Pros

  • Can negate any card effect.
  • Destroys the negated card.

Cons

  • Needs to discard same type of card to negate an effect, making this somewhat situational.

Tips

Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord

When you negate an effect with Ultimate Providence, you can Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord special summoned special summoned from your hand and depending on what you negate he activates a different effect. And since Ultimate Providence can negate any card effect, you can choose what to negate and have Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord gain a specific effect.

Bountiful Artemis

Having Bountiful Artemis Face-up when you use counter traps allows you to draw a card. This will help you recover from the cost of using Ultimate Providence.

A Cat of Ill Omens

You can use A Cat of Ill Omen to search this card and put it at the top of your deck.

I was playing against a deck that had this card. I had Koa'ki Meiru Sandman on the field, but I was not given an option to negate Ultimate Providence effect. Any reason why that would be?

This guy has a discard as a cost. Meaning that it takes 2 steps for it to activate the effect. Can miss timing.

What the hell are you talking about?
How does it miss timing when it couldn't even be activated?
I guess u don't understand the concept of spell speed as well.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Well you can't negate a card unless it finishes its cost, then it has another effect. So its two effects but one at a time.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
it's not even about missing the timing, also cost is not an effect

it's simply because monster effect has a lower Speed Spell than counter trap

could this stop silent magician's effect?

Silent magician negate magic? If so, yes

I have a question. Would Ultimate Providence negate Jinzo's effect or would Jinzo still be unaffected?
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
jinzo locks up, up only can negate activated effect (jinzo's is not)

Jinzo makes it so you cant even play the card. Just like how the presence of Invader of Darkness make it so your opponent can't even play quick-spell cards.

And if you can't play it you can't do 🔥 all.

Xenon Reply
Only trap cards that should work against Jinzo are CV and Solemn as they negate the summon.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
It doesn't negate on summon, and jinzo's effect is a continuous one, not an activated one. So you can't use this against Jinzo

The best counter trap current but i wish they added solemn judgement too

Counter traps can only be negated by other counter traps.
