Since you will require to protect this monster when it is in face-down defense position, these are the recommended cards that you can use.

Note :

This card has powerful monster destruction capability but it is generally to slow for Flip monsters to shine in the current fast paced meta.

Why its effect is not targeted ? Description implies it is targeted. It clearly does not destroy random monsters on field, so it has to select target(s).

Yugioh is a game where wording is extremely specific and extremely important. Select is not the same as Target, for example, despite both being basically the same action. And then there's Discard as Cost vs Discard as Effect.

In Geargianchor's case, it destroys multiple cards at once, so it doesn't target, even if you can select which ones to destroy in case you can only destroy 2 out of 3.

Also, generally, if a card does not say "target", then it does not target, period.

Even if the card only affect 1 monster, like in Spellbook of Fate's case.

I have a couple of questions;

1) can you use its effect of changing it to face down defence position during ur opponents turn
2) if an opponents monster attacks it while it is face down and is forced to flip can you use its effect to destroy the attacking monster (preventing itself from being destroyed) or do both monsters get destroyed
(I’m a bit of a noob, forgive me if this is basic knowledge)

2) If the ATK is higher than Geargianchor both monsters get destroyed

Yall wanna explain why this negates my card "fusion sword Murasame blade" which prevents being destroyed by card effect?

It can, since Anchor's effect doesn't target.
