Actually, no. The controller of the card takes the damage, and Lava Golem can only be summoned on your enemy side, so... Your opponent takes the damage.
This card can be crazy good on the recent Weevil parasite deck. A new and potent burn, and a simple way to remove troublesome monsters? Great.
