  • It can target any card on the field even your opponent's back row.
  • You can tribute a monster with effect unlike Order to Charge.
  • It lets you draw a card.
  • It has a good synergy with Deepsea Macrotrema.

Cons

  • You have to tribute a monster in order to use its effect.
  • Only Fish-Type monsters can be tributed.

Tips, related cards, skills

  • It's best used defensively when your opponent is about to attack with their monster, instead of using this to blindly target their spell/trap cards, which could be cards like Wild Tornado, or Security Orb.
  • Make sure to also watch for your opponent's monster effects too, cards like Vanguard of the Dragon will benefit from being destroyed by card effects.

Hammer Shark

Since Hammer Shark can special summon another monster, you can use the other monster to be tributed so it will not leave you defenseless, and will give you an extra draw as well.

Needle Sunfish

Needle Sunfish's effect will activate when it gets sent to the graveyard, making it one of the better cards to use Fish Depth Charge with. It's better to not activate Fish Depth Charge to destroy your opponent's monster if they only have 1 monster on the field, because this will waste Needle Sunfish's effect.

There's ZERO good fish deck right now.

It doesn't matter that this card is a better Ballista Squad if the rest of the deck is bad. Just having Ballista Squad with draw effect alone doesn't win you games.

Some of the Territory of the Sharks use a few fish types. It's not a meta deck but it's quite decent. But that's probably the only deck that can actually use this card and reach KoG.

Can this card negate monster effects too? I summoned gandorlorf and he got fish depth charged and then his effect did not activate.

The point is that water decks rarely carry enough normal monsters to make good use of otc, so this is a welcome variation on the idea that should work rather well with water decks, especially since it is easy to swarm the field with weak effect monsters.

You guys realize this steroided fish to charge is leagues better than the small guppy order to charge. Sure the tribute window is smaller ( fish vs normal monsters) but this can destroy any card AND draw cards

I have seen several top tier Water Deck builds.
I think most of them have subtle differences based on personal preference.

I haven't found any thing to lead me to believe 1 build is better than the next to be honest.

For example:
I saw some running:
3 hammer head, 2 yomis, 2 star boy, 2 needle sunfish, and 3 breakers

I do have 3 Sharks, but 2 copies only of Sunfish and Yomis since I don't like to reset that box again for the 3rd time.

The only real question/problem I have is trying to figure out what cards to replace!

The 2 new Mako level cards look to good to be ignored.

I want them in my Mako deck.
The problem is I still haven't made a decision on what to replace for them. lol
