Yami Yugi or Seto Kaiba?

I recommend you to choose Yami Yugi due to obtainable cards as rewards for winning a duel against Seto Kaiba. For more details, see the starter deck comparison and obtainable cards comparison below.

Is Seto Kaiba Playable?

Both Yami Yugi and Seto Kaiba is available when you reach Stage 15 regardless of which character is selected as a starter. For example, Seto Kaiba is unlocked once you are at Stage 15 even if your starter is Yami Yugi.

Which deck is better?

Seto kaiba's starter deck is obviously more powerful than that of Yami Yugi due to monster' stats. However, starter deck is not really important since you will build your own deck once you get cards.

Seto kaiba

If your starter is Seto Kaiba, Yami Yugi is one of the opponents. You can get cards by winning a duel against Yami Yugi but many of them are not useful. Therefore, Yami Yugi is not a character you want to have a duel against.

IDC which Starter is better,BTW I Started as Kaiba during Summer 2017 both characters are great as when I unlocked Y.Yugi but yeah all in all I should've picked Yami Yugi as my Starter

Yugi is 100% a better pick, purely because of the abilities they unlock at level4, even with the basic deck yugi has quite a few monsters to buff with Yami, and opening the first pack has a lot of spellcasters/fiends... However making a good mountain deck for kaiba is pretty hard, I can tell you one thing for a fact - Yugi is a lot easier early on, I've built decks for a few of my friends, one started yugi other kaiba, the one who chose yugi - i made him a spellcaster/fiend deck and he climbed to silver4 the same evening without much hastle, and had no troubles against the bosses or pve bots, however the guy who had chosen kaiba - for him I had to make a deck relying mostly on base stats, as many good dragon/bird/thunder cards are quite high rarity.

What? Not even remotely true. Yugi gets 6 monsters that are 1300 ATK that can get Yami bonus. Kaiba has 3 1300 ATK monsters that can't be boosted by Mountain. By stage 14 Kaiba would need to replace virtually all his 4 star and lower to compete with Magician, Thousand Dragons and Charmer decks; Yugi can still pull it off with Feral Imp and Horned Imp (of which, by the way, also has passable DEF). Kaiba's spike in monster stats lie solely in having 2 BEWD (I guess you could count getting a 1600 ATK monster at level 18 too...but at the point starter monsters are almost completely obsolete) from the start, which is irrelevant seeing how Stage 13 and lower couldn't compete with 1600 ATK monsters.

Good, as someone said, in Stage 3, we can switch to Joey and battle Kaiba, if we start with Kaiba?
NO! i remember now... Kaiba will only be available at stage 15 in the gate, and stage 16 for Unlock Missions.

If this is the only good reason to chose Y.Yugi for start the game, then i call this Useless

Because, until you reach Stage 15 to duel against Seto or Yugi, you already have opened many packs and get something useful, and until then, you haven't so many gate KEYS... so don't matter who you chose.. i always go with Kaiba, because BEWDragon have more power than DMagician, and both duelists have Field Spell as Skill...
And now, more packs is on the game... really don't matter wich one you chose.

I don't follow. I have dueled Kaiba as Joey Wheeler, and I can get the reward for beating him (I think...I'll double check). It does seem to take some time for Kaiba to show up. Tea Gardner seems more common, but that's probably because she's lower level.

I disagree, I prefer having the extra blue eyes copy. Also I only really value the enemy controller which you can get from battling kaiba. Apart from that I don't really like much else of what he gives from battle. Yugi gives fun effect monsters and some good spells.

Hi Life,
I know Yami Yugi gives players fun spell cards, but Battle OX and Enemy Controller work very well in any kinds of deck. That is why I said Seto is better. But yes, I am sure many players want to chose Seto and that is fine :)

Ok so valuing battle OX and enemy controller you have two decent cards. Setos first ability already makes up for it if you get a faith bird or skull bird which will have 1700-1750. Yugi doesn't synergise with the OX, not to mention you can switch to joey and try to get the OX from battling seto. Then you pit enemy controller against mystical box and de-spell (good for equips and field spells).

The only time I see Yugi being better than Seto in my honest opinion is when you get destiny draw for yugi.
