![]() Gouki Riscorpio | EARTH Warrior ★5 ATK 2300 / DEF 0 |
Flames of the Heart [SR]
If you control no monsters, or all monsters you control are "Gouki" monsters, you can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. If this card is sent from the field to the GY: You can add 1 "Gouki" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Gouki Riscorpio". You can only use this effect of "Gouki Riscorpio" once per turn. |
![]() Gouki Suprex | EARTH Warrior ★4 ATK 1800 / DEF 0 |
Flames of the Heart [UR]
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 "Gouki" monster from your hand. If this card is sent from the field to the GY: You can add 1 "Gouki" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Gouki Suprex". You can only use this effect of "Gouki Suprex" once per turn. |
![]() Gouki Twistcobra | EARTH Warrior ★3 ATK 1600 / DEF 0 |
Flames of the Heart [SR]
(Quick Effect): You can Tribute 1 "Gouki" monster, then target 1 "Gouki" monster you control; it gains ATK equal to the original ATK of the Tributed monster until the end of this turn. If this card is sent from the field to the GY: You can add 1 "Gouki" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Gouki Twistcobra". You can only use each effect of "Gouki Twistcobra" once per turn. |
Most of the Gouki monsters are used as beaters. Normal Summon Suprex to swarm the field. Riscorpio can be Normal Summoned without tribute if you control a Gouki monster, but it is quicker to Special Summon him with Suprex.
Twistcobra is a good monster to Special Summon with Suprex to prepare its effect. Twistcobra can tribute Suprex to boost his own ATK above most monsters. As a quick effect this can be done during your opponent's turn to disrupt an opponent's attack, and can also be done to make use of a Gouki targeted by your opponent's effect. Twistcobra's effect can be used to trigger Goukis' search effect, so it can be worth keeping him on the field.
![]() Necrovalley | Field Spell |
Dark Dimension [UR] | |
All "Gravekeeper's" monsters gain 500 ATK and DEF. Cards in the Graveyard cannot be banished. Negate any card effect that would move a card in the Graveyard to a different place. Negate any card effect that changes Types or Attributes in the Graveyard. |
This Gouki deck has a very straightforward beatdown play style. To compliment this play style we also use control cards that hinder your opponent from using their effects.
This deck doesn't interact with the graveyard in any way, so Necrovalley will only serve to prevent your opponent from interacting with their graveyard.
Fiendish Chain shuts down monster effects which helps deal with your opponent's combo starter and boss monster. It also prevents your opponent's monster from attacking if you want to use Fiendish Chain as a battle trap.
This Gouki deck is also very susceptible to Fiendish Chain, but that can be dealt with by Cosmic Cyclone and Ballista Squad.
![]() Book of Moon | Quick Spell |
Selection Box Vol.04 [UR]
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; change that target to face-down Defense Position. |
Book of Moon is an extremely versatile card that fits the control aspect of this deck. Flipping a monster face-down exposes weak DEF stats and is a good way of turning off continuous effects. Additionally, combos that involve Synchros and Xyz require the monster to be face up so this is a good way to disrupt them. Against Noble Knights, you can use this to get rid of their equips.
![]() Enemy Controller | Quick Spell |
Seto Kaiba [SR] Seto Kaiba (DSOD) [SR] Ranked Rewards [SR]
Activate 1 of these effects.● Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; change that target's battle position.● Tribute 1 monster, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; take control of that target until the End Phase. |
Tribute your Gouki to take control of an opponent's monster. You can then use the tributed Gouki's search effect to get Bearhug or Riscorpio, and Tributed Summon them using the monster you took so that it does not go back to your opponent.
![]() Ballista Squad | Normal Trap |
Fortress of Gears [UR] | |
Tribute 1 monster, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it. |
Ballista Squad removes an opponent's card from the field while also activating your Gouki search effect. Use a Gouki about to be removed by your opponent's effect as tribute to waste their removal. Ballista Squad is also one of the ways this Gouki deck can deal with your opponent's backrow.
![]() Fiendish Chain | Continuous Trap |
Selection Box Vol. 03 [UR] Shining Hope [UR]
Activate this card by targeting 1 Effect Monster on the field; negate that face-up monster's effects, also that face-up monster cannot attack. When it is destroyed, destroy this card. |
Fiendish Chain is a great counter against monster effect reliant Decks. You can use this to negate the effects of monsters that Special Summon other monsters preventing your opponent from going into their Synchro and Xyz plays.
![]() Light-Imprisoning Mirror | Continuous Trap |
Umbra & Lumis [SR] | |
Negate all LIGHT monster effects activated on the field or in the Graveyard. |
Light-Imprisoning Mirror is used as an anti-meta tech against prevalent LIGHT decks that heavily rely on monster effects, such as Blue-Eyes and Cyber Dragon. It also slows down the popular Lightsworn mill engine.
Gouki decks do have the swarming ability, but their varying levels prevents them from becoming a truly efficient Xyz spam deck. Regardless, it is worth running Xyz in your otherwise empty Extra Deck in case you do get an opportunity to make them.
![]() Number 61: Volcasaurus | FIRE Dinosaur ★5 ATK 2500 / DEF 1000 |
Rage of Volcano [UR] | |
2 Level 5 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; destroy that opponent's monster, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster's original ATK. This card cannot attack your opponent directly during the turn you activate this effect. |
Make Volcasaurus using two Riscorpio as material. The removal effect is already good on its own, usually letting you get rid of stronger enemy monsters. The burn damage on top of that makes it even better due to possibly dealing lethal damage. The drawback of using its effect is not really a problem if your opponent controls multiple monsters, because you can still attack those.
![]() Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger | WIND Dragon ★7 ATK 2600 / DEF 2100 |
Infinite Ray [SR] | |
2 Level 7 monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a Rank 5 or 6 Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. |
After spending all of Volcasaurus' materials, you can upgrade it into Gaia Dragon for a slightly stronger beater with a piercing effect.
![]() Number 39: Utopia | LIGHT Warrior ★4 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Shining Hope [UR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters When any player's monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the attack. When this card is targeted for an attack, while it has no Xyz Materials: Destroy this card. |
Currently Utopia is one of the strongest generic Rank-4's in terms of ATK. The built-in battle protection effect that can be used to protect any of your monsters in case you need to stall.
If you need a beater while you're low on LP, Summon Utopia to upgrade into Utopia Ray.
![]() Number C39: Utopia Ray | LIGHT Warrior ★4 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Infinite Ray [UR] | |
3 Level 4 LIGHT monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a "Number 39: Utopia" you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; it gains 500 ATK and 1 monster your opponent controls loses 1000 ATK, until the End Phase. You must have 1000 Life Points or less to activate and to resolve this effect. |
Since you can only use Utopia Ray's effect when down to your last 1000 LP, he is best used to clutch the game. The ATK manipulation can help you get rid of a powerful enemy monster and deal massive damage. Keep in mind this effect can be activated multiple times per turn as long as you have the materials.
![]() Number 47: Nightmare Shark | WATER Fish ★3 ATK 2000 / DEF 2000 |
Reginald Kastle Unlock Event [UR]
2 Level 3 monsters When this card is Special Summoned: You can attach 1 Level 3 WATER monster from your hand or your side of the field to this card as an Xyz Material. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 WATER monster you control; this turn, that monster can attack your opponent directly, also other monsters cannot attack. |
Summon Nightmare Shark to hit your opponent directly for 2000 ATK. Best used when dealing the finishing blow.
![]() Number 50: Blackship of Corn | DARK Plant ★4 ATK 2100 / DEF 1500 |
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls with ATK less than or equal to this card's; send it to the Graveyard, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect. |
Gets rid of weak ATK enemy monsters particularly Ritual Beast Ulti-Pettlephin while also dealing a significant amount of burn damage.
![]() Gagaga Samurai | EARTH Warrior ★4 ATK 1900 / DEF 1600 |
Shining Hope [SR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 "Gagaga" monster you control; it can make a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn. When another monster you control is targeted for an attack while this card is in Attack Position: You can change this card to Defense Position, and if you do, change the attack target to this card and perform damage calculation. |
Summon only to push damage. Usually you will give Samurai the double attack and hit directly twice to deal massive damage.
![]() Gouki Iron Claw | EARTH Warrior ★2 ATK 1000 / DEF 0 |
Flames of the Heart [R] | |
During the Damage Step, when your "Gouki" monster battles an opponent's monster (Quick Effect): You can send this card from your hand to the GY; until the end of this turn, your monster gains 500 ATK, and if it does, it is unaffected by your opponent's card effects. If this card is sent from the field to the GY: You can add 1 "Gouki" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Gouki Iron Claw". You can only use each effect of "Gouki Iron Claw" once per turn. |
Gouki Iron Claw is different from other Gouki because you do not want him on the field, instead you want to keep him in your hand where he can make use of his effect. The ATK boost is good for attacking over slightly stronger monsters, but the effect immunity is much more useful because it allows you to ignore battle traps such as Sea Stealth Attack.
![]() Psychic Wheeleder | EARTH Psychic ★3 ATK 600 / DEF 0 |
Dimension of the Wizards [UR]
If you control a Level 3 monster other than "Psychic Wheeleder", you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in Defense Position. You can only Special Summon "Psychic Wheeleder" once per turn this way. If this card is sent to the GY as Synchro Material: You can target 1 monster on the field with less ATK than the Synchro Monster that used this card as material; destroy it. You can only use this effect of "Psychic Wheeleder" once per turn. |
Psychic Wheeleder is a great Tuner to use in a synchro variant of Gouki decks. You can Special Summon Wheeleder from your hand by just controlling Twistcobra and make level-6 Synchros. Normal Summon Suprex and use his effect to Special Summon Twistcobra, then Special Summon Wheeleder with its own effect and now you have access to level-6 and level-7 Synchro plays. Occasionally you can pair Wheeleder with Riscorpio to access the wide pool of level-8 Synchros, but generally your Extra Deck should contain more level-6 and 7 Synchros.
As a bonus, using Wheeleder and a Gouki monster as synchro material lets you activate the Gouki search effect and Wheeleder's removal effect. Overall netting you great card advantage.
![]() Scrap Dragon | EARTH Dragon ★8 ATK 2800 / DEF 2000 |
Valhalla Calling [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn: You can target 1 card you control and 1 card your opponent controls; destroy them. When this card is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to the Graveyard: Target 1 non-Synchro "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. |
When you do summon a level-8 monster, Scrap Dragon is a good choice. If you use one of your Gouki monsters for its removal effect, you essentially get to destroy an opponent's card while also getting a search effect.
![]() Coral Dragon | WATER Dragon ★6 ATK 2400 / DEF 500 |
Chronicle of Glory [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn: You can discard 1 card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it. If this Synchro Summoned card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Coral Dragon" once per turn. |
![]() Naturia Barkion | EARTH Dragon ★6 ATK 2500 / DEF 1800 |
Selection Box Vol. 03 [UR]
1 EARTH Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner EARTH monsters During either player's turn, when a Trap Card is activated: You can banish 2 cards from your Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. This card must be face-up on the field to activate and to resolve this effect. |
Because of your Gouki monsters' and Psychic Wheeleder's attribute, you get access to the Naturia Synchros for negation effects. Since you do not interact with your graveyard, Naturia Barkion is a good way to negate your opponent's Trap cards. Additionally, being a level-6 Synchro monster it can easily be made with Twistcobra and a Special Summoned Wheeleder. However, because of his effect cost he will not be useful while Necrovalley is on the field.
![]() Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier | WATER Dragon ★6 ATK 2300 / DEF 1400 |
Aerial Assault [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters You can discard any number of cards to the GY, then target the same number of cards your opponent controls; return those cards to the hand. You can only use this effect of "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" once per turn. |
Brionac is a generic level-6 monster you can go into for a removal effect. Using Brionac's removal can become costly when trying to get rid of multiple cards so only use it on your opponent's boss monsters and Extra Deck monsters, and sometimes on some of their backrow.
![]() Samurai Destroyer | EARTH Machine ★7 ATK 2600 / DEF 1400 |
Dark Dimension [R] | |
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters If this card battles an opponent's monster, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step, also that opponent's monster has its effects negated during the Battle Phase only. If this face-up card in its owner's control leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect: You can target 1 Machine monster in your GY; Special Summon it. |
Any deck that can easily make level-7 Synchros should toolbox Black Rose Dragon. The ideal time to summon Black Rose Dragon when your opponent has a much greater field presence over you. If you want a level-7 beater, Samurai Destroyer is arguably the best. It prevents your opponent from activating effects when it battles, shutting down battle traps. Additionally, Samurai Destroyer offers some utility by turning off the battled monster's floating effects.
![]() HTS Psyhemuth | EARTH Psychic ★6 ATK 2400 / DEF 1800 |
Valhalla Calling [SR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters After damage calculation, when this card battles an opponent's monster: You can banish that monster, also banish this card. |
A boss monster that cannot be targeted cannot be removed by Brionac. In this case you can summon Psyhemuth to do the removing, but this will also weaken your field presence.
![]() Gagaga Cowboy | EARTH Warrior ★4 ATK 1500 / DEF 2400 |
Gagaga XYZ | |
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; apply this effect, depending on this card's current battle position. ● Attack Position: If this card attacks an opponent's monster this turn, it gains 1000 ATK, also the opponent's monster loses 500 ATK, during the Damage Step only. ● Defense Position: Inflict 800 damage to your opponent. |
Cowboy is a staple in any Rank-4 toolbox. He can occasionally steal wins with his burn damage. And the attack position effect can also be useful for attacking over your opponent.
![]() Zubaba General | EARTH Warrior ★4 ATK 2000 / DEF 1000 |
Zexal World Release Campaign [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; equip 1 Warrior-Type monster from your hand to this card. This card gains ATK equal to the combined ATK of the monsters equipped to it by this effect. |
The strongest possible beater you can make in this deck, easily reaching 4000+ ATK by equipping Riscorpio. However, you'll be investing 2 monster on the field plus a monster onhand just to make a huge beater; overall quite costly.
![]() Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon | DARK Fiend ★5 ATK 2600 / DEF 1700 |
Shark Fang [SR] | |
2 Level 5 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; destroy it. |
![]() Wind-Up Arsenal Zenmaioh | WIND Machine ★5 ATK 2600 / DEF 1900 |
Voltage of the Metal [R]
2 Level 5 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 2 Set cards on the field; destroy them. |
Summon Zenmaioh with two Riscorpio as material. Destroying set cards is inline with the Deck's control playstyle and will usually be used to get rid of enemy backrow.
![]() Number 17: Leviathan Dragon | WATER Dragon ★3 ATK 2000 / DEF 0 |
Reginald Kastle Unlock Event [UR]
2 Level 3 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this card gains 500 ATK. If this card has no Xyz Material, it cannot attack your opponent directly. |
Leviathan will usually be at 2500 ATK the turn you summon it, then 3000 on your next turn. Essentially its just a big beater like most of the monsters in this deck.
![]() Wind-Up Zenmaines | FIRE Machine ★3 ATK 1500 / DEF 2100 |
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
2 Level 3 monsters If this face-up card on the field would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this effect was used this turn: Target 1 card on the field; destroy it. |
Zenmaines is an annoying wall to get over since your opponent also risks triggering its removal effect. Also, being protected from destruction effects is very helpful. So you're field is relatively secure unless your opponent has non-destruction removal.
![]() Avenging Knight Parshath | LIGHT Fairy ★8 ATK 2600 / DEF 2100 |
Ranked Rewards [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner LIGHT monsters Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; change that target's battle position. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. |
![]() Rebirth of Parshath | Counter Trap |
Lords of Shining [R] | |
When a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated: Reveal 1 Counter Trap in your hand, then discard 1 card and pay 1000 LP; negate the activation, and if you do, shuffle that card into the Deck. Then, you can Special Summon 1 "Parshath" monster from your Deck or Extra Deck. |
All Gouki monsters are Warriors so you can use any of them as tribute to summon Silent Swordsman. This gives you a monster capable of disrupting your opponent's key Spell cards, while also activating the tributed Gouki's search effect. However Silent Swordsman does start with a pretty low base stat so you might need to add Silent Sword Slash.
