Breakthrough Skill | Normal Trap |
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR]
Target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; that face-up monster your opponent controls has its effects negated until the end of this turn. During your turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; that target has its effects negated until the end of this turn. |
Since non-effect monsters are rarely used anymore, Breakthrough Skill's effect is very relevant and can help stop your opponent's plays. While it may have a more limited use compared to something like Ultimate Providence, not having a discard cost and being able to use it a second time can be beneficial in a lot of situations.
The fact that it can be used again in the graveyard is an added bonus. This makes it still useful even if your opponent destroys your back row before you get to use it. However, the second effect only works during your turn, and only the turn after it's sent to the grave.
Return of the Red-Eyes | Continuous Trap |
Structure Deck: Return of the Red-Eyes [R]
If you control a "Red-Eyes" monster, except "Red-Eyes B. Chick": You can target 1 Normal Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. If this card in your possession is destroyed by an opponent's card effect and sent to your Graveyard: You can target 1 "Red-Eyes" monster in your Graveyard, except "Red-Eyes B. Chick"; Special Summon it. You can only use each effect of "Return of the Red-Eyes" once per turn. |
Able to revive Red-Eyes Black Dragon or Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning when you have a "Red-Eyes" monster. This card's second effect can allows you special summon 1 "Red-Eyes" monster not limited to Normal Monster while this card is destroyed by your opponent's card effect and sent to your Graveyard.
Constellar Ptolemy M7 | LIGHT Machine ★6 ATK 2700 / DEF 2000 |
Infinite Ray [UR] Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR]
2 Level 6 monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Constellar" Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material, other than "Constellar Ptolemy M7". (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If Summoned this way, the following effect cannot be activated this turn. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster on the field or in either player's Graveyard; return that target to the hand. |
Using Insight and RE Fusion, you can send both RE Archfiend and Zirnitron from deck to grave. You can then revive RE Archfiend with Spirit and Zirnitron through its own effect to then Xyz into M7.
It's a decent monster removal effect, but can also help you recover a monster or remove annoying monsters in your opponent's grave.
Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon | DARK Dragon ★4 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Phantom of Rebellion [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes half its current ATK, and if it does, this card gains that lost ATK. |
General Rank 4 Xyz Monster for players to use so far. Its effect essentially lets you deal 2500 (its own ATK) damage if this attacks the monster you targeted. The advantage is that your opponent's monster's ATK is also lowered, allowing you to attack over it with your other weaker monsters.
Heroic Champion - Excalibur | LIGHT Warrior ★4 ATK 2000 / DEF 2000 |
Eternal Stream [UR] | |
2 Level 4 Warrior-Type monsters Once per turn: You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card; this card's ATK becomes double its original ATK until your opponent's next End Phase. |
One of the solutions to get over monster aside from Fang with Chains. Being 4000 ATK also makes it easier to secure some games it can get a direct attack.
Number C39: Utopia Ray | LIGHT Warrior ★4 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Infinite Ray [UR] | |
3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 39: Utopia" you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; it gains 500 ATK and 1 monster your opponent controls loses 1000 ATK, until the End Phase. You must have 1000 Life Points or less to activate and to resolve this effect. |
To be used when your LP gets low. Normal summon Gaerfried and give it an equip to special summon another level 4 so you can XYZ into Utopia and then Utopia Ray.
Using Gearfried's second effect like this won't end up destroying your opponent's spell/trap, so there will be some risk if your opponent has a backrow. But using its effect 3 times and an uninterrupted attack can often lead to an OTK.
Number 39: Utopia | LIGHT Warrior ★4 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Shining Hope [UR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters When any player's monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the attack. When this card is targeted for an attack, while it has no Xyz Materials: Destroy this card. |
These rank 4 XYZ are situationally useful since the only lvl 4 in the deck is Red-Eyes Gearfried, but having it can help clear some monster zone, get over high ATK monsters, stall a turn, or close out games.
Voloferniges, the Darkest Dragon Doomrider | DARK Dragon ★7 ATK 2500 / DEF 2100 |
Cross Dimension [SR] Selection Box Vol.06 [SR]
2 Level 7 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 2 materials from this card, then target 1 face-up card on the field; destroy it, and if you destroyed a monster, you can make 1 face-up monster you control gain ATK equal to the destroyed monster's original Level/Rank x 300 until the end of the next turn. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect. This is a Quick Effect if this card has a Dragon monster as material, but cannot be activated in the Damage Step. |
Face-Up Card Destruction including backrow is pretty decent effect but sadly it cannot activated during Damage Step. When you destroyed a monster, it will allows you boost up ATK of 1 monster you control until the end of the next turn.
Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger | WIND Dragon ★7 ATK 2600 / DEF 2100 |
Infinite Ray [SR] | |
2 Level 7 monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a Rank 5 or 6 Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. |
Gives the deck a piercing effect to help deal with defensive players. But mostly only worth it if you bring multiple rank 5 or 6 and need a follow-up after using their effects.
Number 70: Malevolent Sin | DARK Insect ★4 ATK 2400 / DEF 1200 |
Photons of Galaxy [SR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3. |
A pretty strong generic rank 4 XYZ that's useful in a lot of decks. Its effect to temporarily banish an opponent's monster can help win games, but it can also continuously increase its attack.
Steelswarm Roach | DARK Fiend ★4 ATK 1900 / DEF 0 |
Photons of Galaxy [SR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters During either player's turn, when a Level 5 or higher monster would be Special Summoned: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the Special Summon, and if you do, destroy it. |
One of the better generic rank 4 XYZ available. It helps control what your opponent can or can't summon.
Digital Bug Rhinosebus | LIGHT Insect ★7 ATK 2600 / DEF 2200 |
Infinite Ray [R] | |
2 or more Level 7 LIGHT Insect-Type monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by detaching 2 Xyz Materials from a Rank 5 or 6 Insect-Type Xyz Monster you control, then using that Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; destroy the face-up monster(s) your opponent controls with the highest DEF (all, if tied). |
This is summoned by ranking up from Exa-Beetle, which will only give it 1 material for 1 use.
Rhinosebus has a quick-effect and it's a non-targeting monster removal. Either use it early to stop potential combos, or do it once they summon their boss monster.
Inzektor Exa-Beetle | DARK Insect ★6 ATK 1000 / DEF 1000 |
Darkness Gimmick [R] | |
2 Level 6 monsters When this card is Xyz Summoned: You can target 1 monster in either player's Graveyard; equip that target to this card. This card gains ATK and DEF equal to half the original ATK and DEF of the monster equipped by this effect. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up card on each side of the field; send those targets to the Graveyard. |
Exa-Stag's effect is very useful against those monsters that cannot be destroyed by battle or card effect. This effect not only can target monsters on the field but Graveyard which can disrupt your opponent's combo sometimes that requires graveyard activation effect.
Number 18: Heraldry Patriarch | LIGHT Psychic ★4 ATK 2200 / DEF 2200 |
Voltage of the Metal [R]
2 Level 4 monsters Once per Chain, during either player's turn, if 2 or more monsters with the same name are on the field: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; choose 1 monster among those with the same name, and destroy all other monsters with that name. While this card remains face-up on the field, your opponent cannot Summon monsters with the same name as any of the monster(s) chosen for this card's effect. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can send 2 "Heraldic Beast" monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard. |
This effect can potentially win the duel, but this only works against certain decks that uses same name monsters like Harpies or Cyber Dragons. But since the deck only has a few level 4 monsters, it can be difficult to reliably bring a rank 4 out.
Noted By KINGPLAYER:
My most favorite deck of all time. Archfiend Black skull dragon is overpowered as hell. It hard counters many decks, especially melodious, Blue eyes, thunder dragons or yosenjus. This deck has a very strong turn 2.
There are great combos with gearfried and fang with chain or metal dragon to pop some backrow or steal opponent‘s boss monsters. I would add a 2nd fang with chain if I had one. So good.
3x MST is a must have to sack heroes, harpies or backrow heavy decks.
Lightning vortex + red-eyes fusion is Auto win. People just rage quit…
The skill can make a dead red eyes black dragon in your hand alive.
Love that deck. Hope there will be more red-eyes support soon.
