Tips

Retrieving Banished Spellbooks

Use these cards to retrieve your banished Spellbook cards. Spellbook of Eternity adds a banished Spellbook spell card back to hand. Wheel of Prophecy, when special summoned by another Spellcaster-type monster, allows you to return as many banished Spellbook spell cards back to the deck and return the rest of them to your graveyard.

Spellbook

Here are some Spellbook spell cards that support the Prophecy Archetype and Spellcasters in general. Remove them from the Graveyard to activate the effect of Spellbook of Fate.

This card is the only reason that SB is even good, a quick play banish is sometimes all it takes to turn the duel around. Unfortunately for this deck users it’s only a rare card, so it’s a prime target to get limited or even forbidden when it’s this decks turn to get nurfed.

I think that's the point. Konami released cards like Onslaught, Fate, and Mayhem/Dyna/Wiz as R so that they can be hit later on.

You're right.
I was thinking that the most troublesome fur hire is beat, but since beat is SR, very likely it will go untouched.

Thus, left dyna & wiz to be on the list in the future if they continue to pose threat.

But, I think it could be too much if they put both dyna & wiz on semi. Not sure which card will hit the ban list though

FH is geyy Reply
who runs 3 dynas and wiz tho

Reading that old reply is amusing now that Dyna is limited and Wiz is semi-limited XD
Work around it
Set 1 econ and 1 monster.

If he uses fate you can econtake his monster and make him use banish on his own monster.

You can also cyclone fate when they put it facedown or in your turn to force them to use it or by hey trunade or use gyoku.

You can give them too much targets to fate so they cant fate it all.
You can use spell negating cards etc.

There are many ways around it.

Just need to learn how to work around it.

Also I would like to add that they cant fate (and some other spells) if they dont have a spellcaster on the field.

So killing/facedown swap his monster can give them trouble and slow them down too.

No they cant banish econ in that situation.

Look at following example.

You have 1 monster and 1 econ.

He activates fate (the card he picks isnt chosen at this point).
Now you do econtake and have his monster.

Now he has to apply the fate effect and there is only his monster on your field that he has to use it on.

Thats a downside of how fate works.

If your deck doesnt have special summon options to swarm or none of the tools i mentioned, than your chances are low.
Many meta decks have those tools though.

Dont get me wrong btw. I have cursed as well when my first 2 draws didnt provide me the needed tools resulting in falling behind and feeling quite powerless.

On the other hand i have beaten them often too.

There's a problem there. E-Con stays on the field until the end of the chain so they can banish the E-Con instead. Also you will have a clear board if you only set two.

DOESN'T TARGET, how the TF does this not target???
So bujin turtle is automatically rendered useless.

Some cards can apply effects without the targetting mechanic.

You need to see target as the yugioh meaning of target.

Oh and ofc the anubis and windstorm traps

How can such a broken 🔥 card exist?
Anonymous
1) Return 1 set spell/trap card to the hand.

If opponent used this on my card, for exam econ. Can I chain this with the targeted card ie. the econ?
<< Anonymous
akubane Reply
yes you can chain it. to prevent that, the card needs to say that you cant(like gyokkou and xing xeng hu replica).
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Keep in mind this card doesn't target. You'll need to decide whether to chain to it BEFORE they pick a card. (So if you had 2 face-downs and chain one, they'll just return the other, not just completely waste the Fate.) Matters more for the banish effect, but worth keeping in mind anyway.

Can we banish hazy monsters?
<< Anonymous(Waffles)

It doesnt targets. So they are affected
<< Anonymous(Waffles)

Hazy monsters are not affected by card effects THAT TARGETS THEM.

Card effects that do not directly target them, still affect Hazy monsters ;)
<< Anonymous(Waffles)

Please read your hazy cards.

Hazy cards cant be targeted.

There are cards that work on them that do not target.

Widespread ruin.
Wall of disruption.
Mirror wall.
SRH.
Spellbook of fate.

Maybe a few more.

Its good that not everything targets.

Otherwise cards like hazy (and similar cards) would be godlike if nothing could affect them at all except destroy by battle.

That would mean that you would insta lose if they boost their att with f.e. beast rising trap.

This card is 100% balanced, there is few reason
1.its once per turn
2.its cant be copied by master cuz its quick-play spell
3.the third effect is kinda hard to pull sometimes

right?

Stop. The entire deck makkles it simple to get SB in GY.

It doesnt target, which mean:
-Red eyes slash eff is useless
- Mask change is useless since the chain happen right after the banishing section.
-Hazy's anti target is useless due to this card description which is doesnt target any of them
-Bujin Hare is useless

Conclusion:The best way to get rid of it is using spell removal, such as galaxy cyxlone. I wont find it weird if this card semi limited

all those decks aren't meta so it doesn't matter, except heroes ofc but just as spellbooks have better chance to win aganist heroes, spellbooks is literally a free win for vampires, also heroes can use sealed tombs and you literally counter spellbooks, there's so many ways to counter spellbooks (that's is why is tier 3) so the deck doens't really need a nerf, at least you want the deck to die ofc

^^^^ a typical comment who doesnt accept that it was semi limited

This card don,t target lol
Plaguerot
You can only activate 1 a turn so it's not totally overpwoered. And you can't use master on it because it's a quick play

Is this card effect target or nah?
