How to Use

Archfiend Zombie-Skull

Archfiend Zombie-Skull is a Level 6 Synchro that prevents face-up Zombie monsters you control, including itself, from being destroyed by a card effect, protecting them from cards like Desperado Barrel Dragon and Treacherous Trap Hole. Unfortunately this Synchro Monster a specific Tuner (Plaguespreader Zombie) and two non-Tuner Zombie monsters in order to be Summoned.

Summoning Archfiend Zombie-Skull

  • Normal Summon Gozuki (or Samurai Skull) and send Plaguespreader Zombie from your Deck to the Graveyard;
  • Special Summon Plaguespreader Zombie from your Graveyard by placing a card from your hand on top of your Deck;
  • Activate Vampire’s Desire, targeting Zombie Plaguespreader, and send Vampire Familiar from your Deck to the Graveyard;
  • Special Summon Vampire Familiar from your Graveyard by sending a “Vampire” card from your hand or face-up field to the Graveyard;
  • Synchro Summon Archfiend Zombie-Skull using Plaguespreader Zombie, which is now Level 1, Vampire Familiar and Gozuki.

I would advise using this method only if you have a Zombie monster in your Graveyard to banish for Gozuki’s effect. Vampire Familiar, upon being Special Summoned, will allow you to search a “Vampire” monster that you will be able to Special Summon when Gozuki is sent to the Graveyard for the Synchro Summon. Definitely a convoluted way of Summoning a single Synchro Monster, but it’s not like this Deck cannot function when this play is not available.

  • Normal Summon Gozuki (or Samurai Skull) and send Plaguespreader Zombie from your Deck to the GY;
    Special Summon Plaguespreader Zombie from your Graveyard by placing a card from your hand on top of your Deck;
  • Activate Vampire’s Desire, targeting Gozuki, and send Vampire Retainer from your Deck to the Graveyard;
  • Special Summon Vampire Retainer from your Graveyard by sending a “Vampire” card from your hand or face-up field to the Graveyard;
  • Pay 500 Life Points to add Vampire Kingdom or Vampire Takeover to your hand;
  • Synchro Summon Archfiend Zombie-Skull using Plaguespreader Zombie, Gozuki, which is now Level 2, and Vampire Retainer.

Vampire Kingdom will increase the ATK of Archfiend Zombie-Skull by 500 during damage calculation, making it impossible for Desperado Barrel Dragon to destroy it by battle.

Doomkaiser Dragon

Doomkaiser Dragon is another Level 6 Synchro that requires Plaguespreader Zombie in order to be Summoned, but, unlike Archfiend Zombie-Skull, it doesn’t force you to use at least two non-Tuner monsters, which means that you can Summon it using only two cards: Gozuki (or Samurai Skull) and any card that can be placed from your hand on top of your Deck.

When it’s Special Summoned (not just Synchro Summoned), Doomkaiser Dragon allows you to target a Zombie monster in your opponent’s Graveyard and Special Summon it to your side of the field in face-up Attack Position, but destroy it when Doomkaiser leaves the field.

Well, the most relevant Zombie monster that you will find in your opponent’s Graveyard naturally is going to be Bacon Saver, but, although getting rid of your opponent’s ability to negate any attack can still be considered decent, we are not running this monster for this reason. Thanks to Zombie World and your Skill, Posthumous Army, you can Special Summon any monster you want from your opponent’s Graveyard.

Gozuki & Samurai Skull

Running both Gozuki and Samurai Skull may seem redundant, but it’s necessary: it’s the easiest and most consistent way of getting Vampire Retainer and Vampire Familiar into the Graveyard.

  • You can send Vampire Retainer to the Graveyard, Special Summon it by sending a “Vampire” card from your hand or face-up field to the Graveyard, and then, by paying 500 Life Points, add a “Vampire” Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand.

You can use Retainer’s effect to search the Vampire Kingdom, Vampire’s Desire, Vampire’s Domain or Vampire Takeover. If you want to Summon Vampire Vamp or Vampire Grace, you are likely going to need the additional Normal Summon/Set from Vampire’s Domain, whereas, if you already have the Continuous Spell available, you might want to go for your Field Spell.

  • Vampire Familiar, just like Retainer, can be Special Summoned from your Graveyard by sending a “Vampire” card from your hand or face-up field to the GY, but, instead of allowing you to add a Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand, it gives you access to any “Vampire” monster, except Vampire Familiar.

You can use Familiar’s effect to search Vampire Grace, which, in combination with Vampire Kingdom, used to be this Deck’s primary way of removing potential threats from the field, or to add to your hand Vampire Vamp, a Level 7 “Vampire” monster that can get rid of high ATK monsters like Elemental HERO Brave Neos and Blue-Eyes White Dragon by equipping them to itself.

Unfortunately, if they were Special Summoned by their own effect, both Retainer and Familiar are banished when they leave the field, which means you will not be able to Special Summon them again on your next turn or even to use them for Gozuki’s effect. You can use Burial from a Different Dimension to replenish your resources, but I haven’t found particular success with that card.

Aside from having obvious synergy with Doomkaiser Dragon, Posthumous Army has also the ability of preemptively disrupting your opponent’s plays. Turning all of your opponent’s monsters into Zombie-Type monsters means that they are not going to be able to Special Summon Desperado Barrel Dragon, which requires a DARK Machine-Type monster to be destroyed, Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En, which requires a Warrior-Type Tuner, or even Silent Magician, which requires a Spellcaster-Type monster. All you need to activate this Skill is lose 1000 Life Points, which is something pretty easy to do in a Vampire Deck.

Weaknesses

  • Using Life Points as a resource with only 4000 at your disposal and Cyberdark Edge around is admittedly not that great. A Cyberdark Edge equipped with Leng Ling is capable of inflicting 2500 damage in a single turn, which is exactly where paying for Vampire Familiar, Retainer and Domain would leave you.
  • Archfiend Zombie-Skull only prevents your monsters from being destroyed by a card effect. Your monsters can still be banished, returned to the hand (Legendary Six Samurai - Enishi and Six Style - Dual Wield), to the Deck (Drowning Mirror Force), or even destroyed by battle (anything with 3000 or more ATK).
  • Adding Plaguespreader Zombie doesn’t exactly fix any issue the Deck has, it just gives you a few more options. Most of your plays will still end up consuming most of your resources, leaving you with nearly no ability to recover.

This is KoG worthy but not with the above deck and skill. You need Nethersoul Dragon & Master of Fusion skill.

As long as all the really strong support cards (especially Shadow Vampire and Vampire Awakening) are withheld from Duell Links, don't bother playing this deck anymore.

I hate how this is basically a swarm deck to get out synchros but you dont have any good synchros that can actually provide you enough protection against the things the meta has now like desparado.

vampire vamp (2000) + desperado (2800) = vamp (4800)

get a direct hit you won the game, why go thru so much effort for zombie-skull?

There's a simple explanation: I wanted to try out something new. I agree, a regular Vampire Deck will outperform this variant most of the times, but I really liked the idea of having access to an Extra Deck.
Also, I really wanted to find a way to Summon Zombie-Skull, and it turns out Vampires are pretty much the only one who are capable of doing that in a single turn.

If you wanna summon archfiend zombie skull you can also use pain painter which from the same box and it's name becomes plaguespreader while on the field and has a level adj effect

How about substituting one Plaguespreader for a Pain Painter? He can summon the Archfiend way easier.

vampires can be played even without synchro. plaguespreader sure opens new possibilities for this deck but the synchro options are very unimpressive for now.

btw, that vermillion mech synchro is Lame. plaguespreader gets banished after a synchro if you used gozuki/samurai skull to send it to the gy so you can't use it's destruction effect. it would just be another beater.

I mean, you would still get said Plaguespreader back to your hand when Vermillion is destroyed by a card effect tho
<< Anonymous

^this is how vermillion is commonly used: you synchro summon vermillion and then activate its effect (to destroy a card) by banishing the tuner used to synchro summon it from the graveyard.

my point is, since plaguespreader gets banished after you synchro summon vermillion, there won't be a tuner ready to be used for vermillion's effect to activate.

cont:
also, vermillion can only retrieve a tuner if it was destroyed by a card effect.

THERE CURRENTLY NO GOOD ZOMBIE SYNCHROS. NUFFSAID

One deck idea that jumped to mind for me was one where you rely on self-mill to get things going. Here's a top-of-the-head build:

Vendread Stirges X3
Vendread Houndhorde X3
Vendread Core/Anima/etc. X2
Plaguespreader Zombie X2
Gozuki X3
Samurai Skull X2
Magical Merchant X3
Zombie World
Treacherous Trap Hole

Doomkaiser Dragon X2
Revived King Ha Des X2
Red-Eyes Zombie Necro Dragon X2

Basically, you use Magical Merchant to try to flood your grave, while using the various Vendread monster effects to flood your field. Mezuki and Samurai Skull allow you to throw out a few Plaguespreaders from the deck, should you not get Magical Merchant. This came off the top of my head, so I know jack-all about if it works. Still, fun idea.

^cant run treacherous and Samurai Skull

You can, but only 1 of each, or run 2 copies of one of them and 0 copies of the other card

This deck looks quite contradictory.

Play Zombie World and shut down your main motor for Vampires

Or play Vampire Kingdom and shut down your main motor for Plaguespreader Shyncros

Not to mention I see this bricking A LOT.

The Deck, while testing, has displayed hardly any issue when it comes to consistency. I'm running 3 Gozuki, 2 Samurai Skull, and 2 Vampire's Desire, which can turn Retainer and Familiar into a combo starter.

I agree--at the very least, you should not play zombie world if you're playing the skill. Especially if you're only including the card for its interaction with one other card.

Still, I'd recomend Call of the Mummy instead of Zombie World, it helps a lot to quickly summon the Plaguespread shyncros, so in combination with Bonz's SKill, you may get out of a tight situation when playing at the right momment.

I think use generic level 6 synchro is better

and dont use zombie world mehh

Outside of mirror force and it's other counterparts, this card is also one of the best traps...
They should release this card but make it so that you can only activate it once per week per acco...
Noah is in the game. But you have to unlock Atticus (GX) first before you can unlock him.
