Cons

Needs to discard same type of card to negate an effect, making this somewhat situational.

Tips

Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord

When you negate an effect with Ultimate Providence, you can Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord special summoned special summoned from your hand and depending on what you negate he activates a different effect. And since Ultimate Providence can negate any card effect, you can choose what to negate and have Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord gain a specific effect.

Bountiful Artemis

Having Bountiful Artemis Face-up when you use counter traps allows you to draw a card. This will help you recover from the cost of using Ultimate Providence.

A Cat of Ill Omens

You can use A Cat of Ill Omen to search this card and put it at the top of your deck.

when ultimate providence activates and i use secret six samurai fuma to prevent destruction but my monster still dies anyway, why?

You cant activate Fuma in the first place because SJ is a counter trap (spell speed 4) and Fuma is a quick effect (spell speed 2).

You're stupid. Fuma effect is a continuous effect, meaning you can banish it if one of your monsters would be destroyed by a counter trap. We don't know what happened in this scenario.

As far as I’m concerned when is activated, is the moment of a card initially being pressed/activated then if that cards activation is negated aka stopped how can it proceed to take any action other than be destroyed as the card states that is what should happen this is especially annoying when it comes to a card or effect with what should have a slower speed,

It should be, as long as you had trap on your hand to be discarded as the cost.

Why can't Ultimate Providence chain to the activation of Return of Red-Eyes?

1. It can chain to the activation of the card, but not the effect. If Return of Red-Eyes is already face up on the field, Ultimate Providence can't do anything.

2. Do you have a trap card in your hand as a cost?

I was playing against a guy that had this card set in his backrow and i had forbidden lance in my hand and it was my turn. He activated ultimate providence to negate and destory a monster i had but i didnt get a prompt to actiavte my forbidden lance not sure why that happened does anybody know why?

Because this card is Counter Trap. Forbidden Lance is Quick Spell, which is slower. You can only chain it by another Counter Trap.

Unfortunately, your Lance cannot protect your monster! That's due to something called "spell speed " Since UP is a Counter trap, no cards can be activated in response except for another Counter trap!

Why cant this negate the activation of Galloping Gaia? I had UP on the field and a spell in hand and was not given the prompt to activate

-Is the Galloping gaia already on the field? UP only negate activation, not effect. Activation timing is the moment your opponent place it from his hand to field.

-Is your opponent use skill to play this card? Skill aren't any part of card of mechanic so you can't active anything to respond it till it finished.

how can neos fusion effect to prevent destruction react to ultimate providence?

Destruction substitution effects don't activate/start chains, you just choose to apply them instead of destroying the card

Neos fusion secondary effect skip activation phase and straight went into effect. Thats why any activation negation doesn't affect it. Card like Necrovalley or Anubis however disable the effect since it was negating the effect not preventing the activation.

Technically yes, but quintet can't be destroyed by effects so it will stay on field
