Tried this multiple times and the effect doesn't activate/doesn't let me activate it.

Maybe the opponent didn't have any monster in his hand

That wouldn't be the case, even if they have no monsters in their hand, you can still activate this card's effect, you just obviously can't add anything to your hand.

Either you didn't have 1500 LP left, or they were attacking with Aromage Rosemary. Or it wasn't destroyed by battle. Or you just turned your timing to off or clicked through the prompt or something.

Hirok

Great for getting your characters skill ability to activate at lower life points. Also is great to steal sphere kuriboh with.
