GY; Special Summon it. |
Summon Samurai Destroyer as an offensive option. He prevents your opponent from activating effects when he battles, stopping battle traps and disruption like Sphere Kuriboh and Kiteroid, letting all of Samurai Destroyer's attacks go through.
Monsters battling Samurai Destroyer have their effects negated. This makes Samurai Destroyer a good way to get rid of monsters without triggering their floating effects. You can also attack into monsters and ignore their self ATK boosts.
Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis | LIGHT Dragon ★8 ATK 3000 / DEF 2500 |
Infinite Ray [UR] | |
2 Level 8 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Tribute any number of monsters from your hand and/or your side of the field (minimum 1), then destroy an equal number of cards on the field. |
Grapha is very easy to summon after you get it in your graveyard, and if you manage to get two Grapha on the field you can make Heliopolis. And after detaching Grapha, you can revive it just as easily. This card has a powerful multi-card removal effect which can potentially wipe out the enemy field especially Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror which will shut down whole Deck.
Number 22: Zombiestein | DARK Zombie ★8 ATK 4500 / DEF 1000 |
Darkness Gimmick [SR] | |
2 Level 8 DARK monsters Must be Xyz Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; change this card to Defense Position, and if you do, negate that face-up card's effect until the End Phase. |
A pretty good optional card to use as a rank 8 XYZ. 4500 ATK is high enough to one shot your opponent, making it a great comeback card from your opponent controlling 2 monsters to a win for you in a turn.
The negate effect is pretty strong since it's a quick effect and can negate any face-up card, but switching it to DEF with only 1000 can make it difficult to survive.
Number 70: Malevolent Sin | DARK Insect ★4 ATK 2400 / DEF 1200 |
Photons of Galaxy [SR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3. |
Works well against opponents that only have 1 monster on the field. Even better if it's an XYZ monster since it will remove all their materials, or if it's a monster that says that it can't be special summoned in the card text.
