Scrap Synchro: deck recipe [Mar 2021]

Duel Links Scrap Synchro deck, Scrap Synchro in the current meta, how to use.
update 16/03/2021

Overview

“Scrap” is an archetype of EARTH monsters whose effects primarily focus on destroying one another, setting up the Graveyard and triggering various effects. Thanks to Scrap Factory, their Field Spell, whenever a “Scrap” monster is destroyed by a card effect, you can Special Summon another one directly from your Deck, making up for one of their main drawbacks.
The main goal of this deck is to Summon Scrap Twin Dragon, a Level 9 Synchro Monster with the ability to return cards your opponent controls to their hand.

How to Use

Scrap Tuners

Scrap Beast
Scrap Beast
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 1600 / DEF 1300
Warriors Unite [SR]
If this face-up Defense Position card is targeted for an attack, at the end of the Battle Phase: Destroy this card. If this card is destroyed by the effect of a "Scrap" card and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard, except "Scrap Beast"; add that target to your hand.

Use Scrap Beast for what it is, a Level-4 Tuner. Pair Beast with Chimera to make Scrap Dragon. You can also make use of Scrap Beast's floating effect by destroying it with Scrap Storm.

Scrap Orthros
Scrap Orthros
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 1100
Power of Bravery [R]
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by controlling a face-up "Scrap" monster. When Special Summoned this way, select 1 face-up "Scrap" monster you control, and destroy it. If this card is destroyed by the effect of a "Scrap" card and sent to the Graveyard, you can select 1 "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard, except "Scrap Orthros", and add it to your hand.

Scrap Orthros is a Level 4 Tuner that can only be Special Summoned from your hand when you control a “Scrap” monster. If you Special Summon Scrap Orthros via its own effect, you have to destroy a “Scrap” monster you control. You want to Special Summon Scrap Orthros while Scrap Factory is active, so you will be able to Special Summon Scrap Golem from your Deck and Synchro Summon Scrap Twin Dragon.

If Scrap Orthros is destroyed by the effect of a “Scrap” card, including itself, it allows you to add a “Scrap” monster with a different name from your Graveyard to your hand. Target Scrap Orthros with its own effect, chain Scrapstorm to it and send a “Scrap” monster you want to add to your hand to the Graveyard. Scrap Orthros will be destroyed after the monster has been sent to the Graveyard, so you will get to add it to your hand.

Scrap Goblin
Scrap Goblin
EARTH Beast-Warrior ★3
ATK 0 / DEF 500
Warriors Unite [R]
This card cannot be destroyed by battle. If this face-up Defense Position card is selected as an attack target, destroy this card at the end of the Battle Phase. If this card is destroyed by the effect of a "Scrap" card and sent to the Graveyard, you can select 1 "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard, except "Scrap Goblin" and add it to your hand.

Goblin has the same effect as Beast, but has a Level better suited for pairing with Golem to make Scrap Dragon.

Scrap Chimera

Scrap Chimera
Scrap Chimera
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 500
Power of Bravery [SR]
This card cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster, except for the Synchro Summon of a "Scrap" monster and all the other Synchro Material Monsters must also be "Scrap" monsters. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can select 1 "Scrap" Tuner monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it.

When Scrap Chimera is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon a "Scrap" Tuner monster from your Graveyard. Special Summon Scrap Goblin, Beast or Orthros via this effect, change their Level to 5 with Level Duplication and Synchro Summon Scrap Twin Dragon. If Scrap Orthros was not Special Summoned properly, you will not be able to target it with Scrap Chimera's (or Scrap Golem's) effect.

Scrap Golem

Scrap Golem
Scrap Golem
EARTH Rock ★5
ATK 2300 / DEF 1400
Power of Bravery [R]
Warriors Unite [R]
Once per turn, you can select 1 Level 4 or lower "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it to either player's side of the field.

Once per turn, Scrap Golem allows you to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower “Scrap” monster from your Graveyard to either side of the field. This effect does have synergy with Scrap Searcher since, when it's Special Summoned, it destroys all non-“Scrap” monsters on the field, but most of the times you are just going to use it to Special Summon Scrap Beast or Scrap Orthros to your side of the field to Synchro Summon Scrap Twin Dragon. And depending on how you want to remove the opponent's card, you may opt to summon Goblin instead and make Scrap Dragon.

Scrap Searcher

Scrap Searcher
Scrap Searcher
EARTH Winged Beast ★1
ATK 100 / DEF 300
Power of Bravery [N]
Warriors Unite [N]
When a "Scrap" monster you control, except "Scrap Searcher", is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard while this card is in the Graveyard, you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. When this card is Special Summoned, destroy all face-up monsters you control, except "Scrap" monsters.

Run one copy of Searcher for its fun interaction with Golem. The idea is to Special Summon Searcher to your opponent's field for a monster wipe. Special Summon it in attack position to deal damage through its low ATK.

Scrap Factory

Scrap Factory
Scrap Factory
Field Spell
Warriors Unite [UR]
All "Scrap" monsters gain 200 ATK and DEF. When a face-up "Scrap" monster(s) on the field is destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon 1 "Scrap" monster from your Deck. You can only use this effect of "Scrap Factory" once per turn.

Since Scrap monsters are often destroyed by your own effects, Scrap Factory can over a couple of turns net you a lot of resources summoned directly from the Deck. The best thing to Special Summon is usually Golem which will enable a Synchro play.

Scrap Support

Scrapyard
Scrapyard
Normal Spell
Arena of Sanctuary [SR]
Add 1 "Scrap" Tuner monster from your Deck to your hand.

Scrapyard boosts your consistency by fetching any one of your Tuners. The Deck has a lot of Tuners so you have a lot of options to choose from, depending on the situation and what you want to make.

Scrapstorm
Scrapstorm
Normal Spell
[SR]
Target 1 "Scrap" monster you control; send 1 "Scrap" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, then draw 1 card, then destroy that monster.

Scrapstorm is a good draw/mill engine. First it gives you a draw and a mill, then it destroys a Scrap monster triggering its graveyard recovery effect. The mill effect is good because it puts Scrap monsters in the graveyard where they can be recovered. If Scrap Factory is present, this one activated card will net you a ton of resource gain.

The Extra Deck

Scrap Twin Dragon
Scrap Twin Dragon
EARTH Dragon ★9
ATK 3000 / DEF 2200
Warriors Unite [UR]
1 "Scrap" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, you can select 1 card you control and 2 cards your opponent controls. Destroy the one you control and return the two your opponent controls to the hand. When this card is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to the Graveyard, select 1 non-Synchro "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard, and Special Summon it.

Once per turn, by destroying a card you control, Scrap Twin Dragon allows you to return two cards your opponent controls to their hand. If you destroy a “Scrap” monster while Scrap Factory is face-up on your side of the field, you will immediately get to Special Summon another “Scrap” monster from your Deck, which will make it extremely easy to OTK your opponent. If you don’t control any other card, you can destroy Scrap Twin Dragon to activate its effect.

If Scrap Twin Dragon is destroyed by your opponent, you get to Special Summon a non-Synchro “Scrap” monster from your Graveyard. If you used Scrap Golem and Scrap Beast

Vermillion Dragon Mech
Vermillion Dragon Mech
FIRE Machine ★9
ATK 2700 / DEF 1800
Blazing Rose [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn: You can banish 1 Tuner from your hand, field, or Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it. If this Synchro Summoned card is destroyed by card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 of your banished Tuners; add it to your hand.

Vermillion Dragon Mech is another Level-9 Synchro option if you don't want to make Scrap Twin Dragon, probably for a cheaper removal effect. The Deck has a ton of Tuners and by the time you summon Vermillion Dragon Mech you should already have a couple in the graveyard. These will be used as cost, instead of destroying cards on your field like how Scrap Synchros would.

Scrap Dragon
Scrap Dragon
EARTH Dragon ★8
ATK 2800 / DEF 2000
Valhalla Calling [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn: You can target 1 card you control and 1 card your opponent controls; destroy them. When this card is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to the Graveyard: Target 1 non-Synchro "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.

Scrap Dragon is already powerful generic Synchro monster used in Decks outside of its archetype. But in this Deck it functions even better because destroying your own monsters will trigger useful effects.

Diamond Dire Wolf
Diamond Dire Wolf
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 1200
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them.

In this Deck, Diamond Dire Wolf can kinda be treated as a weaker Xyz version of Scrap Dragon. Because many of your monsters are Beasts, Beast-Warriors, and Winged Beasts, they can be destroyed by Dire Wolf. This will help activate effects while destroying enemy cards, similar to Scrap Dragon's method.

Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon
Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon
LIGHT Dragon ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 2000
Infinite Ray [SR]
3 Level 4 monstersOnce per turn, you can activate 1 of these effects.
● Detach 3 Xyz Materials from this card; destroy all other face-up monsters on the field.
● Detach 5 Xyz Materials from this card; destroy all cards your opponent controls.

Thunder Spark Dragon is summoned to monster wipe your opponent. You'll also destroy your monsters by using this effect, but that isn't much of a demerit with this Deck.

Other Extra Decks

Old Entity Hastorr
Old Entity Hastorr
WIND Reptile ★4
ATK 2300 / DEF 1000
Masters of Shadow [SR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
If this card is sent from the Monster Zone to the Graveyard: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; equip this card from your Graveyard to that monster. That monster cannot attack, also its effects are negated. If this card leaves the field while equipped to an opponent's monster by this effect: Take control of the monster this card was equipped to.
Atomic Scrap Dragon
Atomic Scrap Dragon
EARTH Dragon ★10
ATK 3200 / DEF 2400
Power of Bravery [R]
1 "Scrap" Tuner + 2 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, you can select 1 card you control and up to 3 cards in your opponent's Graveyard. Destroy your selected card and return the opponent's cards to the Deck. When this card is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to the Graveyard, select 1 non-Synchro "Scrap" monster from your Graveyard, and Special Summon it.
Cloudcastle
Cloudcastle
WIND Machine ★9
ATK 0 / DEF 3000
Blazing Rose [N]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target 1 Level 9 monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. Level 8 or lower monsters cannot attack the turn they are Normal or Special Summoned.

The only problem I have with this deck is, it is too expensive yet give a little advantage

Like most rogue decks, you mean? People´d play them more often if they weren´t so expensive to build. Just look at Dark World, Inzektors or more recently Evil HERO.

But that´s Konami for ya. Like Cartman from South Park said once, "nothing fun ever costs less than 8$"

My problem was relying heavily on the field spell so I decided to go a different direction.

I use Jessie's Transcendent Crystals skill to dump scraps in the grave plus the crystal beasts in the spell/trap zone are great targets for Scrap Twin to destroy. Gives you a lot more room in the deck for other cards. I'm still working on the consistency but the deck thinning and draw power of crystal beasts is amazing for scraps.

You can play like tcg, focu scrap twin dragon, also you need to defend your scraps, you have good draw power.

If you already work out the consistency, please show us the decklist, Scrap Crystal sounds like an interesting idea.

If there is anybody here who follows The SCP Foundation Wiki, this whole Archetype reminds me of The Broken God or SCP-001.
Scrap KOG
Just made it to KOG with scraps. Let me just say, scraps are tricky to play with but don’t underestimate them in Duel Links. They are very fast & have amazing recursion. I don’t want to give away my deck but here’s a few tips.

1) Run as many Chimera & Scrapstorm as you can along with 1 Soldier. Send soldier to the GY using storm. Then all your Chimeras become Junk snychron for Twin Dragon

2) Run The Tricky (I run 3) to make an easy Twin with Beast (2 is best) or Orthos (1). Tricky also works around bricks, sets up GY, & is essential for Synchro spamming.

3) Every other scrap monster can either be excluded or run at ONE. Multiple Golems/Orthos will brick.

4) Green Baboon combos well with this deck=quick easy games especially vs Shien.

5) Understand the timing of card activations

All in all, this has become my favorite deck to play & it’s disappointing to hear so many people complain about them. Don’t give up on Scraps.
They are trash but not garbage.

I run a pure scrap deck and I'll tell you this. If you are new to the deck no matter what build u make duel some of the auto ppl before jumping into rank duels. I think alot of ppl jumped right in and got crushed and gave up on them. Its really fun and super competitive deck when you get it down

I agree 100% I just got my first copy of Scrap Dragon and have 3 of pretty much everything else you need for a decent to great deck I’m not sure if I should go for a second SDragon tho it probably would make synchro summoning so much easier after Dragon gets destroyed even tho u can add him back with most scrap lv4 and lowers I might test the tricky and see if it helps with Scrap Soldier bricks

Can you update your list now that we have the final missing card (scrapyard) ? thanks

The optimal turn 1 against most decks (except Yubel and Six Samurai) would be Shark/Goblin + Factory or Goblin + Scrapstorm. Spell Specialist is recommended to increase your chance of opening with Factory / Scrapstorm (btw you only need 1 Scrapstorm, Factory is the main core which you should run at least 2 copies). You need at least one Scrap Searcher, it works great for both defense (special summon itself from GY each time Scrap monster is destroyed by card effect) and offense (use Golem effect to special summon Searcher to your opponent's field to destroy all his other face-up monster). For the rest of Scrap monsters (Beast, Ochtros, Chimera) you don't need more than one copy of each

Turn 1 set Goblin is great since Goblin cannot be destroyed by battle. But it will destroy itself in the end phase so should already have face-up Factory or activate your set Scrapstorm in the end phase to help you prepare the next combo

It takes two turns if you set it. It has to be face-up when it's initially attacked to activate. Good stall card for sure.

Just watched Dkayed's Scrap deck on youtube, he ran 3 Factory, 3 Scrapstorm, 3 Chimera, 3 Shark, 3 Goblin, 2 Golem, 1 Beast, 1 Soldier, 1 Orthros. Skill : Switcheroo

I was really hoping this would be a sort of hidden gem like karakuri in the junk destroyer box, but I can honestly say after test playin this and a couple different builds this archetype is crap. It’s way to expensive to be this bad plus it’s in a box with a monster who can negate the very field spell to even get the deck started. Honestly wtf Konami now I have to use shi-en since I wasted so much money on this box hoping something else would be good.

Shi En kills basically any combo deck in the game right now. It's also not going anywhere because it's a mainbox UR and there are about a hundred different ways to summon it. Good luck nerfing this one Konami.

I have to agree: this felt incredibly underwhelming while testing. I have no idea what they could release to make this more viable. Maybe a new Skill?

Is it worth it to buy the new box for the other scrap cards???
<< Anonymous
ValleCula Reply
Yes, Scrap Factory is pretty much necessary if you want to play an even remotely competitive version of the deck.
However, I would not advise investing in Warriors Unite for this specific archetype as its performance is overall underwhelming when you compare it to its cost.
Anonymous
This archetype could become meta with the new box, two headed scrap is a very powerful card on its own
