If you negate the activation of an opponent's Spell/Trap Card(s), or opponent's monster effect(s), with a Counter Trap Card (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand. If Summoned this way, activate these effects and resolve in sequence, depending on the type of card(s) negated by that Counter Trap:● Spell: Inflict 1500 damage to your opponent.● Trap: Target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy that target.● Monster: Target 1 monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.
Monster activation are getting more and more common, and negating these effects can be crucial to stop their plays, especially since it will also destroy their monster. This will end up letting you special summon Van'Dalgyon and destroying your opponent's monster, for the price of 1 discard.
Magic Jammer is a guaranteed trap card to negate your opponent's spell card. You will have to discard a card to use this, but using it when you have Van'Dalgyon in your hand will let you special summon it, and inflict 1500 damage to your opponent.
A versatile counter trap that can negate monster activation, spell, or trap cards, provided that you have the type of card you want to negate in your hand as well. You will have to be more conservative about using, or setting your cards if you want to use this.
Another card that can be special summoned when you use a counter trap card, but Voltanis comes with another requirement to use. Putting both Voltanis and Van'Dalgyon can work if you are using mostly Dark attribute monsters, otherwise, it can potentially become a dead card in your hand.
Endless Trap Hell Can be used when you have 3 trap cards in the Graveyard. 1 random Trap Card in your Graveyard is added to your hand. Then, shuffle 1 random Trap Card in your Graveyard into your Deck. This skill can only be used once per Duel.
This card can be amazing in the right deck, a combo with a dragon deck, and dragon rebirth plus kidmodo, i got this card, bewd and vanguard with 2200 atk in field,
However you need to be careful to not build a dead hand deck
it works extremely well with ultimate providance. ex: your opponent activates any effect monster like relinquished or levia-dragon or parasites from weevil decks or even kuriboh, use ultimate providence to negate it's effect, destroy it and send the strongest monster you have in your hand to the graveyard, then van dalgyon is summoned to the field and you can special summon the monster you discarded... so, 2 monsters on the field that can kill your opponent in one turn.
when you attack, get mirror walled and you use trap jammer or up you can summon him and destroy any card in your opponent side of the field, another 1 turn kill if he only has one monster in his side of the field.
in weevil decks just negate any mask of the accursed (not sure thats the right name) using up or chivalry and it drops your opponent's lp by 1500, again you summon this beast in the field and now you have 2 monsters and another possible one turn kill.
the only down sides of this is that you can only get one and it doesn't work if you negate an effect during the damage step (yomi, ladybug, michizure).
correction: when i said chivalry i meant ryrioku field
One great use for this card is the challenge where you have to deal 1500 effect damage in one shot against Kaiba. You're probably going to blow thru some white keys to get it done but counter one E-con and you've got it.
up until te point that you can't make use of those mere 3 copies of champ vig. this card is still a dead card in your hand, still a very specific situation, would work better with decks that entirely focus on counter traps
Nah, but you can certainly include this in a deck that uses counter traps like Magic Drain, Magica Jammer, Trap Jammer, Divine Wrath or Vigilance and it's overall a good boss monster for Dragon decks if you tech on a few copies of any of the Cards listened above
