“Scrap” is an archetype of EARTH monsters whose effects primarily focus on destroying one another, setting up the Graveyard and triggering various effects. Thanks to Scrap Factory, their Field Spell, whenever a “Scrap” monster is destroyed by a card effect, you can Special Summon another one directly from your Deck, making up for one of their main drawbacks. The main goal of this deck is to Summon Scrap Twin Dragon, a Level 9 Synchro Monster with the ability to return cards your opponent controls to their hand.
When Scrap Chimera is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon a "Scrap" Tuner monster from your Graveyard. Special Summon Scrap Goblin, Beast or Orthros via this effect, change their Level to 5 with Level Duplication and Synchro Summon Scrap Twin Dragon. If Scrap Orthros was not Special Summoned properly, you will not be able to target it with Scrap Chimera (or Scrap Golem)’s effect.
Once per turn, Scrap Golem allows you to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower “Scrap” monster from your Graveyard to either side of the field. This effect does have synergy with Scrap Searcher since, when it's Special Summoned, it destroys all non-“Scrap” monsters on the field, but most of the times you are just going to use it to Special Summon Scrap Beast or Scrap Orthros to your side of the field to Synchro Summon Scrap Twin Dragon.
Scrap Orthros is a Level 4 Tuner that can only be Special Summoned from your hand when you control a “Scrap” monster. If you Special Summon Scrap Orthros via its own effect, you have to destroy a “Scrap” monster you control. You want to Special Summon Scrap Orthros while Scrap Factory is active, so you will be able to Special Summon Scrap Golem from your Deck and Synchro Summon Scrap Twin Dragon.
If Scrap Orthros is destroyed by the effect of a “Scrap” card, including itself, it allows you to add a “Scrap” monster with a different name from your Graveyard to your hand. Target Scrap Orthros with its own effect, chain Scrapstorm to it and send a “Scrap” monster you want to add to your hand to the Graveyard. Scrap Orthros will be destroyed after the monster has been sent to the Graveyard, so you will get to add it to your hand.
Scrapstorm allows you to target a “Scrap” monster you control, send a “Scrap” monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, draw a card and then destroy the monster you targeted. Since it’s a Quick-Play Spell, you can activate Scrapstorm when a “Scrap” monster you control is going to be destroyed by its own effect or by the effect of another card to get value out of it.
You can activate multiple copies Scrapstorm at once by targeting the same monster, you will still get their effects off, even if the monster has already left the field because the first card that resolved completely has destroyed it.
Once per turn, by destroying a card you control, Scrap Twin Dragon allows you to return two cards your opponent controls to their hand. If you destroy a “Scrap” monster while Scrap Factory is face-up on your side of the field, you will immediately get to Special Summon another “Scrap” monster from your Deck, which will make it extremely easy to OTK your opponent. If you don’t control any other card, you can destroy Scrap Twin Dragon to activate its effect.
If Scrap Twin Dragon is destroyed by your opponent, you get to Special Summon a non-Synchro “Scrap” monster from your Graveyard. If you used Scrap Golem and Scrap Beast
Atomic Scrap Dragon is a Level 10 Synchro that requires a “Scrap” Tuner and two or more non-Tuner monsters in order to be Special Summoned, it takes a lot its resources and the card doesn't bring exactly that much to the table.
Atomic Scrap Dragon has 3200 ATK, which is great because it allows him to get over an Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon under Scrap Factory, and, if it's destroyed by battle or by a card effect, it allows you Special Summon a “Scrap” monster from the Graveyard.
Once per turn, Atomic Scrap Dragon can select a monster you control and up to three cards in the opponent's Graveyard, destroy the monster and then shuffle the opponent's cards back into the deck. Shuffle back into the Deck Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys or Cerulean Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys to prevent your opponent from Summoning them.
Level Duplication Reveal 1 monster in your hand, then target 1 face-up monster on your side of the field; that target's level becomes equalt to the Level of the revealed monster. This skill can be used once per Duel.
This Skill gives you a lot more flexibility when it comes to Synchro Summoning, the only issue is that you can only activate it once per Duel. Normal Summon Chimera, Special Summon Beast or Orthros and then change the Level of one of your monsters to 5 using Scrap Golem to Synchro Summon Scrap Twin Dragon.
There isn't enough space for cards such as Paleozoic Canadia or Sphere Kuriboh that could provide protection; adding Battle Trap and/or Hand Traps would likely end up greatly lowering the consistency of deck.
Just made it to KOG with scraps. Let me just say, scraps are tricky to play with but don’t underestimate them in Duel Links. They are very fast & have amazing recursion. I don’t want to give away my deck but here’s a few tips.
1) Run as many Chimera & Scrapstorm as you can along with 1 Soldier. Send soldier to the GY using storm. Then all your Chimeras become Junk snychron for Twin Dragon
2) Run The Tricky (I run 3) to make an easy Twin with Beast (2 is best) or Orthos (1). Tricky also works around bricks, sets up GY, & is essential for Synchro spamming.
3) Every other scrap monster can either be excluded or run at ONE. Multiple Golems/Orthos will brick.
4) Green Baboon combos well with this deck=quick easy games especially vs Shien.
5) Understand the timing of card activations
All in all, this has become my favorite deck to play & it’s disappointing to hear so many people complain about them. Don’t give up on Scraps.
They are trash but not garbage.
Okay, I got an idea to try King's Consonance from the new Jack Atlas event since scraps got good graveyard setup and I'll see how it goes. Though I was using Treacherous Trap Hole before and without that my deck doesn't have too much removal.
My problem was relying heavily on the field spell so I decided to go a different direction.
I use Jessie's Transcendent Crystals skill to dump scraps in the grave plus the crystal beasts in the spell/trap zone are great targets for Scrap Twin to destroy. Gives you a lot more room in the deck for other cards. I'm still working on the consistency but the deck thinning and draw power of crystal beasts is amazing for scraps.
If you already work out the consistency, please show us the decklist, Scrap Crystal sounds like an interesting idea.
Feels...Incomplete. I put it in the pile with the Reptillane and Morphtronic decks: great concept and decent execution so far, but lacks cards that put the deck together. In this case, its the fact that there aren't any other synchro monsters other then Scrap Dragon, which is a decent creature stat-wise, but for how costly it is, It feels underwhelming. Hoping more cards get released in future packs.
There are tons of archetypes, from Aquactress to Aromage, that are great concepts, but there is literally zero support for them. You can tell a archetype is missing something when the guide suggest "stick Stardust in it and call it a day" as it is for every half decent deck.
The big problem is konami refuses to nerf anything, so the "okay" decks just stay there untouched.
The optimal turn 1 against most decks (except Yubel and Six Samurai) would be Shark/Goblin + Factory or Goblin + Scrapstorm. Spell Specialist is recommended to increase your chance of opening with Factory / Scrapstorm (btw you only need 1 Scrapstorm, Factory is the main core which you should run at least 2 copies). You need at least one Scrap Searcher, it works great for both defense (special summon itself from GY each time Scrap monster is destroyed by card effect) and offense (use Golem effect to special summon Searcher to your opponent's field to destroy all his other face-up monster). For the rest of Scrap monsters (Beast, Ochtros, Chimera) you don't need more than one copy of each
Turn 1 set Goblin is great since Goblin cannot be destroyed by battle. But it will destroy itself in the end phase so should already have face-up Factory or activate your set Scrapstorm in the end phase to help you prepare the next combo
Yes, Scrap Factory is pretty much necessary if you want to play an even remotely competitive version of the deck.
However, I would not advise investing in Warriors Unite for this specific archetype as its performance is overall underwhelming when you compare it to its cost.
Jokes on you, I bricked and I had no follow-up anyway
I was really hoping this would be a sort of hidden gem like karakuri in the junk destroyer box, but I can honestly say after test playin this and a couple different builds this archetype is crap. It’s way to expensive to be this bad plus it’s in a box with a monster who can negate the very field spell to even get the deck started. Honestly wtf Konami now I have to use shi-en since I wasted so much money on this box hoping something else would be good.
Shi En kills basically any combo deck in the game right now. It's also not going anywhere because it's a mainbox UR and there are about a hundred different ways to summon it. Good luck nerfing this one Konami.
