Master of Rites II Begin Duel with the Continuous Spell Ritual Cage activated. | Alexis Rhodes |
The Deck is basically a standard Vendread Deck with a Shiranui Synchro engine teched in. However, it does open up a lot of interactions between the two archetypes.
Revendread Slayer | DARK Zombie ★6 ATK 2400 / DEF 0 |
Curse of Dread [UR] | |
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Vendread" Ritual Spell. Once per battle, if this card battles an opponent's monster, during damage calculation (Quick Effect): You can banish 1 Zombie monster from your GY; this card gains 300 ATK. If this Ritual Summoned card is sent to the GY: You can add 1 Ritual Spell from your Deck to your hand, and if you do, send 1 "Vendread" monster from your Deck to the GY. You can only use this effect of "Revendread Slayer" once per turn. |
Slayer's ATK gain effect can turn it into a powerful beater over time, but if you summon him with Evolution this effect won't matter much. Instead you can use Slayer as synchro material which will also activate his search effect. Fetch another Evolution which you can use to revive Slayer on your next turn.
Slayer's effect also lets you mill Executor. Executor in your graveyard can be paired with Spectralsword to make Sunsaga.
Revendread Evolution | Ritual Spell |
Curse of Dread [R] | |
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Vendread" Ritual Monster from your hand or GY. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field, and/or send 1 "Vendread" monster from your Deck to the GY, whose total Levels equal the Level of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon. The Ritual Summoned monster is destroyed during the End Phase of the next turn. You can only activate 1 "Revendread Evolution" per turn. |
Evolution serves as both a Ritual Spell and the revival Spell of this deck. When summoning a Vendread Ritual monster with tributes from the deck, you'll most likely be milling a copy of that Ritual monster to the graveyard. If you can, the best tributes to use is one Revenants plus one Spectralsword in your hand.
The Slayer summnoned with this card will be destroyed during your opponent's End Phase anyway, so you can use the Ritual Summoned monster as Ritual material. This is made more cost efficient if you use a monster from the deck as ritual tribute.
Gishki Chain | WATER Sea Serpent ★4 ATK 1800 / DEF 1000 |
Abyss Encounters [UR] | |
If this card is Normal Summoned: Look at the top 3 cards of your Deck, you can reveal 1 Ritual Monster or 1 Ritual Spell Card among them and add it to your hand, also after that, place any remaining cards on the top of your Deck in any order. |
The way Vendread monsters work is that they need to be on the field upon being used as Ritual Tribute to get maximize their effect. So even though Vendread Origin can use tributes from the hand and graveyard it is best to summon the tributes first, or in Houndhorde's case revive it first.
Vendread Revenants | DARK Zombie ★4 ATK 1800 / DEF 200 |
Curse of Dread [SR] | |
If this card in your possession is destroyed by an opponent's card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your GY: You can Special Summon this card, but banish it when it leaves the field. A "Vendread" monster Ritual Summoned using this card on the field gains this effect. You can only use the preceding effect of "Vendread Revenants" once per turn. ● Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; banish it. |
Works great against most decks due to the popularity of Extra Deck toolboxes. And the fact that usually the monster most worth getting rid of is a Special Summoned boss monster, makes Revenant's effect quite relevant.
Vendread Houndhorde | DARK Zombie ★3 ATK 0 / DEF 2100 |
Curse of Dread [R] | |
If this card is in your GY: You can discard 1 "Vendread" card; Special Summon this card, but banish it when it leaves the field. A "Vendread" monster Ritual Summoned using this card on the field gains the following effect. You can only use each of the preceding effects of "Vendread Houndhorde" once per turn. ● Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls; banish it. |
You can use Houndhorder's effect to get rid of your opponent’s backrow and banish problematic cards such as Black Whirlwind and Noble Arms of Destiny. This is a quick effect so it can be used in response to the card's activation, even before the opponent is able to make use of its effect.
Vendread Anima | DARK Zombie ★1 ATK 0 / DEF 0 |
Curse of Dread [N] | |
You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 of your banished "Vendread" monsters, except "Vendread Anima"; Special Summon it, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Zombie monsters. A "Vendread" monster Ritual Summoned using this card on the field gains the following effect. You can only use each of the preceding effects of "Vendread Anima" once per turn. ● Banish any monster destroyed by battle with this card. |
Revendread Origin | Ritual Spell |
Curse of Dread [SR] Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [SR]
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Vendread" Ritual Monster from your hand or GY. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field, and/or banish Zombie monsters from your GY, whose total Levels equal or exceed the Level of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon. If "Revendread Slayer(s)" you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish this card from your GY instead. |
Origin is a more permanent method of summoning Slayer. It's also more convenient since you don't need to tribute an exact level, and you can use monsters from the graveyard as cost. Lastly it has a protection effect, which reinforces the idea of keeping Slayer on the field as a beater.
However, the biggest advantage Evolution has over Origin is its ability to mill your deck. With Origin, you can't really directly mill Executor out of the deck to make Sunsaga.
Vendread Nights | Field Spell |
Curse of Dread [N] | |
You can discard 1 card; add 1 "Vendread" monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Vendread Nights" once per turn. When your "Vendread" monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can banish 1 "Vendread" monster from your GY; it can attack an opponent's monster again in a row. |
The search effect is a great consistency boost to the deck. Use this search effect to fetch your Ritual monsters and their tribute fodder. Usually the things in this deck can still be used from the graveyard so the discard cost can easily be mitigated. For example, a discarded Vendread Ritual monster can still be summoned from the graveyard, a discarded Spectralsword sets up a Synchro play, and a Vendread monster in the graveyard has its inherent revival effect.
The field Spell's second effect can be used multiple times per turn and is good for beating down enemy setups but is quite costly. Also you can't use this extra attack to hit your opponent directly.
Shiranui Squire | FIRE Zombie ★4 ATK 1500 / DEF 0 |
Soul of Resurrection [SR]
When this card is Normal Summoned, you can: Special Summon 1 “Shiranui Spectralsword” monster from your hand or Deck, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Zombie monsters. If this card is banished: You can draw 1 card, then discard 1 card. You can only use each effect of “Shiranui Squire” once per turn. |
Normal Summon Squire and Special Summon Spectralsword from the deck. Use the two monsters together to make Samuraisaga. With Spectralsword now in the graveyard, you'll later get access to a ton more Synchro plays.
Squire in the graveyard can be banished with Spectralsword's effect. Another way is to banish her as Slayer's ATK buff cost.
Shiranui Spectralsword | FIRE Zombie ★2 ATK 800 / DEF 0 |
Soul of Resurrection [R]
If this card is in your Graveyard, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 non-Tuner Zombie-Type monster in your Graveyard; banish both it and this card, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Zombie-Type Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck whose Level equals the total Levels those 2 monsters had. You can only use this effect of "Shiranui Spectralsword" once per turn. |
Spectralsword's graveyard effect makes it a great Synchro enabler. This effect even allows you to make Synchro monsters that Spectralsword won't be able to make while on the field such as Archfiend Zombie Skull and Revived King Ha Des.
With the amount of Special Summoning you can perform in this deck, getting Spectralsword on the field is as valid as getting it in the graveyard. Particularly, you can make a generic level-8 Synchro with a Ritual Summoned Slayer paired with Spectralsword.
Notably you can make the Shiranui boss monsters Sunsaga and Shogunsaga by pairing Spectralsword with Executor and Slayer respectively. Both materials can either by on the field or in the graveyard together.
Shiranui Sunsaga | FIRE Zombie ★10 ATK 3500 / DEF 0 |
Soul of Resurrection [R]
1 Zombie Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner Zombie monsters If this card is Special Summoned: You can return any number of your Zombie Synchro Monsters, that are banished or are in your GY, to the Extra Deck, then you can destroy cards your opponent controls, equal to the number of cards returned. If a Zombie monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish 1 "Shiranui" monster from your GY instead. You can only Special Summon "Shiranui Sunsaga(s)" once per turn. |
Sunsaga has a powerful removal effect upon summoning that also recovers your Zombie Synchros. So Sunsaga is best summoned when you already got a bunch of Synchros in the graveyard and banish zone. But even if you don't have Synchros for Sunsaga's removal effect, he is still worth summoning just because of the huge ATK stat and type-wide protection effect.
Shiranui Shogunsaga | FIRE Zombie ★8 ATK 3000 / DEF 0 |
Soul of Resurrection [R]
1 Zombie-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Zombie-Type monsters If this card is Special Summoned: You can banish 1 Zombie-Type monster from your Graveyard; this card gains ATK equal to the banished monster's original ATK, until the end of this turn. If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 of your banished Zombie-Type monsters with 0 DEF; return it to the Graveyard. You can only Special Summon "Shiranui Shogunsaga(s)" once per turn. |
Shogunsaga's temporary ATK boost is great for dealing lethal damage, and between your Zombie Ritual and Synchro monsters there are a ton of options you can banish for this ATK boost. Samuraisaga is the best option among these because he also debuffs the opponent's monster.
Shiranui Samuraisaga | FIRE Zombie ★6 ATK 2500 / DEF 0 |
Soul of Resurrection [N]
1 Zombie-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Zombie-Type monsters Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 of your banished Zombie-Type monsters; shuffle it into the Deck, and if you do, change to Defense Position all monsters your opponent controls with ATK less than or equal to that monster's. If this card is banished: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; it loses 500 ATK. You can only Special Summon "Shiranui Samuraisaga(s)" once per turn. |
Samuraisaga is mostly used to be a decent stat body on-board until you can make something better. The battle position changing effect isn't really that good unless you have a banished Executor or Slayer.
Archfiend Zombie-Skull | DARK Zombie ★6 ATK 2500 / DEF 1200 |
Curse of Dread [N] | |
"Plaguespreader Zombie" + 2 or more non-Tuner Zombie-Type monsters Face-up Zombie-Type monsters you control cannot be destroyed by card effects. |
Another monster that can only be summoned by Spectralsword's graveyard effect. While Ha Des is used for control, Archfiend Zombie-Skull is used for defense against removal effects.
Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis | LIGHT Dragon ★8 ATK 3000 / DEF 2500 |
Infinite Ray [UR] | |
2 Level 8 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Tribute any number of monsters from your hand and/or your side of the field (minimum 1), then destroy an equal number of cards on the field. |
Sword Breaker | EARTH Warrior ★6 ATK 2700 / DEF 1000 |
Shining Hope [R] | |
2 Level 6 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to declare 1 Monster Type; this card gains the following effect. At the start of the Damage Step, if this card battles a monster of a Type that has been declared: Destroy that monster. |
Scrap Dragon | EARTH Dragon ★8 ATK 2800 / DEF 2000 |
Valhalla Calling [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn: You can target 1 card you control and 1 card your opponent controls; destroy them. When this card is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to the Graveyard: Target 1 non-Synchro "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. |
Scrap Dragon is one of the best generic level-8 Synchro monsters available. It provides a high ATK stat and an on-demand removal effect. For this deck particularly, the card you destroy on your side can be recycled in a number of ways if it is a monster.
Revived King Ha Des | DARK Zombie ★6 ATK 2450 / DEF 0 |
Curse of Dread [R] | |
"Plaguespreader Zombie" + 1 or more non-Tuner Zombie-Type monsters Negate the effects of Effect Monsters destroyed by battle with Zombie-Type monsters you control. |
In this deck, Revived King Ha Des can only be made with Spectralsword's graveyard effect. Ha Des' effect is essentially used to prevent your opponent's floating effects from going off.
Battlewasp - Hama the Conquering Bow | WIND Insect ★8 ATK 2800 / DEF 2000 |
Witchs Sorcery [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters If this card was Synchro Summoned using a Synchro Monster as material, it can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. You can only use each of the following effects of "Battlewasp - Hama the Conquering Bow" once per turn. ● When this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can make all monsters your opponent currently controls lose 1000 ATK/DEF. ● At the end of your Battle Phase, if your opponent has not taken any battle damage this Phase: You can inflict 300 damage to your opponent for each "Battlewasp" monster in your GY. |
Note by Destiny Soul:
Destiny Soul
After many attempts I was able to get to KOG with one of my favorite archetypes the Vendread, of course with the help of the Shiranui.
I only use 2 Revendread Slayer because I don't have any more although it would be better if they had 3, this deck needs acceleration so for this work Squire invokes the shiranui tuners just like Solitaire. Squiresaga also helps in the draw by removing Squire that move helped me a lot, in addition Spectralsword Shade when sacrificing it invokes 2 banished monsters which has given me plays to make more combos.
I only use 1 Glow-Up Bloom to make a combo with Slayer and take out Black Rose Dragon to burst the field, besides you have a move for more ritual summons.
A Vendread Nights to bring any Vendread monster you need at the moment either to make spells/traps banishing combos and special summons or for the lack of a ritual monster in hand.
The tech would be the TTH to interrupt the rival's combos.
At first it seems difficult to play Vendread but you get used to it, I did not know so many combos but seeing videos of the plays that other Vendread players make helped me a lot, I tried several deck recipes and this was the one that worked for me, you too you can build your own decklist, you can win with the archetypes you like to play, nothing is impossible just never give up, the Vendread taught me that.
