Pros

It has a potential to wipe out the entire back row of your opponent.

Cons

Attack is pretty low compared to other monsters that requires 1 tribute.
If you set this card, it's susceptible to level 4 monsters with high attack since its defense is not that high.
It can only destroy face down spell and traps. Your opponent can chain those cards if he/she can. Face-up cards are not destroyed.
It returns to the hand during the End Phase of the turn this card is normal Summoned or flipped face-up.

Tips

You can use Paradox Brothers' skill "Three-Star Demotion" to summon/set this card easily.
It's best used by setting this card, so it can be used as a surprise when your opponent attacks into it. But this will not work against Pegasus players that use "Mind Scan" skill.

Stray Lambs

Fenghuang can be tribute set using only 1 monster. If your opponent doesn't have any monster, they will have to choose between attacking the lamb, or your set Fenghuang. Destroying the lamb will allow you to save your Fenghuang so you can activate it when you want, but if they attack your Fenghuang, then it will destroy their spell/trap cards that they set, which most opponents usually do.

Mirror of Yata

This can be used to make your Fenghuang stay on the field. Your spirit monster will still stay even if this card is destroyed, only if the turn your spirit monster is supposed to return from its effect is stopped by Mirror once.

Shinobird Power Spot

Mostly effective if you are using a Spirit deck, but this will increase all Spirit monsters' attack and defense to increase their survivability.

Amarylease

Can be activated in your graveyard to summon/set Fenghuang without a tribute. This is useful for when you want to destroy your opponent's spell/trap card right away.

Works well with Goki to keep resummoning and crashing set cards or just chain thrashing if they can't overpower your goki and spells/traps

Bluff trap already have storm for heavy backrow removal.

I think that it could be a good backup plan in case you don't draw storm + enough spell/trap and need an instant backrow destruction. So yes, 1 copy of it could really help a bluff trap amarylease deck.

Would probably work in a 3ds spiritdeck. Attack with the spiritfieldspell would be 2600 and with yata it cant be destroyed immidiatly.

3SD + Double summon with this and Black Tyranno = possibly instant direct 2.6k

but i agree, it's too soon to know its real potential in the current format.

3SD + Barrel Dragon + Double Summon + this card = empty opponent field, but what are the odds... and etaqua, econ would still work, plus continuous spell/trap cards (and field) would be uneffected...a devastating combo that would work only once in a lifetime, IMHO

Back row destroyer might be great, but it will leave the field and makes your field open if you not use Mirror of Yata. Not to mention it needs a tribute

It isnt destroy back row. It destroy SET spell and trap, cant even destroy mask or harpie field. And you can chain activate the card before it get destroy too.

Backrow isn't always Face-up spell/trap or. I mean.. We know this card is set spell/trap destroyer but it's too long to mention dude.. So I call it backrow destroyer. Twister or Wild Tornado is also backrow destroyer but it's only for face-up spell/trap card.
