I don't have a issue with this card but when it uses its effect and summon bergamot I used flood gate and it just goes straight to the graveyard and doesn't do anything. Does it not work when you special summon the monster or were they cheating?

If divine punishment goes off on Rose Lover, (which reads: "...negate the activation of a Spell, Trap, or Monster effect and destroy that card."), why can I not activate a second Rose in grave. The activation of the effect was negated so it never went off...

Because you can only use it once per turn. Meaning if one Rose Lover effect was negated, you can't pop another Rose Lover effect the same turn.

You did try to activate Rose Lover's effect, even though it was negated afterwards.

That's why you cannot activate the second Rose Lover.

I figured out the answer to my own question, however this is super vague or incorrect. The first one is more to the point. It's because the card text says "use". I forgot about the "you can only use..." vs "you can only activate..." difference. The fact that it's negating is the important part, however since the card doesn't say you can only activate it once per turn you can't activate a second.

It's not the same thing as rose lover, but if you have amarylease, it can act as a makeshift one until card trader stops being a jerk.

Rose Archer and Rose Lover serves two different purpose.
