My Monster Cards If your Deck contains 6 or more Level 4 or below Monster Cards with different names, you will have improved chances of having a Level 4 Monster Card in your starting hand. | Yugi Muto |
I decided to play “My Monster Cards”, as “See you Later!” only makes sense with a full Chaos Dragon Levianeer setup, whereas “Show of Nightmares” is less viable with the added return condition (also Charge of the Light Brigade / Solar Recharge can be useless pickups if you already milled the majority of your deck).
Plaguespreader Zombie | DARK Zombie ★2 ATK 400 / DEF 200 |
Curse of Dread [UR] | |
If this card is in your Graveyard: You can place 1 card from your hand on the top of the Deck; Special Summon this card, but banish it when it leaves the field. |
Plaguespreader Zombie was added to enable Crystron Quarionganrax. Additionally, placing 1 card on top of your deck helps you to avoid losing due to deck out. It can also extend combos by using one of your Level 7 Synchro Monsters for another Synchro Summon. Michael + Vermillion allows for two card removals in one turn.
Lumina, Twilightsworn Shaman | DARK Spellcaster ATK 1000 / DEF 1000 |
Blair Flannigan Event [UR]
Once per turn: You can banish 1 "Lightsworn" monster from your hand or GY, then target 1 of your banished "Lightsworn" monsters, except "Lumina, Twilightsworn Shaman"; Special Summon it. Once per turn, if your other "Lightsworn" monster's effect is activated: Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the GY. |
Lumina, Twilightsworn Shaman was added as banish material for the Chaos monsters and as an additional discard option for Solar Recharge.
Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn | LIGHT Warrior ★4 ATK 1700 / DEF 1000 |
Judgement Force [SR] | |
During your Main Phase: You can send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard, then if any "Lightsworn" monsters were sent to the Graveyard by this effect, this card gains 200 ATK until the end of your opponent's turn. You can only use this effect of "Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn" once per turn. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. |
Playing only Raiden x2 was slightly experimental, but actually helped in making the decks lightly more consistent, as having it in your hand serves no purposes other than being used as discard cost.
Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn | LIGHT Dragon ★7 ATK 2600 / DEF 2000 |
Judgement Force [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner LIGHT monsters Once per turn: You can pay 1000 LP, then target 1 card on the field; banish that target. When this card is destroyed: You can target any number of other "Lightsworn" monsters in your Graveyard; shuffle them into the Deck, and if you do, you gain 300 LP for each returned card. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. |
Michael x2 allows to cycle through your whole deck in theory, as a destroyed Michael can shuffle another Michael back into the deck. However, playing only 1 is perfectly fine. Michael’s banish should be used primarily on monsters, as most of them have a graveyard-based effect in the current meta.
Vermillion Dragon Mech | FIRE Machine ★9 ATK 2700 / DEF 1800 |
Blazing Rose [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn: You can banish 1 Tuner from your hand, field, or Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it. If this Synchro Summoned card is destroyed by card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 of your banished Tuners; add it to your hand. |
Personally, I am a big fan of Vermillion Dragon Mech, as it allows you to extend your combo with Chaos Dragon Levianeer. After using its non-targeting destruction (critical against monsters who cannot be targeted) you can use Glow-Up Bulb to summon Vermillion, which enables you to attack and remove even more cards from the field. The non-targeting destruction is also especially useful versus multiple backrow, as your opponent must choose which one to activate before you designate the cards to be destroyed.
Crystron Quariongandrax | WATER Machine ★9 ATK 3000 / DEF 3000 |
Cybernetic Rebellion [UR]
2 or more Tuners + 1 non-Tuner monster If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target monsters your opponent controls and/or in their Graveyard, up to the number of Synchro Materials used for the Synchro Summon of this card; banish them. If this Synchro Summoned card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target 1 banished monster, except this card; Special Summon it to your field. |
The most realistic way to summon Quarionganrax is to use one of the Luminas + Raiden + Plaguespreader Zombie. In theory, you can also summon it by using Chaos Betrayer + Plaguespreader Zombie + Glow-Up Bulb, but that’s rare.
Both Quarionganrax and Chaos Betrayer are extremely useful vs. decks who make heavy use of their graveyard like Shirunai, by banishing annoying monsters.
Forbidden Lance | Quick Spell |
Valhalla Calling [UR] Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [UR]
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; until the end of this turn, that target loses 800 ATK, but is unaffected by the effects of other Spell/Trap Cards. |
Forbidden Lance helps you to force your Synchro’s through backrow like Floodgate Trap Hole and Fiendish Chain. It is also highly viable versus Dark Magician to counter the banishment triggered by Dark Magical Circle.
Shirunai are overplayed to the maximum, as the recent banlist has provided an unnecessary buff, with Squire and Spectralsword being switched around on the “3” and “2” banlist, so expect to be competing against this Archetype in the majority of your duels in Legend.
