How to Play

King of the Skull Servants

King of the Skull Servants
King of the Skull Servants
DARK Zombie ★1
ATK ? / DEF 0
Bonz [SR]
The original ATK of this card is the combined number of "King of the Skull Servants" and "Skull Servant" in your Graveyard x 1000. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: You can banish 1 other "King of the Skull Servants" or 1 "Skull Servant" from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card.

The King of the Skull Servants is the main focus of this Deck. He gains 1000 ATK for every Skull Servant in the graveyard.

Since all the Wight Monsters shares a common effect to each other which their name will become "Skull Servant" while they are in the Graveyard, these monsters will fuel the King's attack power.

Wight Monsters

These Wight Monsters are the main fuel for King of the Skull Servants.

The Lady in Wight
The Lady in Wight
DARK Zombie ★3
ATK 0 / DEF 2200
Ranked Rewards [SR]
Face-up Level 3 or lower Zombie-Type monsters on the field, except "The Lady in Wight", cannot be destroyed by battle and are unaffected by Spell/Trap effects. This card's name becomes "Skull Servant" while it is in the Graveyard.

A decent defensive monster with 2200 DEF to protect "King of the Skull Servant" from battle destruction and backrow immunity.

Wightprincess
Wightprincess
DARK Zombie ★3
ATK 1600 / DEF 0
Energy of Gigarays [R]
This card’s name becomes "Skull Servant" while it is in the Graveyard. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 "Wightprince" from your Deck to the Graveyard. During either player's turn: You can send this card from your hand or field to the Graveyard; all monsters currently on the field lose ATK and DEF equal to their own Level/Rank x 300, until the end of this turn.

Can be used during either players' turn makes this card more useful to prevent OTK from your opponent by reducing their ATK regarding to their own Level/Rank.

Wightprince
Wightprince
DARK Zombie ★1
ATK 0 / DEF 0
Energy of Gigarays [R]
If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can send 1 "Skull Servant" and 1 "The Lady in Wight" from your hand and/or Deck to the Graveyard. You can banish 2 "Skull Servants" and this card from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 "King of the Skull Servants" from your Deck. This card's name becomes "Skull Servant" while it is in the Graveyard.

If Wightprince is sent to the graveyard, you can send the original Skull Servant and The Lady in Wight to your graveyard which will allows you to send 3 "Skull Servant" with this effect.

You can even banish Wightprince, along with two other Skull Servant cards, to special summon King of the Skull Servants from your deck.

Wightmare
Wightmare
DARK Zombie ★1
ATK 300 / DEF 200
Energy of Gigarays [N]
While it is in the Graveyard, this card's name is treated as "Skull Servant". You can discard this card to activate 1 of the following effects:

● Select 1 of your removed from play "Skull Servant" or "Wightmare", and return it to your Graveyard.
● Select 1 of your removed from play "The Lady in Wight" or "King of the Skull Servants", and Special Summon it.

One of the main core of this Deck. You can either Special Summon a banished copy of The Lady in Wight or King of the Skull Servants by discarding or return a banished Skull Servant or another Wightmare to your graveyard.

Since this effect isn't limited to once-per-turn, so you can use multiple copies in one go.

Lightsworn Engine

To speed up your graveyard setup, tech in the Lightsworn Engine for milling.

Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn
Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn
LIGHT Warrior ★4
ATK 1700 / DEF 1000
Judgement Force [SR]
Selection Box Vol.04 [SR]
During your Main Phase: You can send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard, then if any "Lightsworn" monsters were sent to the Graveyard by this effect, this card gains 200 ATK until the end of your opponent's turn. You can only use this effect of "Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn" once per turn. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.

Raiden is the only Main Deck Lightsworn monster that lets you actively mill during the Main Phase. Because it happens during the Main Phase you can immediately use the resources you milled.

Another thing is that Raiden being a Level-4 Tuner is exactly what you need to pair with Level 3 Wightprincess to make Level 7 Synchro Monster.

Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner
Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner
LIGHT Spellcaster ★3
ATK 1000 / DEF 1000
Judgement Force [R]
Once per turn: You can discard 1 card, then target 1 Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. During each of your End Phases: Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.

Lumina revives Raiden to immediately make a level-7 Synchro.

Charge of the Light Brigade
Charge of the Light Brigade
Normal Spell
Judgement Force [SR]
Selection Box Vol.04 [SR]
Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard; add 1 Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monster from your Deck to your hand.

Charge of the Light Brigade fetches Raiden and is itself also a good mill card. The cost doesn't really negatively affect your available resources. And extra milling during the Main Phase helps you perform the combo with Raiden and Wightprince to Special Summon King of the Skull Servants from your Graveyard.

Solar Recharge
Solar Recharge
Normal Spell
Judgement Force [R]
Discard 1 "Lightsworn" monster; draw 2 cards, then send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.

Another good Spell for graveyard setup. If you have both Lumina and Raiden onhand, discard Raiden as cost to setup a Synchro play.

Dark World Dealings

Dark World Dealings
Dark World Dealings
Normal Spell
Valiant Souls [UR]
Selection Box Vol. 01 [UR]
Each player draws 1 card, then each player discards 1 card.

Dark World Dealings allows you to draw a card and then discard a card. This effect will be good for filter with Grave Combo Setup and gets core card faster.

Needlebug Nest

Needlebug Nest
Needlebug Nest
Normal Trap
Land of the Titans [R]
Selection Box Vol. 01 [R]
Send the top 5 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.

Great for increasing the consistency of the Deck by sending top 5 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. This effect will allows you to setup your graveyard easier for combo and also helps to increase King of the Skull Servants's ATK stat.

Extra Deck

Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon
Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon
FIRE Dragon ★7
ATK 2500 / DEF 2000
Force of Infinity [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 card in your Pendulum Zone; Special Summon it, also this card cannot attack for the rest of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon" once per turn. Monsters in your opponent's possession cannot activate their effects during the Battle Phase.

Mainly to disable/prevent monster effects during your battle phase, which can prevent commonly used handtraps that often stalls the duel.

Shiranui Squiresaga
Shiranui Squiresaga
FIRE Zombie ★7
ATK 2100 / DEF 0
Soul of Resurrection [UR]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
You can only Special Summon "Shiranui Squiresaga(s)" once per turn. Once per turn: You can banish 1 face-up monster you control or in your GY, then apply these effects, in sequence, depending on what the monster was before it was banished, if it was any of these.
● Zombie: You can have all monsters you control gain 300 ATK.
● FIRE: You can destroy 1 Spell/Trap on the field.
● Synchro: You can destroy 1 monster on the field.

Summon Squiresaga and banish her with her own effect to pop 2 cards and give your monsters slight boost. If you want to keep Squiresaga on board, you can just banish other monsters; like banishing a Black Rose Dragon in the graveyard to pop a backrow.

Black Rose Dragon
Black Rose Dragon
FIRE Dragon ★7
ATK 2400 / DEF 1800
Blazing Rose [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can destroy all cards on the field. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Plant-Type monster from your Graveyard, then target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; change that target to face-up Attack Position, and if you do, its ATK becomes 0 until the end of this turn.

Special Summon Black Rose Dragon to get rid of your opponent's entire field setup, then OTK with King of the Skull Servant which is special summoned from the graveyard by Wightprince's effect.

PSY-Framelord Zeta
PSY-Framelord Zeta
LIGHT Psychic ★7
ATK 2500 / DEF 1800
Future Horizon [R]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls in face-up Attack Position; banish both that monster and this card from the field, but return them in your next Standby Phase. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can target 1 other "PSY-Frame" card in your Graveyard; return this card to the Extra Deck, and if you do, add that target to your hand.

Zeta's effect can be used again and again after it comes back to effectively serve as non-destruction removal until you get a proper out to the enemy monster. The removal also has an anti-Xyz utilty to it, because Xyz monsters banished by this lose all their materials.

Samurai Destroyer
Samurai Destroyer
EARTH Machine ★7
ATK 2600 / DEF 1400
Dark Dimension [R]
Fantastic Arc [R]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
If this card battles an opponent's monster, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step, also that opponent's monster has its effects negated during the Battle Phase only. If this face-up card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can target 1 Machine monster in your GY; Special Summon it.

Summon Samurai Destroyer as an offensive option. He prevents your opponent from activating effects when he battles, stopping battle traps and disruption like Sphere Kuriboh and Kiteroid, letting all of Samurai Destroyer's attacks go through.

Monsters battling Samurai Destroyer have their effects negated. This makes Samurai Destroyer a good way to get rid of monsters without triggering their floating effects. You can also attack into monsters and ignore their self ATK boosts.

Leviair the Sea Dragon
Leviair the Sea Dragon
WIND Sea Serpent ★3
ATK 1800 / DEF 1600
Voltage of the Metal [UR]
2 Level 3 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 banished Level 4 or lower monster; Special Summon that target to your side of the field.

Leviair lets you revive banished monsters, even one from the opponent's side. You can bring back The Lady in Wight to protect King of the Skull Servant after using Wightprince to special summon King of the Skull Servant by banishing The Lady and other Wight or Skull Servant Monsters including Prince.

Sylvan Princessprite
Sylvan Princessprite
LIGHT Plant ★1
ATK 1800 / DEF 100
Chaotic Soldiers [SR]
Selection Box Vol.04 [SR]
2 Level 1 monsters
You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; excavate the top card of your Deck, and if it is a Spell/Trap Card, add it to your hand. Otherwise, send it to the Graveyard. You can send 1 other Plant-Type monster from your hand or face-up from your field to the Graveyard, then target 1 "Sylvan" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can only use each effect of "Sylvan Princessprite" once per turn.

Summon Princessprite by using any of your Level-1 Wight Monsters or King of the Skull Servant as Xyz materials. We mainly want Princessprite for her excavate effect. If you excavate a Spell/Trap its effectively a free draw, and even if you mill Wight Monsters will also help Grave Setup Combo which this deck most relies on .

Other Card Options

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
LIGHT Warrior ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Selection Box Vol.05 [UR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can activate 1 of these effects.

● Target 1 monster on the field; banish that target face-up. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect.
● If this attacking card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, after damage calculation: It can make a second attack in a row.

Easily special summonable in this deck since there are LIGHT and DARK Skull Servant Archetype Monsters. Its effect is pretty decent for either monster removal or as an OTK option, which can often force your opponent to activate their effects to deal with this.

Burial from a Different Dimension

Burial from a Different Dimension
Burial from a Different Dimension
Quick Spell
Warriors Unite [SR]
Target up to 3 banished monsters; return them to the Graveyard.

Return up to 3 banished Wight Monsters or King of the Skull Servant to the Graveyard to boost Up King of the Skull Servant's ATK.

Breakthrough Skill

Breakthrough Skill
Breakthrough Skill
Normal Trap
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR]
Target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; that face-up monster your opponent controls has its effects negated until the end of this turn. During your turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; that target has its effects negated until the end of this turn.

Disrupts your opponent and it works well when you get it in hand or milled with the Lightsworns.

Other Extra Decks

Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth
Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth
DARK Dragon ★5
ATK 100 / DEF 2600
Cybernetic Rebellion [SR]
Selection Box Vol. 02 [SR] [SR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, or if this card you control is sent to your Graveyard by an opponent's card effect: You can target 1 monster in either player's Graveyard, except "Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth"; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth" once per turn.

Can be special summoned by using Raiden and Wightprince. Samsara has similar effect to Monster Reborn that can special summon 1 monster in either players' Graveyard when it is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard. It can also be a decent Defensive Monster with 2600 DEF.

The Phantom Knights of Break Sword
The Phantom Knights of Break Sword
DARK Warrior ★3
ATK 2000 / DEF 1000
Phantom of Rebellion [SR]
2 Level 3 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 card you control and 1 card your opponent controls; destroy them. If this Xyz Summoned card is destroyed: You can target 2 "The Phantom Knights" monsters with the same Level in your Graveyard; Special Summon them and increase their Levels by 1, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except DARK monsters.

It has a card removal effect that almost works like Diamond Dire Wolf and a rank-up effect that works differently than just adding a higher rank on top of it.

It's recommended to go after backrows first since it will be a huge problem if the monsters you special summoned get stopped by something like Floodgate Trap Hole or even Book of Moon.

Ghostrick Alucard
Ghostrick Alucard
DARK Zombie ★3
ATK 1800 / DEF 1600
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 3 monsters
Monsters your opponent controls cannot target face-up "Ghostrick" monsters, or any face-down Defense Position monsters, for attacks, except this one. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Set card your opponent controls; destroy that target. You can only use this effect of "Ghostrick Alucard" once per turn. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 other "Ghostrick" card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.

Useful as a backrow remover so you can more safely do your plays.

The most BASED deck!

I use servants with ls engine an does reasonably well just lacks protection

If we ever get Wightbaking then the deck would have more protection. It can protect king from monster destruction which lady lacks, it can get you a wightprincess in hand and a wightprince in the GY, which let's you dump skull servant and lady for a total 4K attack boost. The only issue is for Konami to actually add it to the game. Either via an event or as a mini-box UR/SR

Is Skull Servant a decent deck with the new support? Anyone already tried it?

It's pretty fun in PVE. Princess and Prince mill pretty fast, along with Gozuki/Samurai Skull/etc. I only have 1 Lady in Wight, though, so there's not much built-in protection.

Ok, thanks. I guess I might try it for PvE too. I guess it doesn't stand a chance in PvP though.

In duel rooms where you can find some rookies or meme decks skull servants really shine.

Monster reincarnation really serves no purpose other than take up space and more often than not give you a dead hand.

Also, better to just use samurai skull since it's cheaper to get and has virtually the same effect

Love this archetype. Too bad it's missing essential pieces to make it competitive. Uni-Zombie, Wight Prince and Wightmare (Wight Princess is ok as well). If Uni-Zombie and Wight Prince were added to this game, the deck would be very strong. Shiranui Solitaire into uni-zombie, dump a wight prince... Oh well, wishful thinking.

I really want more support for this archetype... one of my favorites

Except for the fact that Desperado will still 🔥 on it.

Viable deck to at least hit legendary rank with a solid build, but hitting KoG will be problematic for it.

Maybe grass can fit well with the deck.

How do you get 3 Kings if you can only get 2 via Bonz level up?

Add 3 Phalanx Pike and choose "No Mortal Can Resist" (Ishizu) as your Skill and you'll get a very fun deck to play.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
"No Mortal Can Resist" only affects opponent's GY, so it has no effect on your own King of Skull Servants. Phalanx Pike also only works on monsters with the same name, and KOtSS does not change its name to Skull Servant while on the field, so that wouldn't work either.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
I think you didn't understand. Equip a regular Skull Servant with Phalanx Pike and use that skill to gain some ATK. It clearly says:
"The equipped monster gains 900 ATK for each card in EITHER Graveyard that has the same name it does."
But that's a very gimmicky strategy

That's a pretty spicy combination. I love it.
