Don't forget there is another special ability this card has. Once you have two of your own ghostrick alucard on your side of the field at the same time, your opponent automatically cannot attack. But the owner of the ghostrick monsters can. Thats because both cards effects helps each other at the same time.

generic Rank 3 that destroys any Set card, but sadly, is more useful against Set monsters than Set backrow since the text says "destroy that target", meaning the target must remain Set during the resolution of this card's effect.

Nowadays most backrow cards your opponent Set are the ones that can be activated anytime, meaning they can be chained to this card, rendering this card's effect useless.

Yeah, this card's purpose is to bait backrow, that's the reason why this card is used in OCG/TCG back then.

So even if it failed to destroy a set backrow, it still at least mess with your opponent's game plan.

You are really stupid. Alucard only destroying set cards means that it won't do anything if it's a continuous trap. Meanwhile Vermillion, Spirit of White and Scrap Dragon destroy the trap no matter if it's continuous or not.

Cope. Continuous traps aren’t the only that exist and Alucard can still destroy ones that can’t be activated in response to him.
